Has anyone interviewed at Purdue before do you know when they exactly send out their next batch of letters, they said hopefully by mid-march, that just seems like such a long time to wait! If you did interview there this year what was your interview applicant pool like for in state versus out of state applicant like? I just want to know what my chances are for a spot.

Good luck to everyone who interviewed at any school..... these last few weeks are so gruesome!

Hi. I interviewed on the 24th at Purdue. I am also an in-state resident. I had Drs. Christian, Sizelove, and Raskin. I thought it went pretty well, but you never know! Mid March is correct, and I agree it is a long time to wait. Did you interview elsewhere this year? I went to Western, Mississippi, Michigan State, and Purdue...Purdue and Michigan are my top 2 choices.

Seemed like the vast majority of applicants were out of state (maybe 60:30 in favor of the outta staters). All I know is that they admit like 45 in-staters and fill the class with the outta staters as needed (~20-25).

Good luck to you!

Good Luck to you too! No I didn't apply any where else this year, I kind of realized that I don't really have the money to be spending on lots of applications/transcripts/test scores for so little out of state spots on other schools and I don't think I could afford to pay out of state tuition. I applied to 3 schools last year and didn't get in, but this year I hope to finally get into Purdue, it seems like a very well put together school, I currently work with 3 vets that all went to Purdue ( 1 vet we just hired last summer just graduated in 05 from there) so I get lots of advice and hear all about their facility.

I also like the fact that they keep stressing how small the class size is because everyone will get to know one another and everyone helps each other out, so I know that will be beneficial, but I just hope there's room in that class size for me! It sounds like with all your hardwork and credentials that you've accomplished the past couple years, you will be accepted.
I agree with the fact that my interview went well, I especially liked Dr. Thacker and Dr. Sizelove ( I see that you also had her for an interview, she actually was a classmate of a vet I currently work for so that kind of opened things up in our conversation)She was very nice and was asking me many ethical questions (like "convenience" euthanasia) and questions about running a small animal practice and teamwork in a hospital.

When they finally got to the end of the interview as time was deminishing, they had to ask me the dreading question of what would I do if I didn't get in this year....my reply was " I am going to be optimistic and think that I will be here this fall".... Dr. Thacker replied with " Good Answer"...so my question now is "what the hell does that mean??"

Sorry that this reply is sooo long, these weeks after the interview are so darn nerve racking, I think about everything that went on in the interview and analyze it, because I just want to know already!...... 🙂

This may or may not prove to be helpful to you as you may have already received your letter from Purdue. In spite of that, I'm currently a 1st year at Purdue and interviewed last year the last week in February and received my acceptance on March 11. I assume the timeframe should be similar for this application cycle. Good luck! Purdue's a wonderful school.

I have not heard anything, hopefully next week. I think I will be a little hesitant to choose Purdue if I am accepted, I thought they were on the cold side. I didn't feel very welcome but the students were very nice. Are you happy there? The campus is very nice and I like the small class size. I guess I was just a little mad about having to sit in the hall most of the day. I was expecting the interview day to be more structured. Good luck to everyone!

Hmmmmm...interesting you should say that. I'm from CA myself and got the opposite impression of Purdue. I was accepted at Davis last year but opted for Purdue instead because of the feeling of alienation I felt at Davis and the total lack of structure on interview day.

I'm very content at Purdue. The weather is far from ideal, however, my classmates are great. There's a great sense of comraderie and the professors will go out of their way to assist us in any way possible. I have no basis for comparison but we get hands on experience here very early on and there are plenty of opportunities to work in the LA or SA teaching hospitals. Hope that helps.
