No, they're different lists. The earlier one was put up shortly after Nov. 15, and it had the names of those who'd pre-matched and sent back confirmation letters right away. As per my understanding, by confirming/accepting, these people locked themselves into UTH very quickly as their top in-state choice or top choice-while-awaiting-match/waitlist movement (by my understanding of the FUBARed match process this year). There were 17-25 names on it by the end of the semester.

That list was removed over Winter Break, and nothing was on the wall until this morning, when the new list went up. As per my understanding, this is traditional; every year the admissions office lists the "matched" class to students/faculty/staff. (Accepted students should also get a copy of it in your packets now or a little later; I can't remember exactly.) Do some of the people on it not end up enrolling due to taking an OOS or other offer? No doubt. How many? I have no idea. So there will be some movement, but it's hard to anticipate how much.

For those who didn't match, there will certainly be a waitlist. You're just in for some long, grueling months of blind hoping. Spots will open up as some students accept OOS offers and as new Baylor admits release their spots. If they're following the pattern of previous years, Baylor should be at about 40-50% of their initial offers, so they should have another 150ish offers to give out between now and July. Those will trickle down, along with released seats for OOS-goers. But unfortunately, I wouldn't get my hopes up for a flood of spots to open up anytime between now and May or June, when students nationwide have to drop down to only one acceptance.

Yes at the time of application... my science is up over 3.5 now but my overall has barely changed.

I have two ugrad degrees so I have an insane number of hours. My post-bacc barely moved my overall but bumped my science up a ton - from 3.3 before I started.
 
where did you do your postbacc at?

did you do it to work on your gpa? experiences there? etc. etc.

you can pm me if you'd like so it doesn't clutter up or get lost in this thread
 
Sorry, not posting my post-bac school. I'd lose any shread of privacy I still have on this forum 😉

It wasn't a formal post bacc anyway. I did it to pick up the courses that i didn't have (both degrees are in liberal arts). Sorry - not too much to share. Just took classes.

Seriously - one reason why I did a post-bacc is that I spent ugrad thinking I was too dumb for med school. Then after I graduated and did some work abroad I realized that was a pretty stupid way to live your life. Someone told me, "If you're not going to med school because you don't want to, I respect that. But if you're not going because you're afraid of failing, then that's bull****." And they were right. That's why I went back to school. And now I'm so glad I did. 🙂

All the positive news about the waitlist at UT-H, I like. Unfortunately, I just want to know if I am on it, and what rank 🙂. Hopefully, they will step up like UTSW did and notify us with something tomorrow or soon.

Read the Houston list. Lots of names I don't recognize. I do feel slightly warm and tingly knowing that aggiesarah and anastasis are on there somewhere.

Also alot of taht stuff on that Houston info page for acceptees looks like 2006 material. Guess we have to wait a little while

Hey guys I have been missing for a while...yes I did not get the waitlist email for UTSW...I was a little upset because I did want to stay in Texas and would of there...but I do wish everyone the best and hope you all get off the waitlists quickly!

Ana,

How many undergrad hours do you have overall? What was you GPA's before the post bacc? How many post bacc hours did you take?

You and I are in a similar situation. By the time I'm done I will be drowing in undergrad hours (but my GPA is benefitting from the rehab)!
 
Does anyone know if UTMB has a waiting list or sent out a wating list email??
 
I was thinking about this last night...

I bet almost everybody who accepts an instate spot at Baylor will also be holding a TMDSAS admission.

That's about 150 people. Probably at least 100 of those haven't yet given up their TMDSAS spot (1/3 haven't even been admitted to Baylor yet!) Yes, that's a WAG, but it seems about right.

So I'm thinking there are about 100 spots of waitlist movement right there, plus any random people who choose to go out-of-state. That's at least a small silver lining. 😳

i totally agree. i have a prematch from utsw, but will withdraw my application if/when i am accepted to baylor. for instate applicants it is unfortunate that baylor controls the flow of acceptances. since it seems they are moving more slowly than usual it appears there may be alot of movement in april and may. all is not lost! alot of things will begin shifting in the coming months!
 
Wow. From the looks of it, it seems that UTH and UTSW (excluding Baylor) were applicants #1 and #2 choices for schools in Texas.

I emailed TCOM about their waitlist; here's the response:

Yes, we have already sent those letters out. Unfortunately, we never reveal where anyone is on the waitlist only that you are. Applicants will often ask how much movement we've had, where they are on the waitlist, etc, and our policy is to not reveal too many details due to the fact that we will never know how many seats will come available, how much movement will occur, or how far down we'll get on our waitlist. What I can tell you is that as soon as movement occurs, it often creates movement across the state, and therefore openings come available. Also, as applicants take seats at schools outside of Texas, our class will be affected.
