hey flop. jbrice, cubs, and anyone else that has been accepted - what was your GPA and MCAT scores? I interviewed at Loyola in early November and am also waiting anxiously by the mailbox for the decision (hopefully acceptance) letter. It will probably take at least until Monday to reach Colorado, and I can hardly wait.

If you've made it to the interview at Loyola during this time of year I wouldn't be too concerned with the numbers. Rather, how did the interview go? If it went decent or better you will probably get accepted.

Congrats to some and good luck to others!

Hey Colorado - I don't think Loyola is super interested in numbers - I know mine are painfully average (28 MCAT 3.4 GPA). I think that they really look at the entire package. I had some pretty unique and strong ECs that I think helped me out. I also think that if you are interviewing this early, you stand a really super strong chance of being accepted. I have no evidence for this, but do notice that nobody that has interviewed there on SDN has been rejected yet.

hey, i second flop saying that loyola isn't a numbers school...my stats and ECs are in my mdapps profile (in my sig)...but a quick breakdown is a 3.2 overall...3.5 postbacc (all science courses, but my bcpm was still around a 3.2) and a 36 MCAT (12,12,12,Q)

also, congrats cubs...although, not sure about having cubs as your name and quoting hawk for your celebratory post (at least that's my thoughts as a cub fan)...either way, enjoy gibsons...what a great place!

haha, thanks for calling me out jbrice on the sox quote - i felt dirty when i wrote - i'm a true blue cubs fan; as far as numbers go, gpa 3.86, 31Q - good luck to all those waiting

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I think my interviews went pretty well so hopefully I'll get that acceptance letter (keep your fingers crossed :luck: ). I am one of those applicants with a strong GPA (3.9+) but an average MCAT score (29). I'm hoping the letter comes by Monday so I can relax alittle, but I'll let you know how things turn out.

Don't worry, man. We haven't forgotten you! I'm still crossing everything...

Do you guys or gals know if the interview at loyola is open or closed file? I looked at the interview feedback and some say it is, and some say it isnt.

And me...I am dangling in limbo, somewhere between interview invite and rejection with a forthcoming review! 😱

Congrats to all who have heard, good fortune to all who interviewed and are waiting to hear, and THE BEST OF LUCK to all waiting to get an interview!!!!!!!

Like I said, all I want under my Christmas tree is an acceptance to Loyola….if I have to leave my tree up until May, so be it! 😉

It is a hybrid, which is why there is conflicting info on the interview page. The interviewer sees everything EXCEPT your transcript, GPA, and MCAT.

WOW! Go, Speedracer, GO! Congrats!

You guys are gonna have to help a girl out here! Send those good luck Loyola vibes my way, please! 😀

A letter from Loyola would make a lovely Christmas present!

I got in too!!!! It was so random because I haven't even received the letter yet since it is being sent home to Colorado. However, they also sent my advisor a copy of my acceptance letter and he sent me an email this morning congratulating me!!! I called him right away to see how he already knew and he told me....my day just got soooo much better!!!

I'm still here.....I was out of town this weekend (Chicago of all places!) so no internet surf time.

For those still waiting for an interview who are complete, have you heard anything about what time we could reasonably expect to hear? I would hope they would go through people complete in Sept/October before the new year.....

I'm also glad to hear that Loyola looks at more than numbers. I've got a high GPA/Medium MCAT combo as well but a fair amount of ECs.

yeah, I applied to a bunch of schools last year as MSTP or MD/PhD and only got into Iowa MD. I decided to take a year and think about it. My boyfriend (who I've known for going on 6 years) took a job out on the west side of Chicago. After a few months we both did not like living apart and I decided that if I could get in, I would move (he has a very very nice job that I would never make him give up). After looking at the schools there and deciding what was important to me, I decided that Loyola was really the only one I would go to over Iowa. That and they have a new Bioethics program which Iowa lacks as well as the MD/PhD option. So I figure why waste a bunch of extra money to apply to all the area schools when they are not as good, have an extremely high suicide rate, or are way more expensive than Iowa when there was only one that i like what I read/heard/saw. Hopefully I get to see everyone on this thread there next year!!

😍 BUMP 😍

I wish my phone would ring! Maybe I have jinxed myself as I have not had my suit dry-cleaned after the last (which was my first and only) interview. What do you think? In addition, I keep saying a letter of acceptance from Loyola is all I want under my Christmas tree this year, BUT I DON’T HAVE A TREE! :scared: HELP!!!

I should go to bed...I hate these hours, they really screw around with one's physiology! Besides, I have to get up early to get a haircut before I go to work....eeeww, work. Don't get me wrong, I like my job (won't say love as I am not all that jazzed up about the 45,000,000 CODE BROWN's I am called to per night) and I love the people I work with, I just find it hard to concentrate on anything right now. Anyone with me?

