Accepted to TCOM, waitlisted for UTMB, on hold at Case. Chances of getting into either...not too good, probably. Planning on sending letters of interest in the next week or two to both schools and hoping for some love to come my way in April or May. 🙂

Has anyone who interviewed at UTHSCSA, and did not match nor receive an alternate pool letter, get a rejection letter yet?

some got letters... most just called UTSA! They're pretty nice about everything. Might as well find out thru them! Good LUCK! :luck:

*sigh* i guess it's never too early to think about this one!

(Although don't give up hope yet guys... things should start moving by Mid-March to Early April 😀 )

Anyhow... I think I will continue working in a healthcare environment... maybe continue doing some research with a professor at my grad school... and work on tweeking up my application in May.

I was thinking about writing a letter of intent... but not sure what to say or how to say it... any ideas?

Good Luck everyone! Happy Waiting! 😴

Rise and shine Texas.
How's everybody feeling.
I went to the gym today and if felt good.
I got an exam tomorrow and then like one next week before spring break.
Thanks txkiwieyes for putting me on the list.

Any new waitlist info.

Did they send you a waitlist letter or was this the first you heard from them?

it was first letter from them (after the invitation for interview)

Happy Wednesday. March is slowly progressing but it is definitely here.

Hope you all have a great day!

😍

🙂

You know I think the reason why this thread is slow now is cause I think we all found out all that we need to know about the waitlist. Initially no one knew what to do or how it would work, but after badgering the admissions people and getting all the info. We are all calm and just watiting.
As i said it's obvious but figure this way i can move the thread up on first page.

Hey, TB have you talked to Dr. Maldonado about your situation, I figure since he's cool, he might tell you something. and I posted this before but no one answered so where did you inteview the first time you applied.

Last year I interviewed at TAMU.

No, I have not talked to Maldonado yet. Have you?

So TAMU was the only school that interviewed again, wow that doesn't make sense, cause i think if TAMU interviews you then UTSA and tech needs to show you some love as well. Plus, everyone says how UTSA loves non-tradional people, so wow.

TB, like i mentioned before I talked to him like couple of weeks ago when he came to my school, and truthfully i can't remember much now, but I remember him saying TAMU ranks people (which we all know), and that all the schools do eventually, so i don't know why schools are telling us it's a pool. And i can't think of anything else he might have said.
I just talked to him about me and he said basically yeah this stuff is unpredictable. he was very helpful and eased my tension a bit.

hey do you think Dr. M reads this thread.

ANYTHING is possible 😉

So how do these schools let you know that you have been accepted off of a waitlist. Do they call, e-mail, or snail mail. Anyone know?

TB - I only know that TCOM said they would call, and then send a formal letter. I don't know about the other schools. I broke down and called UTH Monday, even though I already figured I wasn't on the alternate list. No big deal, just one less school to worry about at this point.

Hey true blue! 🙂

Quick irrelevant question: Are you a coog too? I think I remember you saying somewhere that you went to UH.

Cool! Go coogs! I wish they had our hand sign on here, with the ring finger down 😀
I think you're the 1st UH alum I've seen on here. No one else could relate to such burdens as having Dr. Bean for o-chem 😛

I agree! I got the impression that every faculty member in that department (with possible exception of Bott) gets up in the morning to fail people! It's like their mission in life or something 🙄

Did you ask UTH about the waitlist, you never know, you might still be on it.
So what did UTH tell you about how they will contact the students if they are accepted off the waitlist.
Also, I talked to someone on UTH waitlist and he told them to take him off, so if they said no one called.....

Can someone call teh schools and see if they are telling us how many people are on the waitlist and how many people are still overaccepted now that people have had chance to tell them no.
If i have any kind of info it will make me feel better.

On side note, have you noticed for the last three pages my post is the last one and then i think that's why no one reads it. I don't know why I have such bad luck.

Hey guys. I just wanted to share my experience with being pulled off the Tech waitlist this past summer. They (Linda Prado) called my parents the Friday before the 1st class day and said they had contacted 3 people to offer a spot in the class; the first person to make a decision and call back to accept the offer was admitted. Keep in mind, this was a last minute offer; I doubt they'd put such high pressure on at the beginning or middle of summer. Be sure to keep yourself reachable toward the end of the summer in case this happens!!! Linda said each year they offer several spots to people right before school starts.

Hope this wasn't too wordy!! 😴

Yikes! That really is cutting it close. Of course, it'd be a nice surprise if I heard back from UTMB on the last day of May! (assuming, of course, that my name will be removed from the waitlist in June b/c I have an acceptance elsewhere)

Speaking of which...any word on UTMB's waitlist movement? (or, should I say, lack of movement) 😉

I'd go at T minus 1 hour. 😍

Do I sound desperate? 😉

Hey UTKB, so did you turn down tech to re-apply this year? Or did you not respond in time to get the spot? If you could clarify this I'd be most appreciative, since I believe UTSW uses a similar method. Thanks for the info!

