I just received one as well, is it normal for them to assign an interview date for you? Can this be changed? I have an exam on this date!!!!!!!

Hey guys,
I was wondering what the odds were of getting an interview at both PCOMs. I just got my interview invite from PA-PCOM 🙂, but I also really love GA-PCOM!! I actually just visited the school today. I'm a Florida resident so I thought it was kinda weird I heard from PA first and not GA. I called the admissions office today and I was told it was possible to get invites to both. Does anyone know of anyone who has gotten both interview invites and how long it was between each invite? Thanks!!
I don't know for sure, but usually schools are willing to work with you. They can't just give you one date or nothing.
Of course there is a possibility, you have to think of them as two separate schools, so you have equal chance with both. In fact, if one offers you an interview chances are you will get one at the other as well. I am closer to LECOM erie, yet i got an interview invite from bradenton first!
You should be getting it soon. PCOM sends the secondary by mail to your permanent address so make sure you check that mail or have someone that can.I'm getting so anxious to receive this secondary! PCOM-PA is my top choice. I've been verified for a couple of weeks now. How much longer should I expect to have to wait? I'm going to finish up the secondary essay this weekend so it's ready to go.
Thanks

OMM was the tightest connection to osteopathic medicine for me so I discussed it primarily and then threw in some other things. If you wanna know what I wrote I'll pm you. Let me know.In the PCOM essay (and essays in general) do you guys discuss why OMM fits well with your mentality, or is that too specific? I discussed why the general D.O. mentality is a perfect fit for me, but I didn't specifically talk about OMM. What do you guys think? Thanks.
Thanks phillybum! Good stuff. I'm actually scheduled at PCOM the day you are, November 19th? Were you able to reschedule? I'm actually from Bradenton! When's your LECOM interview? Mine is October 17th.

Dude, for a second there I thought your sn read "I AM HIGH"Ok thanks! I'm an old married lady, so my current address is my permanent address 🙂 lol
HI everyone. congrats on getting interviews😉
I have one question. how strict is PCOM on their letter requirements? I do not have a comm letter, and I graduated almost 3 yrs ago, and I feel that getting a letter from the dean of my school is pointless because he doesnt know me as a person. I have great science letters (from my research/class advisor) as well as letters from my employer (research),and a DO letter. Should I be ok with my letters, or should i try to get one from the dean?
Can anyone who got an interview tell me approx how long was the wait between being complete and hearing about your interview?
I would imagine it would also depend alot on your grades / mcat...
someone with a 35MCAT and 3.5gpa will probably get an interview invite as soon as possible after verification.
Someone with a 25MCAT and 2.5gpa may not...
Yeah i guess stats do have an effect. I was just concerned because I've received interview invites from all but 3 of the 12 schools I completed secondaries on PCOM was one of them. Stats are 3.3gpa and a 35Q. I was complete about 3 weeks ago. Hopefully I'm nervous for no reason but PCOM is by far where I want to go and to not hear anything yet is unnerving.
I was just trying to get an idea of how long between being complete and the invite, if any came for the avg applicant. Thanks for the input!
I wrote feedback in the interview feedback (scroll all the way to the top, click the medical tab, and then interview feedback under resources). I was done by 11:30. We had a 5-student group and our interviews lasted approximately 20-25 minutes. I had no idea how fast time flew. Extremely laid back interview. It was the first set of interviews they did 🙂D) so it wasn't the norm representation. Usually its morning and afternoon interviews with multiple interviews going on at once. It is a panel interview which is not nearly as burdensome as I thought it was going to be. You're usually interviewed by an admissions representative, faculty member, and practicing physician (DO). I had the pleasure of interviewing with a DO psychiatrist and DO clinic rotation coordinator, plus the direct of Admissions. Also, when you eat breakfast you'll have an ambassador. Our's was Dr. Nicholas, the OMM faculty member. I didn't go on the tour as I had been to PCOM several times before. But the tour, according to the email, lasts approximately 45 minutes and it was supposed to start at noon.Bacchus, when did the interview+tour end for the day? The admission office told me it ends around 2pm and i can catch a flight back by 4pm. Is that about right for your day?
Also, how do you like the school after your visit? Is the interview pretty chill? How's the people interviewing you?

hey, i noticed this question went unanswered. Can anyone who got an interview tell me approx how long was the wait between being complete and hearing about your interview? I was "complete" w/o notice by 9/5 and wanted an idea of how long to expect to wait. Like many other pcom is my top choice. Thanks and good luck to all!
There aren't many options on the feedback. 3 individuals interviewing only me, at once.
Found this on an old SDN post.
PCOM 2002 Admission Stats:
Total:
3154 applied
664 interviewed (21% interviewed)
410 accepted (61.7% of interviewees accepted)
256 enrolled
Instate:
476 applied
317 interviewed (66.6% interviewed)
274 accepted (86.4% of interviewees accepted)
171 enrolled
OOS:
2678 applied
347 interviewed (13.0% interviewed)
136 accepted (39.2% of interviewees accepted)
85 enrolled
These stats are pretty old so I imagine it's probably more competitive now, especially with DO's being more well known now. But the stats post interview invite are probably in the same ballpark.
During orientation, the administration told us that they received 5,500 applications for 271 seats. Numbers have increased from years past, and will continue to. For those of you interested in attending PCOM for medical school, I would suggest you get your applications in as soon as possible.
My PCOM-Philly interview is tomorrow 9/29.... i'm excited and nervous. Wish me luck, and good luck to everyone else with their interviews.