Good night, sleep tight, don't let the adcoms bite!
Mota, gdbaby, usarmydoc....we will have sweet dreams of successful Loyola interviews! :luck:

So hopefully you can expect an invite around christmas!
THey said they had a fast turnaround time from the meeting to getting invites/acceptances out

I called for my status check today and I was told that they are re-reviewing my app sometime after the first of the year. Sigh. First GW, now Loyola. I am hoping that they all get so fat and full of egg nog oover the holidays and feel so bad about themselves that they grant an interview to a poor slob such as myself to make themselves feel better.

I am happy to be their back-up ho'.

that is the same thing they told me about a week or so ago....i am so sad! gdbaby, can we have a pity party together? i will bring the vodka! hey - is it snowing in CO? Chi-town is getting blanketed! i believe that is why everyone at Loyola's admissions office is MIA....left early on account of SNOW!!!!

Makes me think I should have called today.........I'm sure that I'm probably in a similar situation......meanwhile I stuff myself with some homade truffles that I made this afternoon.
Oh well, at least we both have an Iowa acceptance to fall back on! Hopefully your wish of becoming their "back-uo-ho" comes true!!

I hope they arn't finished reviewing applications yet before christmas sets in!! :scared: I havn't even been reviewed yet or completed for that matter!! They are going very slow with my application. I know everything is in and it is just waiting to be sent to the committee. I really hope I get an interview!

Hey I just interviewed at Loyola this week and I'm wondering about sending thank you letters to my interviewers and/or a letter of interest to the assistant dean. Did you guys who got accepted send these?

i sent thank you cards, but no letter of interest. i figured i'd hold out on the letter until i found out if i got in or waitlisted or whatever. i did express interest in loyola in my thank you cards, though...just not in a formal letter.

Do you address the letters to the admissions office and they pass them on to the interviewers? Because I'm not sure how to mail it to my interviewers directly. One of them was a professor, the other was a 2nd year student. And did you also send a thank you letter to the assistant dean Ms. Norstrom?

The dean was actually out on a recruiting trip during my interview day, so I did not send anything to her. I just addressed my letters to my interviewers and put "care of admissions office" and put that address on the envelope. i assume that worked out fine since they weren't returned to me. hope this helps 🙂

I didn't send thank you cards... by the time I bought them, and got the stamps for them, I already received my acceptance letter. I am now wondering if I should still send them... hmm...

CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE OF YOU who ALREADY GOT ACCEPTED INTO THIS WONDERFUL SCHOOL.

Does anyone know when Loyola stop sending interview invites? I called the office yesterday, they said that my application is still under review, the committee had looked at my application, but still under reivew.

Anyone on the same boat?

There are many aboard that vessel with you my friend! I myself am one of them! I have called and been told the same thing. I know that they are still giving interviews, it is still early in the season.... feels like it has been an eternity for me, though, but I am an April MCATer and that is probably why.

I think of Loyola all day and all night...I cannot help it! I love EVERYTHING about the school, I have friends that go there, I am surrounded by grinning Loyola residents at work all night long, I work with alums who constantly praise the school and all the SDNers that have gained acceptance to Stritch for the class of 2010 are totally great people I would love to spend 4 grueling years with.......AAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!! Sorry, I am driving myself crazy again.

Don't throw in the towel of hope just yet bro, I know it is really hard to be optimistic at times, but sometimes hope is ALL YOU HAVE TO HANG ON TO!!!!!! 😀

OK.. totally stupid question, but watching the news footage of the plane that crashed is waking me up to the reality that I won't be living in California next year (ahh, it is 68 degrees right now...)

Seriously silly question, but how do you drive? I mean, do you get those special tires with the little nubby metal thingies? Do you have to put chains on your tires in the particularly bad weather? If you are too scared to drive in the icy mess, when you wait for the bus, are there heated little bus stops?

I guess you are right. We have to be optimistic to survive this painful process. Hopefully we can be classmates next year. Good luck to you, buddy.

i thought about you warm weather folks this morning when i was driving my wife to work. yeah...the snow takes some getting used to if you've never driven in it before. you definitely don't need spiked tires or chains...in fact, it's illegal to drive on the streets around here with them because it damages the pavement. invest in some good all weather tires though...personally, i would recommend good year regattas...i drive a 96 grand prix with front wheel drive, and since i put those tires on, i have never gotten stuck even in my unplowed alley.

as far as the bus stops, some do have little shelters to protect you from snow/rain/wind, but i don't think i've come across many that are heated. i would imagine, for gas costs alone, there will probably be some carpooling set up amongst our class, so on really bad days, i'm sure those of us more used to driving in the snow would be willing to pick up a few classmates.
