PennVet 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Also I wonder how many people they interviewed. There were 3 days, 4 time slots, 5 ppl per group and each time had groups A B C . If there is only groups ABC then that theoretically means only 180 students were interviewed…..I’m hoping this means our chances of getting accepted are high if they keep class size around 130 🙏🙏🙏
I like your math, also hoping that the chances are high for an acceptance 🙏

I was Group F 💀

My interview is scheduled for this Friday. When do they send out information for the interview and the actual time?

Yep! You should get it tomorrow, and it gives you the following information: Time, Group Assignment (A-F, etc), and topic.

Best of luck!! You're going to do great!

So probs safe to assume that if we haven’t gotten off the interview waitlist its over huh ):
Unfortunately, today is the last day of interviews so unless something crazy happens like a bunch of people don’t show up today then yea 🙁 Following the script from last year they will send out confirmation that interviews are over on Monday.

Weird question- for anyone that interviewed does anyone know how/if the last 5 minutes are weighted? It was so opened ended it kind of caught me by surprise and I think I fumbled a bit with my introduction and questions

I think it's pretty up in the air how any of the interview components were evaluated/weighted; actually, stepping back, I don't think we even know if we all started on the same playing field going into the interview, like if our VMCAS application scores/weighting were carried forward or we all start at like a zero after we move on to the interview stage, thus making interview performance the sole factor in determining acceptance... Sorry literally giving you no answers, but adding more questions 🤣

I think about this so much because I was taken off the OOS interview waitlist and it makes me think I might have had a disadvantage going into the interviews if it wasn't a clean slate because I technically ranked below everyone else.

Ugh the unknowns are hard!! And the mind defo has ample time to wonder until Feb 28 😬

I think everyone is wondering these same things and they don’t really release a lot of info. I feel like the interviews were so short when thinking abt the amount of speaking time that every individual got. If you got an interview I think it’s a good indication that you will be at least waitlisted and it looks like the waitlist moved considerably last year so 🤞🤞

We’re ten days out guys. Just to get some good vibes going, what are you guys looking forward to the most about going to Penn?

As for me, I’m looking forward to living in the city.

Yes!! I really look forward to working at and experiencing their equine/large animal facilities because I’ve heard they’re top notch.

I am such a city girl !! Really hopeful for this school … waiting is hard

The New Bolton Center and Ryan Hospital are wonderful! I worked at a shelter that consistently sent complicated cases to PennVet and was so impressed with their work. I live 30 minutes away from the campus. It's in Philly so you have good parts and bad parts. I've heard both good and bad from the current class but that's pretty much how every vet school is-- nowhere is perfect. If you're not a city person, you'll have to adjust a little bit to the crazy traffic and city culture but other than that, I love Philly! Oh- and you'll have to be an Eagles fan, or atleast not say you don't like the birds 😉

GO BIRDS! Me + Philly = a love story. Worked at the Philly school district for 5 years, drove out to all 215 of its schools in that time so I’ve really seen the city, happy to answer questions about Philly for anyone!

Has anyone’s references been contacted?

No, mine haven’t. I was just checking the threads of previous years and some people mentioned their references being contacted post-interview

I know we don’t really know, but do you guys think that the decisions will come before the 28th because this is their second year of structuring admissions this way so maybe it’s a little more organized or are we pretty set on the 28th ?

At least I’m pretty set on the 28th, but if they do release decisions earlier it would be a nice surprise.
