Tufts Cummings c/o 2015 applicants!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know when the online decision will show on the Tufts tracker page? Will this happen a while after they have sent out the decision letters..? Thanks

I'm Philly too and I didn't get a letter yet either. Last yr they sent out interview invites and rejection letters right around the same time. Although I don't expect an interview invite this yr either, it should be noted that my street was never plowed and now there is a really thick layer of snow and ice on it. Oh yeah, and the fact that I almost killed myself on the sidewalk this morning probably explains the lack of mail for the past 4 days!! With the snowstorm coming tomorrow night, I don't really expect mail delivery any time soon.
I love snow, I think its really pretty, but its so disruptive!

I am 20 minutes north of the city. This is reassuring to hear that I am not the only Philly applicant that has not received anything yet😛 Good luck!:xf:

For acceptances? Last year they updated them all at once, at a designated time, for everyone who interviewed in Feb. I believe it was early March.
No idea about the early interviewees. You can always call admissions though. They're super nice.

Congrats everyone who got an interview and I am keeping my fingers crossed for the rest of you!!:xf:

Anyway, I have been a viewer for sometime, but decided to post and join in...yay!

I have an interview of 2/8 and I am SO EXCITED!! Totally was not expecting it...on that note, for all of you OOS'ers, are you planning on staying in Boston the night before and then taking the commuter rail to Tufts in the morning or finding a hotel the night before in North Grafton? Is renting a car a completely crazy idea? Eek I am so excited I am not thinking clearly ...

Any suggestions/tips?

I just got an email from Tufts saying I got an interview!!! 😀 But oddly the email doesn't tell me what day it is...I'll have to wait to get my letter at school. Did anyone else get an email? So excited!!!

Congratulations! If you or anyone else decides to stay in North Grafton, I could pick you up on the way since I live just an hour away so will be driving anyway. The only problem is I'm not sure which day is my interview, so if its the same day I'd be happy to drive you or anyone with the same interview date 🙂 I'll let you know!

Mes, they send emails as confirmation of your snail mail letter - so congrats! 😀 Technically you should have received the letter first, and it will have the date in it. The email simply confirms and gives you more details about the interview day schedule of events. My email came today - you can also email them and request they email you your official letter.

@Axel: I am fortunate enough to have family about an hour away that I can stay with. Renting a car is not a bad idea, if you can swing it, as it's more reliable than public transport. You might also contact admissions to see if they have suggestions on places to stay!

I've said it before, and just to reiterate: Tufts' admissions office is staffed with the nicest people you will ever meet. If you have questions, concerns, anything, call them! They will be delighted to hear from you. Just be nice back, and they will help you out.

No email here....and I know I can't blame that on the unpredictable U.S. postal service.....booo

I know how you feel. no letter and no email here as well. I called today though to see what the status of letters and what not, and they said that letters will be going out every day this week up until friday. So don't lose hope just yet. :xf:

Did they say anything about emails? I'm just wondering if those are coming in waves as well....

This is what my interview invite e-mail said:

Greetings from the Admissions Office,
Congratulations on being selected for an interview at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.

Your interview invitation was mailed to your mailing address, so if you are currently away from that address, please contact us and we will email you a copy of your letter.

Attached is the schedule of events for your interview day. We have a full day of activities and hope you take advantage of all that is offered. Please note that lunch will be provided.
Travel and accommodation information will be emailed to you either later this week or early next week. If you have any immediate needs or questions, please contact us.

We look forward to meeting you!

I got the email as well, It just provides a link to the schedule of the day. I also called up and talked to Patty about rescheduling my interview and she said it will not be a problem. I just have to wait until next week to see what date I get for my new interview time. She is the best! I had a lot of communication with her last year over the masters program that Tufts has, and she is the most down to earth, gracious woman ever in an admissions office!

oh, and I am also just outside of Philly, in south jersey, and I got my letter on saturday in the mail. Keep checking your emails for the follow up letter and keep hoping!! Good Luck everyone with their interviews and with the waiting game!!

Does anyone else's fall transcript still show up as "missing"? I sent mine ages ago. I didn't mention it when we were clearing up something else that was missing (computer error) because I didn't want to be obnoxious and figured it just hadn't been processed yet... but now I'm worried.

