I specifically chose Middletown for a number of reasons and have been reaffirmed by my experience so far. There is not much to the town, but I wanted as few distractions as possible and the rent is less expensive. However, the surrounding area is beautiful when you have time to explore. I actually like the flipped curriculum because I am able to watch the recorded lectures as many times as I want or not at all, depending on how comfortable I am with the material, while questions can always be asked of the professors at the weekly discussion sessions. In addition, all most my interaction with faculty members has been positive and they are usually available if you want to stop by their office to discuss an unfamiliar topic. You can look this up for yourself, but the match list is decent and they have connections throughout New York, New Jersey, and elsewhere for rotations. As someone who thinks he wants to go into primary care, I like the opportunities available in Orange County including a few hospitals that are exclusive to TouroCOM. In addition to their Family and internal medicine spots, ORMC just opened 16 new ED residency positions, with more specialties to come. Most of these will likely be filled by some of the Touro student currently on rotations there.
Of course there is some disorganization with the first year of operation in Middletown, but you guys will have us to learn from when you start next year. Let me know if you have any more specific questions.
