When I interviewed on the 30th of October, there was this guy from Chicago who owned his own cafe. If he is on SDN, can you send me a message so I can get in touch with you.

Can someone confirm how much time after acceptance one has to submit the deposit?

It says it on the acceptance letter...2 weeks from the date of the letter...so really like they want the money a week and a half from the day you receive the letter...which means you need to send out your deposit about one week after you receive it in order for it to reach them on time.

Congratulations to everyone! I probably met alot of you when you interviewed and look forward to having those of you who choose to attend our beloved TouroCOM next year as classmates. IF you are on high waitlist there is still a good chance you will get moved into accepted. I don't want to pretend its a sure thing but I would definitely keep in touch with them.
For those accepted and attending...relax! The hard part is over for now and just do absolutely nothing this summer. Veg out as hard as possible.
If I can help you with anything in the mean time feel free to PM me or post.

:hardy:

You should be fine 🙂 I mailed mine in last week, was complete this week, and got the interview invite a couple of days later. They're very quick!

I am going to answer my own question. I emailed Obed and he said that the clinical rotation sites are North General, Flushing Hospital, Bronx Lebanon, Staten Island Hospital, and Harlem Hospital (with shadowing opportunities here). He also said that the list is still growing and that there should be more.

Also, Bronx Lebanon has students from Albert Einstien doing rotations and Harlem Hospital has Columbia students and I think Harlem is a level 1 trauma center.👍

I got in!!! 😀

As of yesterday I still never received any letter... so I called Obed, and he told me it was mailed back on Nov 7th! Who knows where that one is, but he overnight-shipped me a new one via FedEx and I just got it this morning 👍.

It's official! I'm going to be in the Tourocom class of 2012!!!

No, Touro interviews on Tuesdays and Wednesday, so hypothetically be possible to interview on a Wednesday and then NYCOM on Thursday.

Call the admissions office, they worked with me last year to schedule an interview date while I was available.

Good luck!

Thank you!!! That may work too. I just wasn't super excited about trying to get an overnight flight where I have to change planes and then be ready to go to the interview at 9am.
Seriously thx 🙂

Congrats to all who got in so far, If you are on the waitlist, keep your head up and hope for the best. I am a current student and would be glad to answer any questions that you might have, I remember the whole nail biting experience from last year! Good Luck!

anyone else interviewing on the 28th??

ooo i am, i can't wait! too bad i'll be ridiculously busy because it's right before my finals week, but at least i only have to travel a couple of stops away on the train! 🙄

Hi Mama3. Just wanted to say Hi. Cant believe its been 9 months since that snowy, windy, freezing interview on Valentines day. Hope med school is treating you (and your family) well.

Cheers.

(Ok, back to the regularly sceduled program)

where do the touro NY students usually live? is the upper west side fairly acessible to the school? what about Soho or midtown??

I can't tell you where students usually live, but the UWS would definitely be pretty accessible. The school is roughly a block from the A, B, C, D, 2 and 3 trains, and a few blocks from the 1 train, all of which run up and down the west side. Soho would take a little longer, but the express trains will take only about 15min or less, literally, to midtown. I hope that's sort of helpful!

I live in the UWS...Three stops from the school on the 2/3 line. Its great! If I get to the subway as a train is coming, it takes 15 minutes door to door. I have some friends who live in Harlem too and they love it. And being blocks from the school is helpful for them since so many of us study at the school on the weekends. Try to live along the 2/3 line and you'll do fine. Its generally a nightmare to try to get to the west side from the east side, so do yourself a favor and don't live there.

i was actually visiting a friend who lives on 116th yesterday and passed the school. You could take the 4,5,6 from soho. But the 4,5 is usually express and misses the stops. So i took the local 6

Has anybody heard anything recently? I interviewed two weeks ago and haven't heard! I think I might be going crazy...

anyone interviewing december 5th?

I live in Hudson Heights (west 180s). It takes me about 15 min to get to school on the A train. The school is fairly accessible from anywhere in Manhattan, they key is to live close to an express station. Most students either live in the UWS or South Harlem, but both places are generally expensive. Based on general observation the students who live near school tend to be performing better, so it may behoove you to live as close as financially possible.

I interviewed two weeks ago as well. Still haven't heard anything. I can't wait.

I've confirmed my application and recommendations complete with Noelle and received a slightly more formal email yesterday from Issa Sow saying my application was received. Both said an interview invitation should follow...I'm pretty anxious to get it scheduled!

any news anyone? this thread seems to have been a bit quiet lately...

i'm interviewing the 19th of Dec. They orginally had me scheduled for dec 4th which was the same date that i'm doing my Touro NV interview and plan on a few more interviews out west during that time. So Dec 19th it is.

I just received my secondary (and sent it back to TOUROCOM) today... how long after you mailed your secondary did it take to hear about getting an interview? Thanks! 🙂

I sent in my secondary Nov. 20th and received the invite Nov. 28th.
