And the schools I applied to were UNECOM, OU-HCOM, MSUCOM, LECOM (erie), ATSU-KCOM, ATSU-SOMA, PCOM, GA-PCOM, RowanSOM, MU-COM (didn't know about their 3.1 cutoff till my money was already sent :bang:). Interviewed at PCOM, GA-PCOM, and UNECOM. Last one surprised me because of their averages, but I'm from up north so that might have been a factor. GA-PCOM waitlisted and then accepted me. Long road but I'm glad it paid off.

I'm unsure about my sGPA considering I have 29 hours of science classes in grad school and certain schools average that with my UG while others consider it separately. I suppose we'll see what the schools say! Good luck everyone!

Congratulations! Do you mind sharing what your masters GPA was? I'm also a an URM and in a biomedical masters program.

@metoo I graduated with a 3.36 master's GPA. Even though I had a pretty significant upward trend leaving undergrad, my study skills still weren't the absolute best, ya know. Or at least not of medical school caliber. So that first semester of grad school had a few B-'s. But I got it together and finished out with B+'s mostly from that point on, with the occasional A-, flat A or flat B sprinkled in there lol. Technically my biomedical masters program is only 2 years, but I stayed an extra year to take some more science courses to prove to myself and adcoms (mostly adcoms lol) that I could undoubtedly handle upper-level science work. Also, that allowed me to send academic updates throughout the app cycle. That extra year was my personal choice and it definitely cost me another 40k in loans (sigh), but I felt it helped me a lot and it ended up working in my favor. Wouldn't recommend it though if you're doing relatively well in your masters program already. Plus, like I mentioned in an earlier post, the first half of ug wasn't exactly the most promising start for me, so the more good grades the better lol. Kudos to you all with the 3.5+ masters GPAs. Those A's take serious work!

Thank you so much for this. I've been worried all day because goro said my 3.0cgpa/3.1sgpa/514 will be a problem for most DO schools. Your post came at the perfect time!

Edit: I understand the road will be very tough for me due to early mistakes in college, but it's good to know it's possible.

I did have a 4.0 in grad school as well which I neglected to mention. But still... A 514 will go a long way I think. Also, Goro isn't always right...sorry Goro.

I posted due to a downward trend for last year or two of school (of five years of undergrad) and a terrible 1st MCAT. Anyone know which schools average multiple scores? There was a two month gap between my two exams. Applied to 26 schools

How much of a downward trend? 488-->501 is a pretty significant recovery and there are schools out there that only consider your best MCAT attempt.

Being a volunteer firefighter gives you opportunity to fit into a school with a service-oriented mission. PM me if you want to talk about this. I've done a lot of research because of my background as an AEMT.
