Day 2

Michael looked around in disbelief. Everything had seemed so under control. The first day in the neighborhood had been mostly great. Everything was going according to plan. And yet... he'd heard some rumblings, whispers speculating that for The Good Place, this neighborhood seemed not-so-good. How could anyone think that? He'd worked so hard to make the perfect place!

Theories abounded, some correct, some wild, some wrapped in more tinfoil than the thickest Chipotle burrito ("I'm cooking!" came a tinny voice). Jason put a tinfoil hat over his eyes and boldly declared that "now the microwaves can't get me because I'm the microwave," which everyone politely chuckled while judging him for that egg-smooth brain. Did that mean his brain was a microwaved egg?

The group couldn't help but feel that things had changed. That somehow, it would be better now that they were sure they understood The Good Place and how it worked. "We have to help each other!" they exclaimed. "That's the secret to The Good Place!" It seemed they'd already forgotten that someone had died in the afterlife... no matter. Weren't they all dead anyway? What's deader than dead? Chef Patricia

"This is what we have to do!" they cried triumphantly as they ran toward a large, red button conveniently located at about chest height. Some expressed hesitation, but the crowd was swept up in their conviction that they were on the right track.

And they were right... at some point... maybe.

"NO NO NONONONONONO!!!" came a shriek as their hands slammed down on the button, before someone went silent.

And then ...




Nothing.


Suddenly, seemingly from all around them, came a loud and yet soothing voice.​
