Got an acceptance (with sticker!) here in Minnesota! 😀 I'll probably be declining soon though, so good luck to those of you waitlisted!
 
Waitlisted here in Arizona. That makes 3 out of 4 that I wasn't rejected from :annoyed:. I'm still waiting on U of I and rrrreeeeeaaaaaallllllyyyy hoping I get better news since it's my top school.
 
Rejection 🙁 It's okay though. Fortunately, I have a few other options 🙂 Congratulations to all of you that made it in! You deserve it!
 
I know in the letter for waitlisters it said that they can't disclose certain information so they can't tell us what our chances are, etc. but does anyone know if it is acceptable to email and inquire about what number you are on the waitlist? Just wondering...

They won't tell you. Ok-State does not release waitlist rankings. I could be wrong but I think it has to do with state privacy laws.

I'm wait listed at a few schools too and it's so hard to visit fall in love with the school then have to wait around to see if you get in come April 15th

How is the open house going? Hope you're having a good time if you made it, Frozen!!! I was going to go, but changed my mind since I need to get myself in gear and get my genetics done.

Have heart all of you on the waitlist!!! If HRL is right, they might just be waiting for spring grades then opening the doors! :xf::luck::luck::luck:

It was good, thanks! Got a nice tour of the classroom area and the teaching hospital and got to chat with a bunch of current students. On the road headin back home now.

Drug my husband to the open house to show him where I will be living the next 4 years, but we had to leave early so he could feed the cows. The first pasture we got to had a vaginal prolapse cow 👎 and another trip to stillwater so the vet could sew her up. Last time I went feeding with him we had to pull a calf. Apparently I'm not allowed to go feed with him anymore...

Commuting. We live in Glencoe, but I figured I'd be spending way more time there than at home so I might as well call the school home.+pity+

Indeed! I don't know what I'll do yet. I'm hoping to get a little house with a backyard for the dogs. I'm gonna try to get fairly close to the school, but I'm assuming all those nice ones just behind McElroy are too expensive for me.

Shouldn't be too bad a drive for you. The worst part will be getting through campus or through the airport at "rush hour" - aka, you might get stuck behind some dummy going 15mph :laugh: I can make it to Glencoe in ~20 min, and I'm there 3-4x a week lately.

Some are. Some are reasonable for what they are- range 550-800ish for a 2-3 bedroom. And some of them look much nicer on the outside than they do in the inside. There are usually vet students in this area looking for roomies if you can wait until ~June when Anna sends out the housing list. And once you guys have a FB group up and running people will be posting there looking for roomies as well

I'm probably not going to do roommates. I'm thirty and have been living on my own since 17, except twice with boyfriends.

Well that's good. I work at 9th and Perkins right now so it will only be a little farther and probably at worse times (usually work 7am to 8pm) so I'm betting it will take longer than the 22 min it takes me now. Might have to befriend fellow students to crash on a couch on the really late nights.

Perkins Road Pet Clinic? I want to do a preceptor there but I know of at least one classmate that has been shot down so I'm nervous to call and try to get something set up.

I currently commute from Ponca City every day. It's really not bad. The drive gives me time to wake up in the morning. 4th year though I will have to spend more time in Stillwater since they require you to be 15min from the VTH when you are on call etc. I own a house down there that I will be splitting with a 2nd year so it won't be too bad.

Yep! It is a very demanding place to work, but totally worth it. The owner is Dr. McKenzie and I think she usually only allows former employees do preceptors, but there is always the exceptions. Dr. Meinkoth (female) works there now so if you knew her from school and could have her talk to Dr. McKenzie she might be able to talk her into meeting you. Dr. McKenzie is VERY busy with tax stuff and a horse show right now so maybe closer to the end of this month would be a better time to talk to her. I wont see her for probably 10 days or so because our work rotations are a little mixed up, but I'll see how she feels on the subject.

I have brought my dogs there for years. Dr. Bonds told me that I just have to catch Dr. McKenzie on a good day so thanks for the heads up on how busy she is. I miss Dr. Mrs. Meinkoth around the school.

I live in Pawnee and I spend plenty of time at home. Commuting also gives me time to wake up....and I really need that wake up time!
 
Does anyone know when packets or emails will go out? Do they wait until they've received our deposits or just send out mass emails after April 15th?

Sent in my deposit and got an email today with some info. They said they will send a packet of stuff in June.
 
Does anyone know how many alternate spots are given out? Also, do they over enroll before even looking at the waitlist?
 
Looking at the curriculum and getting excited... only 4 1/2 more months of freedom. Anyone else joining Lupin and I for c/o 2017?

Yes I hope we have more than one classmate Lupin! Slowly getting all my ducks in a row. Taxes and FAFSA done and got my name changed in OSU's system. Next step is to get insurance... bleh

Double bleh. Yeah, I got my taxes done and changed my FAFSA this weekend too. I won't start looking for housing until end of May, but I am ready to get yet another move out of my hair. Are you working all the way up until school or taking a month or two off?
 
I really wanted to take July off but financially my husband and I agreed I can't. I am going to work until Aug 1st I think and maybe hubby and I will be able to take a decent vacation right before school starts, just haven't figured out where(any suggestions??) Work is desperately trying to find replacements for me and a girl who's husband is getting a job out of area after he graduates in May so they are trying to get me to stay up until Aug 12th, haha.
 
I'm waitlisted hoping to hear something back from OK state by the end of next week. On the bright side you guys have plans. I'm 4 weeks from graduation and have no idea what I'm doing or where I'm going next year.

Good luck Abner!! Are you IS or OOS? It is nice to have plans, but when I graduated I didn't have anything lined up. I moved to Kansas with my boyfriend and spent a month looking for a job. 3 years later finally applied to vet school. If you don't get in you can apply to where I work if you want to move to Stillwater!
 
Thank you 🙂 I'm an OOS so I know my chances of getting of the waitlist are a lot better than if I was an IS, but still very nerve racking
 
I withdrew from the waitlist because I decided to go somewhere else, so thats one down!! Good luck to all of you waitlisters, I'm crossing my fingers for you =)