Thanx for the love tb 😍

UH is ok, it's perpetually under construction but we finally got a new library! Oh and the new honors college is fabulous. And the UC Satellite was re-done as well. But I think they need to raise the admission standards here or something, the place is just WAY too crowded. You have to plan ahead to get lunch now because you spend like half an hour in line! But other than that it's ok. Many of my interviewers criticized my decision to come here, which I don't understand because I think that it's very much possible to get a good education here. And we don't have grade inflation. I think UH is underrated/written off by a lot of people, which isn't fair. Just my opinion though.

Curiosity question, why do you think they questioned your decision to attend UH. Do you think it's b/c of yout high MCAT or what?

This should get this page pumping again! If only we could get more ppl with experiences of being pulled from the waitlist to share!!! too bad most of us are the "wait-ers"!

IF you have an acceptance from a waitlist experience.... PLEASE POST! I'm sure it will give hope to many! hehe...

They asked me why I "chose to attend a school that I knew wouldn't challenge me." Or at least this is how one interviewer in particular (F you, UTMB) chose to phrase it. They asked me because I am from Nevada and had a 1480 on the SAT, 2nd in my high school class, etc. (TMDSAS asks for HS class rank and SAT/ACT scores). The reason I came here was because UH is one of 6 schools in the nation that will pay for everything if you're a National Merit Scholar: Tuition, room, board, and books. It may not be that prestigious, but to me it was well worth it since I now have no undergrad debt whatsoever going into medical school.

I think there is way too much bias against schools that aren't ivy league or almost ivy league. A lot of the lesser known state schools give just as good an education, and we don't have the rampant grade inflation that other schools *cough* RICE! *cough* have. But that's just my opinion.

Why is no one posting, we are on the bottom of page 2.

I'm sure people are still feeling uneasy about being in this position, so share it. it'll make it easier.

Anyone called any school, i'll do it after my examS.
Is that why no one is posting.

Well, I can't speak for others, but work has been quite hectic for me this week so I haven't been able to post as much. I imagine some of you guys are in the midst of midterms.

Good luck on exams!

Finally got my rejection letter from UTHSCSA. They said something about sending the letter so that I can make "alternative plans." Great...

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but I have to disagree with you-- I don't think there is grade inflation at rice.

When they offered me the spot, I wasn't prepared at all to go. I had a new job, aparment, and boyfriend to think about. Not to mention plans to make and the distance I had to travel in like 2.5 days (Houston to Lubbock 😱 ). I had already turned in my TMDSAS app and felt better about my chances the 2nd time around, so I was thinking I could get into a school I would prefer to go to. So yes, I was the first to reply back but I turned the spot down. It's a good thing I got in this year, or it would have been a huge mistake!!! 🙂

Hmmm....that was brave UTKB!

I have to admit though, that if I got a call like that, I would say, "To hell with y'all!" 😀

*Sigh*

I was just told it would be around 180 people. 😱

I agree that some state schools offer a great education...but Rice doesn't inflate grades. BELIEVE me.

Actually, ALL schools have grade inflation. It's just that private schools inflate their grades more so than public schools.

Here's UT-H for you: I called about waitlist status today and the woman said that she maybe wasn't sure that they would or wouldn't take anyone from the waitlist for fall. How's that for a straight answer? This stuff drives me nuts! Let me know if one of you gets a better response. Good luck to all.

:barf:

I just don't get it!

Hey ya'll

When i called UTH a while ago they told me the same thing, they will not take anyone off the waitlist, but when i asked well didn't this happen last year as well. They said yes and did take people off. So I am hoping they take some. I really wanna go to that school, and i hate the fact that i cant contact anyone there saying i wanna come there. does anyone know anyone that I could contact there.

And TB,
looks like A&M list is long. I guess hald of the people didn't tell them no. but since they have 91 people for 80 spots it seems waitlist movement might not be good. But someone posted a while ago that they accepted alot people from BYU and that hopefully those people will withdraw. whoever said it, i hope you are right.

Any info on any of the other schools.

I counted A&M's list it's 87. So 8 more people, comeon pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease

Good morning and Happy Friday!!!!!!

🙂 :luck:

In her defense, she most likely cannot answer definitively whether or not anyone will be taken off the list at this point. If you think about it, in order to take someone off the waitlist, 20-30 people must decline their UTH acceptances. However, seeing that Baylor (as well as many other schools) won't finish handing out acceptances til March 15 (or later) and AMCAS doesn't require final decisions til May 15, it is premature to be making such demands on office staff. And the woman you spoke with is just office staff. She has no control over waitlist decisions.

I truly feel empathetic for all waiting on decisions. It's an incredibly stressful situation to be placed in. But I honestly don't think you will see any waitlist movement til mid-March at the earliest - so please give the staff a break.
