Based on the information of ADA website their acceptance rate is 20/1 which is pretty competitive.
I did not extern there. I only applied to the program since I had heard really positive things about it from my GPR director.

It’s a strong program both for research and clinically. I graduated from San Antonio dental school and heard through the grapevine about the program. I believe 4 interview days scattered through late August and early September. They generally in the past have sent out interview invites after the deadline, August 1st. Solid program and because of that it’s one of the more competitive ones out there. Or so I’ve heard.....

I got invited from Chicago and Boston so far.
 
Is part 2 really necessary for application? And what about attempts in boards?

No part two is not necessary. I do not think they ask you if you have taken the boards more than one time. I don’t remember that being part of the applications. However I am not sure if the official records sent to schools will include the number of attempts.

Only from UT San Antonio.
Also I just realized VA LA only has one spot for first year resident. I could swear when PASS opened it was 2 resident lol

Thank you. I did not get any completion emails. I am a 2018 grad and did a year of gpr. I went to pass/no pass school so did not have a GPA.

My bet. August 28th not 23rd.I received voicemail to respond to confirm interview date. I was given choice between August 28th and September 11th. I chose the first one.
 
Did anyone hear of a good area to stay in Memphis for the interview? Don’t want to stay in a sketchy neighborhood.

*More than 7 year of work experience as a dentist in Massachusetts
*Dual grad with BDS and DMD
*Master’s in Public Health
*Passed both NBDE 1,2,ADAT
*Attended numerous CE courses
*Teaching experience in Dental School and research experience in Public Health School
*Several short externships in department of periodontics at several institutions.
*Genuinely interested in periodontics and implant dentistry.
*Good relation with my school periodontics program director and local periodontist and colleagues
* Last but not least, I don’t believe in giving up. This is my third time in a row for application cycle.

No need of ADAT. I just took it in case someone needs it.
Also no need of externship unless you want to feel the program that you are applying.

Early on! I want to say end of March/Early April is when I had initial PASS application submitted to all programs then it took me another month or so to finish all the secondary applications on a rolling basis as I heard back from different programs.

Interviewing so far at Boston, Nova and Pittsburgh

More than 7 years work experience as a dentist private practice/military
DDS
No research experience
Passed both NBDE 1 and 2
AGD Fellowship
Numerous CE
Worked at hygiene college in my city, no dental school to teach at
Took the long way around to find interest in periodontics. When I graduated from dental school I felt I would never want to go back and here we are 🙂
 
Any updates? Feeling quite disheartened🙁

I have 5years post education experience. Teaching and research. Do not know what the schools are looking for but starting to believe it’s not me

I know your feelings bro. The thing is that , since Perio programs joined the match it becomes a very long process with multiple rounds for each program. Don’t lose hope just yet. We still have August and September to call for interviews.

I wouldn't lose hope either. From what I understand work experience is valued. I'm still getting emails just now telling me my application is considered complete. I finalized a lot them over 3 weeks ago.
 
Anybody hear from Augusta? Received a completion email in July, just curious if anyone got an interview

Rejection letter from UTSan Antonio dated August 6th but sent today.

Unless they sent rejection letters i would say there is hope? Not sure tbh. I don’t know if it’s common practice for programs to send rejections or not. So far I have been rejected from San antonio and haven't heard anything from VCU.

Did you receive and invite from Nebraska? I haven't heard anymore from them aside application is complete.

Yes invite via telephone call. Keep an eye out I almost didn’t listen to voicemail as I thought it was spam

I did and got an interview date.. if anyone female candidate is interested in sharing a room, message me.
NYU and Indiana hasn't sent me a completion email yet.. did they start sending interviews?
 
Did anyone else get a SECOND rejection letter from San Antonio? oh boy they REALLY don’t want me. #sadface
