Well, PCOM just answered my previous question.... interview invite Dec 9th!

I got accepted today!!! I live about an hour from philly so those of you farther away should be getting letters soon!!

Accepted!!!

For those that want to know... OOS, non-traditional major, 3.4c, 27 MCAT (10P, 9B, 8V), clinical research for 2 yrs post-grad. Going to Rwanda in the spring to work in ICUs.

ACCEPTED!!!

This has been one hell of a journey, and I've wanted to go to this school since freshmen year of college. I'm cancelling all pending interviews because this is truly a dream come true. See all of you accepted next year, and good luck to those in the process.

Is there a facebook group?

Accepted!!!

Interview early November...
Top Choice... very impressed with the campus and everything about the school
Stats: cGPA=3.7, sGPA= 3.6, MCAT 29, IS

Just received a Happy Holidays card from PCOM today in the mail. So nice and thoughtful. Congrats, all!

Congrats man! No as of yet there isn't a fb group yet

I live 40 minutes from Philly and didn't get anything in the mail is this a bad sign do they send acceptances out first?

Congrats! Yeah man it's a really nice school. When I toured there the students told us they have brand new surgical simulators which only a handful of schools have in the country. Pretty impressive.

I have same profile as you, except the fact that I am out of state and heard nothing from them. Congratulations!!!! Hopefully, they give me an interview 🙂

Yea.. We got a tour of the simulation labs with all of the different devices... They were pretty awesome... Now time to figure out where to live and stuff which is a nice break compared to waiting for a response...

Yea I was absolutely blown away by their interview. Everyone was so incredibly nice and the tour was very well organized along with informative... I have to say, I was completely sold after having been there for the interview and all...

About the same distance away, and it took an extra day for me.

Just found out that I got waitlisted...did anyone else?? Is getting waitlisted this early in the game a bad sign? I thought I had a fairly strong application and that my interview had gone well. Now I'm feeling pretty discouraged 🙁 PCOM is my top choice school. Congrats to those with acceptances though. I hope to be in your shoes in a few months!

EDIT: jk...apparently I was too flustered to notice that I'm not actually "waitlisted," but my application has been put on hold. Is there a difference? help plz

What's the actual wording in the letter and maybe I can say some things because I know a current first year who had a similar letter last year

"The Faculty Committee on Admissions has decided, following your interview, to delay a decision on your application for admission and has placed it on hold. The Committee will review your application credentials at future Admissions Committee meetings. You will be notified as soon as a decision is rendered."

The hold list basically is waitlist except that there is a chance to get off the hold list prior to may 15th when it officially becomes the waitlist. This happened to me last last year. I ended up on the waitlist but I did not have any major application changes during the cycle. If you have grade updates/publication then I would guess those would increase your chance to get off the holdlist prior to may 15th. There's always hope until you get a rejection. hang in there

There's nothing I can add to this, but it's true - hang in there.

Does anyone know if we get a laptop as part of our tuition and if so what kind? Thanks!

I haven't heard anything about a laptop. In fact in the admissions packet they give you laptop minimums you should have. I did hear we get stethoscopes tho

Hey guys! Current PCOM student here. Congrats on your acceptances! I can't wait to see you all around campus next year. Let me know if you have any questions. 🙂

I see a few of you are thinking of living in Center City. I would probably advise against that, or at least ask you to consider places closer to the school. Manayunk is a really popular place - and I believe it is much cheaper than Center City. There are also houses and apartment buildings really close to campus. I live in a building that's a ten minute walk, and I can't imagine living much farther away - especially during anatomy class! Center City is a really expensive place to live, and for those of you who have never faced Philly morning traffic - it is one of the least fun things in the world, haha.

With regards to laptops, definitely make sure you meet the minimum requirements! 😀 We take all our exams on a computer program, and you don't want to have a problem with that. Macs seem to be pretty popular with our class, but it's definitely a personal preference.

When do classes start? July? August?

I need to know, so I can tell my current employer when I'm leaving for school. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Nevermind... I just saw that orientation starts around mid-August.

Can't wait!!!

Just got my acceptance letter today, really excited to know I might be going here next year!! The facilities seemed outstanding, and I was most impressed by the friendliness of the students that randomly stopped by to answer questions and wish us luck during the interview day.

OOS, 3.85 cGPA 3.7 sGPA, 29.

When did you interview? I'm on pins and needles right now, as I interviewed 11/8, and am just now returning from a 2 week vacation, so I haven't been able to check my mail yet!!

When I interviewed I know several students said they lived in apartment buildings right by the school. Do you know the names of any the apartment buildings close by? Also do most people live by themselves or with other students?

Accepted! Although I'm still wondering why/how/if I am dreaming. I'll admit it, I started tearing up as it's my first acceptance.

For those of you who want to know:
OOS student, Complete 10/1, Interview 11/12, accepted 11/26 (2 week turn around). The MCAT tortured me (I got a 23). <--- That being said I really do believe they look at you're ENTIRE application. So folks out there concerned w your MCAT score or GPA or anything else try to focus on the positives you bring to the table.

Don't give up hope you guys!!

Did you have a really high gpa?

Cumulative: 3.48, Non Science: 3.65, Science: 3.28.

Wow. You are an example of how this process is such a total crapshoot. Congrats on the acceptance. 30 years in state without hearing a word. I'm jealous 😉

I interviewed 11/14

Note: I was accepted the 28th of November
