Hi. I am trying to find a roommate for a two bedroom apartment at Jardine across the street from the vet school in Manhattan. I am an out of stater, so I am trying to use all resources to find one before I have to sign a lease. I'll be a first year this fall, C/O 2013.

If you know of any other places you would generally look for a roommate, let me know please!

Thank you

From your post I'm not sure how decided you are on Jardine, but I'm looking for a roommate and my apartment is about 1.5 miles away from the vet school. I'm 29, an out of stater, and will be a third year...three-bedroom apartment but set up as a two-bedroom with an office. 🙂 if you're interested, let me know!

Otherwise, you can post an ad on the KSU CVM's housing website (www.vet.k-state.edu/admit/housing/index.html). good luck!

I would prefer to stay in Jardine for the moment. I am just surprised that the management company does not assign roommates, but instead leaves it completely up to the resident. I'll give it till May and hopefully won't be homeless come August. Thank you, though.

Hi fisdvm,

I'm a resident assistant right now for the residence halls at K-State, but I know a little bit about Jardine because they're all run by K-State Housing and Dining. They go on and on about how Jardine is the halls with "more freedom", which is why they don't assign roommates.

Fill out one of these 'looking for roommate' forms and email it if you haven't already: http://housing.ksu.edu/jardine/roommates.php

You can always call too and they might be able to tell you about someone over the phone. Everyone is usually nice.

A word of warning, though: we over accepted last year and used Jardine as overflow space. This year, it was nearly full for next year at the beginning of March, three weeks after the reservation system for current residents opened.

The apartments are really nice, though. If they'd let me have my hall-legal rabbits, I'd live there.

Are you listing an ad for a roommate with "bunnies"? Haha. I am excited about the fall. And if KSU over accepts and uses the apartments for overflow... >.< just doesn't seem like a great system. If I can't find a roommate I'll probably go for a single on Claflin Rd or something, at least for the first year.

Have you heard anything about what to study the summer before school starts? A 4th year told me that anatomy and neuroanatomy would be beneficial.

See you in August!

Yep, I am the bunny girl. You would be surprised at the number of apartments that will accept dogs and not bunnies in cages. I'm getting close to signing a lease, so I'll be requesting my listing to be taken off of the CVM website hopefully soon. :xf:

The housing department was very disorganized this year. We had a massive influx of international undergraduates due to K-State's Beijing office promoting the university over there which caused most of our overflow. I have a meeting with my boss today and I'll ask him what the current Jardine occupancy situation is. 🙂

As for studying...I'm going to review all of my anatomy notes and probably a little genetics/biochem along with working at my local SA vet clinic and getting asked 'So, SmallAndLA, what do you think x symptom means? Are you suuuuuuuuure?' without seeing the patient.

But I'm going to try and enjoy this summer as well...I figure there will be plenty of studying during the year! I'm really looking forward to August, though!

I was just admitted to K-state from the alternate list and have been searching for apartments. I have 1 cat and a 20# dog and am having a really hard time finding apartments that allow more than one animal. The only ones I have found are Wildcat Inn and University Garden that still have 1 bdrms available for this august. Could anyone give me any opinions on either of these apartments or other places to look into? Thanks for anyones help!
