And just a reminder I interviewed last september and was accepted in january, some people interviewed after me and were accepted before me so anything is possible.

Hi guys, just an FYI, today I received the official acceptance letter via snail mail. It, of course, includes the letter of acceptance and instructions on things needed before attending such as a medical physical, college transcripts, deposit, background check, drug and alcohol testing, etc..

Do they usually not respond when you send a letter of intent?

For those of you that received acceptances yesterday, what did your status on the portal say on the portal prior to you being notified of your acceptance?

"The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 30 days."
Still says this, actually.

For mine, It said “none” on ADEA
LECOM portal said “The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 30 days."

so how long did it take for your portal status to change after you interviewed? or did it change very close to acceptance time?

Hello,

I interviewed on Nov 29th.
I checked my portal next day and it changed to ‘none’ and ‘admission committee blah blah’

Has anyone received a scholarship with their acceptance package?

I was just wondering if LECOM offers scholarships (without applying to one)

Not that I've heard of. There is one once you get here that they explain after your first 2 months.

Should I be expecting something more than the acceptance letter received 12/3?

I believe you don't receive any additional items (matriculation packet that goes over everything in detail) until you've paid the deposit. You may receive something about paying for a background check.

Okay, so I have sent the deposit, request my Uni to send transcript after graduation, and paid for background check. Is there anything else I can do right now?

The matriculation packet is sent out later on I believe which has more info on proving you're up to date on your immunizations. After the deposit, you should be set until Shannon emails or sends you a letter.

Some random questions..

-What are the library hours?
-What is the expected utility bill (for any size ... 1/2/3 bedrooms)
-What would be a reasonable amount of start-up fund I would need to move in?
-Do most students have roommates
-How safe is the area on campus
-Do we pay for parking permits
-Any available transportations for free (Shuttles/buses)

Thank you!

Great questions, I have been considering the same things

  • Library is open from 7am to 11pm daily. (med school has similar hours if you want to use theirs)
  • Utility bill depends on how much energy you and/or your roommate(s) use.
  • To be frank, you're going to need a lot of money up front. You need to move down here, sign your lease (app fees, admin fees, deposit, first month, and renter's insurance), set up utilities (plus deposits or installation fees, if they require it) and then money to live off of (food, gas, etc.). If you're going the student loan route, you don't get your disbursement check until 2 weeks after the official start of classes (like every other college) so it'll be the end of July before you can deposit that check.
    • On that note, you do need to account for your dental kit. The price should be listed on your COA sheet. The kit needs to be paid off in full before you can receive your dental kit. So that "big" check you're expecting, is basically cut in half and you don't get the next disbursement check until January.
  • Most students have 1-2 other roommates and live in the apartments on LWR Blvd (3-4 minutes from school with morning traffic)
  • The area around here is safe. I haven't heard of anything happening nearby. The fire department is right down the road too.
  • Parking permits are free. You'll pick them up before registration day.
  • There are no transpiration methods to/from school. So you will either need to drive or ride a bike.

Hey Everyone....so excited to be accepted to LECOM and my whole family is looking forward to the next few years in Bradenton! I am an older student with a family and 4 school aged kids. Looking for resources/advice on housing, schools, etc that would be more applicable to a large family? Also, would love any contact info for fellow LDS students would be great! Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

We have a number LDS members in our class of 2022 and an LDS club as well. If you can find the 2023 FB page (linked above I think) and make a post I can tag some of our class members that may be able to help you.

For the people that have already interviewed, anybody's status on LECOM's portal change to "a decision has been made" or is most people still under review?

Sorry I should have clarified. I meant people that interviewed pre-december that didn't hear back on the 3rd. Congrats though!

I'm still under review I don't think it'll change until we get real close to January 3rd now.

Everyone who was offered a seat on 12/3 has until 1/3 to secure their seat with the deposit. After that, I believe it turns into rolling admissions.

I believe lecom has two acceptance date Dec 3rd and Jan 3rd so I think they'll be sending out more acceptances on the 3rd

My application was "none" and just went to "received/under review." Applief July but didnt pay supplement till September

So lecom sent me today an update to check the portal. I went there expecting a denied or something but turned out they were saying my secondary is processed and my application is under review. I checked my requirement and nothing was missing thankfully.

For people who got that email months ago, how long did it take them to make a decision after such an update?

I think it was 2 hours for me

Wow, I hope it was a good outcome though. :cat:
Thanks for the reply.
It was, it was for an interview!
Keep in mind that this was in August if I'm remembering correctly. A friend got a response in about a business day, I'd expect a way slower timeline with the holidays right around the corner

My app had no update since september. Yesterday it went to under review and i got an invite today.

I need people’s advice!
Do you think I have a chance for acceptance to Lecom with a 3.3 sgpa, 3.3 ogpa, 20 AA, 22 TS and 20 PAT? My interview at Lecom is the 1/31

‏ I have higher stats and I got waitlisted.
It’s not all about the stats, it’s about how you represent yourself and your experience
I am trying to dm you. But it won’t let me. I have a few questions about Lecom and your experience.

You have an interview, that means on paper you are qualified to go to their dental school. Now it's up to you to show them that's true in person at the interview
