I paid my deposit early last week, and then e-mailed them the acceptance letter yesterday. I haven't received any sort of confirmation like that. How many days did it take before you guys received a confirmation?

I actually called the office and spoke with someone. She told me to directly email her with my form and within minutes she emailed me the confirmation. I am not at home so I don't recall who I emailed but I suggest calling them

I emailed my form a few weeks ago and recently got an email saying that my seat in 2019 class was confirmed.

I think as long as you paid your 2000 dollars through the portal and you have a receipt of the payment you are fine. Btw, does anyone know how much the second deposit is?

Hey guys, I was wondering what do you guys think my chances are for the 2015/2016 cycle.

I am from Canada

cGPA (3.26), sGPA (3.4) - last 60 credits are above 3.8

MCAT (32) (12 BS/ 10VR/ 10PS)

Thanks for all the advice

Good chance but make sure you apply on the very first day and to multiple schools to broaden your chances. Also, if you don't mind the location, I believe Middletown campus is more lenient on academic stats as it's quite new.

MCAT is pretty solid. You'll be fine as long as you get your EC's and LoR's which are easy to do.

Apply broadley, work on your PS early on so you can get it super polished, then kill some interviews. Provided you're not insane or a psycho or anything, I'm sure you'll be get in somewhere, heck maybe even TouroNY.

Im working on shadowing a DO even though there are so little of them in Vancouver. I do have other volunteer works but really wanna get the clinical experience.

Thanks a lot for your input!

Can anyone clear up questions about an average week of classes?

Monday: test day. How many tests can you have in one day?
Tuesday: clicker sessions. How many sessions do you have in one day? If you have an exam on Monday in a particular class, will you have a clicker quiz on new material for that same class the following day?
Wednesday-Friday: labs. Can someone remind me how this works?

Also, during the first 2 years, are classes canceled for holidays? Ex: president's day, the Jewish holidays in October that the admissions office was closed for

For anyone who was rejected, all of their admissions info is sealed, so they won't give you a reason why you were rejected, unlike some other schools.

Does anyone have a list of elective rotations, or are we on our own finding these? Also, Touro emphasizes primary care, but how does this manifest itself on clinical rotations? Like are the primary care rotations longer and are there more of them than at other schools. I'm not really sure about primary care; am I going to be behind the 8-ball here if I hope to specialize in say EM or GS?

I'm also very interested in specializing in EM or GS and while I'm waiting to hear back from a MD school, I believe that if I do end up at TouroCOM I will be able to match into one of those residencies. TouroCOM does emphasize primary care like all other DO schools but if you come in on day one saying you want to match into those residencies, put in the hard work, meet the right mentor, crush your audition rotations, you will match into EM or GS.

So personally I don't think I will be "behind the 8-ball" if I end up at TouroCOM, and I believe you won't be either if you come in with that mentality.

Can a current student speak on the anatomy lab and how your experience has been so far? Number of students per cadaver and how is the anatomy lab facilities itself?

Also, on another note. Concerning the curriculum, how has the flipped curriculum been for you? Thanks.

I'd also like to know this as well

So, I'm a little confused about the application and thought I'd ask here since the admissions office is currently closed.

Question: On the ApplyYourself online system part of the application, the final PDF of my application shows a Heath Science & Professional section that is blank and doesn't seem to be available for me to fill out. Did everyone else submit that blank as well?

The online application is not the actual secondary and is probably just there for reference. Don't have to put in any information. The actual secondary is the essay you will directly enter into a pdf file they sent you through email. You will also select your preferred campus on that pdf file.

EDIT: still do complete the online application though, just don't need to worry about it since I doubt the admissions look at anything on there.

No, they Health Science and Professional section would pop up if you were applying to the Touros out west. All the Touros use the same template, but Touro-NY chooses not to use that section.

Am I supposed to get an email after being complete?

PM me, I am also from Vancouver and an accepted student.

For those who are accepted and paid their deposit, does anyone know if the information they say we get in January outlines the policies on grades and stuff for outstanding coursework?

