Tufts c/o 2020 Applicants!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Did anyone else get an update from Tufts that they were missing a letter of recommendation? One of my academics did not count because she was my research PI and did not comment on me academically. I have already asked an advisor and a current professor who declined, so I'm at a loss. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

So they just emailed me about the same thing...

Does anyone know what the pool of applicants selected for first interviews is like? Is it mainly in state or does anything go?

I was told it's completely randomized. I think their highest rank students will be sent interview offers first.

I believe, in about a week, Tufts will be sending their first wave of interview offers....exciting!

😱 That's exciting! How'd you find that out?

Also, does anyone know anything about how Tufts deals with rescheduling interviews?? I mean, this might not happen, but I'm going to be in California at a marine mammal conference (I have a poster there.. so I have to be there) until Dec 20th, and Tufts said their first interview date was Dec 18th. I might not even get invited to interview then, but just in case it does happen, should I email them?

I looked at the threads from the past two years!

If it does happen, I'm sure they'll be happy to wait to interview you in the spring. Tufts admissions is like the nicest in the world.

Does Tufts send interviews to OOS first and then IS? Or vice-versa? Or is it completely randomized?

In the past, highly competitive applicants received interview invites first whether OOS or instate. However, this year the number of applicants has gone up substantially because of VMCAS and they may change their system of sending interview invites.

I'm super excited and nervous for the upcoming weeks when they send out interview invites. I really hope I can make the first cut of at least getting an interview invite. Best of luck everyone! Hopefully we can all be future classmates at Tufts! 🙂

Thank you! Yes I agree! If I receive an interview and am accepted there is no second thinking..... I will accept my offer the same day!!

I hope I don't have another dream tonight where I am sitting in a seat interviewing at tufts:meh:.. had one last night.... I am officially crazy.🙄😳

I spoke with someone in the admissions office today and they confirmed that the first interview date will include both IS and OOS applicants. She also said that the first wave of interview invites should be going out before Thanksgiving!

Will all interview days consist of IS and OOS?

So.... like tomorrow?? ahhhhh. I was not expecting anything so soon (honestly still not expecting anything haha).

I think I've checked mine every 15 minutes since 7 am.
Sounds alot like me.... except everytime I go to refresh my email it tells me I had just done so 3-5 minutes ago. 🙄 I wish schools had a set date on when they'd send out interviews. I think it'd provide us with some sanity😕

When I went to see Ford he told me I probably wouldn't be in this round of interviews because it was for OOS only, but now that someone posted that they will be interviewing IS as well I am going crazy.

My heart dropped to the my toes..... but thank you for the info! I am IS and am going crazy as well!

I don't know what to think...I'd heard that for past years the first date was OOS only, which is why I called to confirm...the woman I spoke to told me that there was no rhyme or reason to how the dates were assigned. But if Ford confirmed that the first date was for OOS, maybe that's right? How long ago did he tell you that?

I saw him in September. hopefully maybe possibly it could have changed?

Here you are everyone, it's very fast-acting:

Don't worry if you don't get an early interview, I was oos and didn't receive an interview invitation until January last year 🙂

I didn't get one.... I'm calling tomorrow in the afternoon if I don't hear anything

Awesome, thanks for letting us know! Did they clarify whether IS are being included too?

She also said if we do not receive an invite today to NOT PANIC because they have lots of interview days to come! She said Interview offers for the rest of the interview days will all go out after January 1st!

Do you know if it's completely randomized regarding ranking and/or date of app submission as well?

That I do not know. You can call admissions and ask! The lady I spoke to was SUPER nice. Like People at tufts are ridiculously nice..... but i do like ridiculous-ness...🙄😊

Their contact: 508- 839-7920

I would be surprised if it was THAT random esp. since in the past they've alerted people within a couple weeks of acceptance. And it wouldn't make sense to accept someone with a lower ranking before interviewing the higher ranking applicants. My guess is it would be all about ranking, not submission.

I'm curious about this as well. Looking through previous years' threads, the posters who got early interview invites mostly had GPAs over 3.8 and strong GRE scores (mid 160s). But it sounds like they've changed up their process this year, so who knows if that will hold for this year too.

Damn okay silly me thinking my stats might be strong enough haha...

It's a really small sample set though, only 3 or so SDN members posted about an early interview invite each year. And some didn't have stalkable post histories where I could find their stats😛. They got 400ish more applications this year than last, too, so they likely can't interview all their 3.8+'s in the first round. Completely possible they're going with a different strategy this year.
