I was able to snag a cheap ticket from Omaha for $260! For hotel, I think I'm going to try to stay in one of the nearby B&B, they're about 100 a night and don't have shuttle service, so it'll be an expensive taxi ride 🙁 The 'hotels' are far away and expensive!!!!

I was under the impression they wanted one essay, it's just that they worded the question kind of awkwardly.
I ended up writing one essay that included the latter multiple questions to answer the first part.

I just got an email today saying they have received my supplemental and they would notify me for interview once it is confirmed as complete🙂
I kinda want to know the basic time frame for me. I got this email today which is 09/13, and I was just wondering when they will notify me for interview and when my interview would actually be. I saw most of you guys are having it in October. But since i just received the supplemental email, might it be in November???

You're right, I probably will. I arrive there at 10PM the night before and I don't want to deal with getting lost in the subway system 🙁
Well, I e-mailed my supplemental application off on 8/26, received receipt confirmation on 9/03, and got interview dates today, 9/15 for November 2nd, 3rd, 9th, or 10th.

Congratulations! I sent an e-mail already requesting Nov. 2nd. Everyone I spoke to (cousins and friends) said to choose the earliest date. So Nov. 2nd it is, unless it's already filled up. Hopefully I'll have confirmation tomorrow or the day after.
I sent my in july but I got an email saying they were waiting on my mcat to see if they want to send me a secondary. My mcat was released aug 30 and still no love from Touro-NY. Should I be worried? This is one of my top 2 schools. If they decide not to send me a secondary will I still get an email telling me I've been declined. I hope so, I need closure!

if your mcat is a 24 or higher you should be fine.

My interview was confirmed to be on November 10th......anyone is going that day???
I ended up with a Nov. 10th confirmation as well. Apparently, all the other dates were filled. Had to play e-mail tag for a whole day with Mr. Sow. lol

I may be wrong, but I thought that the first class does not graduate until 2011.
Guys, will I still have a chance with a 21N MCAT w/ a 3.57 cgpa and 3.48 sgpa? I'm live in TX but I'm from NY and I'm really bummed about the minimum mcat being 23. Will my GPA somewhat let them consider me? 🙁
your right my mistake. Just trying to determine how competitive this school will be in terms of securing good residences.

where are you guys gonna stay?
I'm staying at the comfort inn times square. It was 255 with taxes. That ws the cheapest hotel that I could find and that my parents were okay with.

I stayed at the West Side Inn with my bf when he came to NYC last summer for his bar exam. It has terrible reviews, but we tried it since it was only 45 dollars a night for a private room and were pleasantly surprised. The bathroom is shared and they have no AC, but that didn't really matter to us since it was insanely cheap for being in Manhattan. It's about a 20 minute subway ride from Touro-COM. I live in Manhattan now so obviously I'll be staying in my apartment, but I just wanted to offer up my sofa/aerobed to anyone who might be on a tight budget! I live in midtown east, so it's a super safe area and I'm about a 30 minute subway ride from Touro.

Don't want to bring more bad news, but I think the MCAT minimum is 24. That GPA is pretty nice though, so don't lose hope. You never know.

Accommodations: I would suggest google mapping around TUCOM-NY for hostels and bed and breakfasts. I was able to negotiate a one night rate with a private bathroom for $150..oh did I mention the place is 0.3 miles from TUCOM-NY? Probably the biggest plus.
I'm also coming up that date! See you soon! You might be able to recognize me, I'll be the one wearing a suite and tie lol!!!

How long did it take for you to get some kind of confirmation that they received your secondary?

It took them about a week to confirm my Secondary. Haven't heard anything about an interview yet.
Did anyone else receive two e-mails confirming receipt of their Secondaries?
My mcat scores were in on sept 14 and still no secondary. I had them sent to aacomas immediately. I haven't had my letters of rec sent out yet. Any idea on what the hold up is? Is this wait normal or is this a pre secondary rejection?

It took them over a month to send me the Secondary after my AACOMAS app was confirmed...and I had my MCAT scores ready at the start...if that gives you any idea.
I interviewed today and there was someone in the group that was talking about Vit D research. Anywho, I think I said something along the lines of 'Vit D does a lot of things' but didn't elaborate. I shadowed a DO that really stressed heavily on the topic so here's a link from my DO's site if you want to see it

The day was really laid back and not stressful. The interviewers really just want to know about who you are and everything that led you to medicine. Don't stress out too much about it, but do be prepared to answer questions about why osteopathic med and not allopathic and your views on OMM, how you think the DO philosophy plays a role in the future of medicine.