Here's what my deposit email confirmation said:

"In January you will begin to receive the first of your enrollment documentation. If you have any questions about what to look forward to over the next several months feel free to contact the Office of Admissions (see contact information below). "

I'm assuming that comes with the second deposit. All I have are the health screening stuff like immunization, meningococcal waiver, etc. you need to get signed off by your primary care physician

But the second deposit is May 15? I kinda want to know what grades I have to maintain lol 😛

I think you have decent chances of getting in. I am from Canada with international status in Canada. I got accepted. So I think there is no harm in applying. Good luck

This thread will obviously be biased, but why do you think I should attend Touro-Harlem over KCUMB? I'm really wrestling with this decision, and a lot of people seem to tell me KCUMB, but I'm from Connecticut, would love to live in NYC, and don't know how well I'd do with midwest culture.

Hi guys,

Recently got an email stating my application was complete. How late do interviews usually go? Do I have decent shot with cGPA 3.74 and MCAT 29?

Just got an email saying I was incomplete and have to submit the pdf portion of the application (eg. essay). Don't think I got this when I filled out the online secondary months ago. Did I miss something?

For the secondary, you should have received two separate emails. One of them linking to the online application to fill out for all Touros. The second one was a pdf specifically to Touro NY, and it contained an essay portion. When I got the e-mails, they were not back to back, and in fact, one came around ~3-4 hours after the first one. The second e-mail with the pdf essay also contained information about to fill out the online application. Hope that helps!

I need some advice. I received the secondary but have not yet applied. I'm unsure of this school and don't know if I want to take the time or spend the money to apply if I don't have a good shot, GPA 3.8, MCAT 26. Is this school worth me giving it a shot?

Ahh found it thanks. Wow totally hurt my chances by missing that.

you wont get in if you dont apply.

I have a question regarding the secondary. On the PDF, the essay prompt is titled "Personal Statement," and the questions that the application gives you to address are already answered in my personal statement included with my AACOMAS application. Is this supposed to be a different essay? Did other people write a new 5 paragraph essay for this or just copy and paste their personal statement from AACOMAS?

It's a different essay. They wouldn't ask you to write it again if they already have it in the primary application. You can try elaborating on and reiterating what you wrote for your personal statement.

When do people plan moving into the city if you're attending Harlem and not already living in the area?

I was actually planning on trying to find an apartment in late May to early June. Hopefully when I sign the lease, I was going to move there in June and get to familiarize myself with the area.

I was thinking of starting to look sometime early June for move in in beginning of July..though I hear renting in Manhattan is like a quick process - once you find a place, secure it, you should move in soon after that. Is that true?

Either way if classes begin the end of July I'd like at least 2 weeks to explore in the city w/ my husband before classes begin!

Highly agree about exploring the city. I want to get there early enough to explore the city and make sure my wife has enough time to find a job.

II this afternoon! So happy. Couldn't be happier! Still hope, guys.

II just now! The dates available were at the end of January through the first week of February! I was complete on November 11th.

Gave up my spot here - hope it goes to one of you!

For those asking about renting in Manhattan: it's cutthroat. Make sure you have your application package with you when you view apartments (photocopy of driver's license, bank statements, proof of income (offer letter for school/job), potential references, etc.) because they can go fast. Most people start looking 2-4 weeks before they move in; a month or two beforehand is a little far for NYC. Craigslist or pad mapper are good resources, as well as no-fee broker websites (but many times those guys just show you listings you can find on your own). If all else fails you might have to go through a fee broker, which'll take anywhere from one month's rent to 15% of the annual rent as their broker's fee. Happy hunting!

I'm canadian, any input on what I can do for rent? The last time I tried to lease an apartment in USA, 99% of places outright refused due to lack of credit history. The remaining options were either in the ghetto or extremely over-priced!

Can someone explain why the Facebook group is called "NYC DO c/o 2019?" It really makes no sense to me. How would anyone ever be able to find it unless they've seen this thread? Bizarre.

Your class is based on the year you are expected to graduate...which would be 2019 if admitted in 2015.

Of course; that's not the issue. The issue is that I am attending Touro COM- New York and not "NYC DO." How could anyone ever find the group when the school's name isn't even in the group's name?
