KSU 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

If for some reason they pick someone off of the alternate list for an interview, how do they go about choosing who they’ll pick off the list ? Is there a line or something ?

you’re so sweet 🥹 hoping the best for you!
It's just been great chatting on this forum. I was sad for all of us when we got the news. I really feel for all of us who are in this situation, not only myself. I see so many amazing applicants that I wish could also gain an acceptance. Well, upward and onward 🥹 I hope everyone else is still waiting for other schools! This isn't over yet!

would anyone who was also interview alternate be willing to share stats with me? you can dm them too and i’ll share mine

are you IS or OOS?

So, I went digging through old threads and reddit (What's new..I'm always digging), and I actually saw instances of people getting lifted off the waitlist. Granted, it was very few and some threads did not have anyone discuss alternate positions. But, there is absolutely 100% a chance for atleast a couple people to be lifted off the list. It is impossible all 400+ people will be able to attend the interviews, so even though it might only be 1 person lifted off the alternate lift, YOU could be that one person.

Don't get too excited, but know it's not over until it's over. Someone heard back for an interview 3 days before their interview date, so be prepared anyway!

What percentage of people were offered admission? I can’t figure it out from your post

From there website Class Statistics
1,982 applications
477 interviews
124 Acceptances

So it seems about 25% of applicants got an interview (24.07% if we are being exact), and about 25% of interviews got accepted (26% if we are being exact). If the class size is 124, how many acceptances did they offer to get that? What is the yield on offers of admission? Anyone know?

Does anyone know if the order of the interview matters? I am an OOS first-time applicant this cycle and I got my interview and it is one of the early afternoon slots on the last day of interviews. It is making me nervous that maybe I am just one of their last choices! Anyone have any thoughts or info on this?

I have an interview on the 17th. I do not think that it means anything. I am sure that they just put us all into different time slots. I wouldn't overthink it!

I’m pretty sure I was one of the last days they offered and I got accepted last year!! 🙂 it really does no matter to them!

I thought an email back on 11/22 was from last year. But I made the interview alternate list. Any thoughts on how much that could move this year?

Not much if any at all. They said 10 people usually and the have almost everyone who had a qualifying application on this alternate list.

Yeah I saw she thought maybe 10 people would get called off but I wasn’t holding my breath. I got waitlisted last year. Bummer.

When are Kansas interviews again so I can know if I definitely didn’t make it off the waitlist?

Does anyone know if the interviews are closed or open file?

I was accepted to my in-state school and have officially accepted my seat there, so I emailed today declining my interview invitation. Hoping that someone gets good news about being pulled from the waitlist!
Congrats!! Ughhh I wish I could hear back from my in-state school so soon 😭

I believe they sent everyone interviewing postcards last year! I got one and was OOS! It was super cute! 🙂

Hi everyone! I am a current 4th year at KSU. Feel free to ask me any questions, and I will hopefully see you all at interviews in January!
Hello! I’ve reached out to ask if the K-State interviews are open/closed, approximate length, and if they are behavioral based, but did not receive a response. Could you provide any insight into this?
Thanks!!

They will/should be sending out an email with a ton of interview information soon but this was from my interview email/peronal experience last year:
  • They have reviewed apps
  • If I remember correctly it was like a 30 min time block for the interview and they usually tried to leave 5-10 minutes of that for questions
  • I would also classify these under "behavioral" if we're choosing between behavioral and MMI, but I would also say that they said multiple times through the process was that the interview was for KSU to get a good idea of you as a candidate outside of your app (meaning they want to get a feel for you overall considering all they have is your stats on a sheet of paper).
  • KSU and UMN were the two interviews I loved the most actually, they were not bad/stressful at all and I loved talking with my interviewers!

Hope that helps, I'm not sure I'm allowed to talk much more about it but you should hopefully be getting a big email soon with your interview information that basically says what I put above + some more.
