Hi all,

I've noticed that there are plenty of threads from around 2011+ with people listing their stats as underdogs with respective acceptances, interviews, time of verification, etc. I was wondering if someone had made a thread like this for the 2016-2017 application cycle, as those previous threads were really helpful. If not, someone make one!!!!

We can make this the official underdawgs thread :)

Haha okay, but how can I change the title so as to erase the "??"
I can get an outline for participants going in a bit as well.

@Alienman52 I have no idea how to edit the title of a thread, but you could just start another! Call it the official underdawgs thread!

Haha me too man! I'm doing a bit of work right now, but I'll take a look at the old underdog threads for templates in a bit. In the meantime, maybe @AlteredScale can remove the question marks on the thread title hahaha I have no idea how to go about editing it.:laugh::laugh:

OH haha true true. Well yay thanks for taking the initiative!

To quote @AlteredScale:

"It is is reserved for those w/ less than a 24/500 MCAT or less than 3.25 sGPA or cGPA. It can be either of those particulars, or both. Additionally, I would consider those that have 6/124 or below within a subsection of the MCAT to be within the underdawg range as well"

^I updated this a little to include the new MCAT!

Best of luck everyone.
It'll be interesting to see what's considered an underdog 4 years from now after we've graduated.

Lol Underdog is like under or at 3.3c AND 3.3s with less than 502 MCAT

Dude. The more about your story I hear, the more I am thoroughly convinced we are living paralleled lives. Maybe we're twins separated at birth and our parents never told us.

Hahaha it has to be true! I'm so happy to finally get to know my long lost twin. We should sign up for one of those twin studies where we grew up apart, the people in support of strictly genetic attributions would love it. Two twins grew up completely separate living the same lives, they'll go nuts.

Aside from that, I'll be closing following and rooting for success for you! Hopefully people don't read our personal statements and think we copied off each other lol

Probably a dumb question but the GPAs listed above are with grade replacement correct? Also, since post-bac grades are counted as undergrad, do most people not include them in their overall gpa? for example 3.0/3.2 (post-bac 4.0) does that mean that the post-bac grades are included into the 3.0/3.2 and they are just mentioning the post-bac or that they are not calculating them together? im just trying to figure out how to gauge people's gpas with my own.

I would give your GPA w/o post bacc first, then you can mention your post bacc parenthetically next to your uGPA. Or you can just include then in the GPA without listing the post bacc parenthetically at all.

the only thing about that is that post-bacc grades are counted as undergrad grades in terms of cGPA and are not separate like a masters GPA is...my gpa would look a lot different without the postbacc due to the grade replacement

Lol so just include the post bacc in your gpa, and also include the post bacc gpa exclusively in parentheses. Keep in mind that an underdog will typically have no greater than a 3.3 gpa and 502 mcat.

You better believe my cGPA includes grade replacement lol.

I would include post-bacc into your c/s GPA. Many people retake their courses after completing their degree, so those courses taken as a post-bac are actually included in your undergrad cumulative and science GPA, I believe.

I'd throw my application info in a thread for that! Even if it's not this one, we should totally make one. Osteopathic application people of 2016-2017 or something of that nature.

Do schools really look at trending when considering an applicant because I'm freaking out cus my GPA's are competitive when looked at with my trending but will they see/care about that???

Edward Via Campus puts emphasis on last 120 credits. I know a couple do a similar scenario (Last 60/90 credits).

A 0.06 drop should not hurt you at all though.

People, please be sure that when you post your stats, that you are actually an underdog. Again, usually someone with less than 3.3c AND 3.3s with under a 503 MCAT

I'm confused. So would my 3.1 cGPA and 3.36 sGPA not make me and underdog? I'm coming back from a 2.37 cGPA so I feel like an underdog...

I would normally say yes (that you're an underdog), but you have a 513 MCAT, which is a 30+ on the old scale. (Above the averages for every single DO school) I mean you can keep your stats up if you wish but to be honest I really don't think you'll have much of a problem if you apply broadly haha

Let say "or" since you have s little bit weak in GpA. I think it's ok since underdog can be both weak in gpa and mcat or just one area weak. The more the merrier

Agreed! I don't think my 513 completely makes up for the F's on my old transcripts.