(I went to a different school for one of my classes last semester b/c of a scheduling conflict... and that transcript is the one that's missing. I thought that the fall stuff was just supposed to be mailed in ASAP, and that it wasn't a huge deal... but because of the way this is written up, I'm afraid it might be seen as "👎" worthy.)

Right now, I am crying my eyes out. I just got an email about an interview (but I never received an interview letter). So, here's hoping that it's not a mistake! (I'll undoubtedly cry again...)

To everyone still waiting: I really hope you hear news asap! I've been stressing out since Saturday, and then Sunday I realized I didn't have my home address listed(put my school address down who are supposed to fwd my mail who probably failed seeing as I never received a letter), and then I've received no mail since (when I was out shadowing a LA vet today, my sister texted me to let me know I had again received no mail). Hang in there, darlings! Don't give up hope!!!

Mes: depending on where I stay, I may want a ride if we're interviewing the same day 😉!!

In case anyone's wondering: I'm a Penn res - I live in NEPA though & my school's an hour north of me.

Thanks for the response guys! I am waiting to hear back from a friend that lives in the area to see if I can crash....although I doubt I will be doing much sleeping

When the tracking page first came out, one of my transcripts also showed up as "missing" even though I'd call to confirm the receipt of it a few weeks prior. Somehow, it had been filed in a different location, and the admissions staff (I think it was Patty? It was a month ago so I'm not sure), put me on hold and found it within a few minutes. She even changed the online status while I was on the phone! 😀

I think the best idea is to give them a call, see if it was a computer error or if it fell behind the radiator, and determine if they need another copy. I know it's a little late in the cycle, but it certainly won't hurt to try. If you have an unofficial copy, they might allow you to fax or scan/email it over while the official one in en route. Good luck!!

I hate to sound clueless, but where is the tracking page everyone is talking about? Did I not receive an email or something? Or am I completely overlooking it?

Mine's still missing, but then, my school doesn't even prepare transcripts with fall grades until January 10. So I hope you (and I) aren't getting some kind of "points off for being late" on this. 🙂

I hate bugging her, but I did send an e-mail off today, if for no other reason than to make sure whoever's going over things is aware that it's a fall transcript and should be arriving now-ish.. The professor was days late in submitting grades (can't complain, as she gave me a solid "A" I didn't really feel I totally deserved 😉), and I sent it out as soon as it was made available. It should have arrived days ago, but even if it has, that doesn't necessarily mean it's been processed, I guess.

:xf:!

More communication is probably better than less, especially when the situation could lead to misunderstanding!

(I shouldn't complain about my transcripts... Tufts claims they have one from UCBerkeley for me, and I haven't actually completed my course over there yet!!)

Wait- is there a separate part on your portal thing that has a spot for the fall transcript? I only have the space for the received ones, which have been there since they sent out the information. Unfortunately, there's no date marked for it so I don't know if it's the updated transcript, so am I missing something? So confused.

Also, has anyone heard of anyone getting anything else in the mail besides interviews?

Nope... I took Biochem at another local university last fall because there was a course conflict and I wanted to graduate in December. There's a separate slot for that transcript (because it's a different school), and the portal says it's missing.

There's no issue with the school I graduated from, even though I suspect they haven't received the fall grades from them yet, either. I mailed them a couple of days later.

Oooh okay, I was about to start making lots of phone calls!

I hope this isn't in bad taste, because I don't want to make people who haven't heard anything feel worse (I was avoiding checking SDN before I got my letter b/c I knew seeing other people post interview invites would just make me more anxious), but I just wanted to say that: OMG I'm so psyched I got an interview!

I initially wasn't planning on applying this year, but after visiting Tufts at their open house, I decided to throw my hat into the ring at the last second and applied to only Tufts this year because I'm so in love with the school. I know it's not an acceptance, but I feel like just getting an interview means that I'm at least most of the way there, in terms of being a competitive vet school applicant.

It's not bad taste at all! We're all hoping for the same thing -- I'm still waiting on any word from Tufts and I honestly get excited when I hear people have received an interview. I don't know why but I do -- sure I'm not alone. Congrats!

Well, I just withdrew my application from Tufts. I had waited for a couple of days since getting my interview invite to confirm all my vet school plans, so I hope its not too late for someone else to interview in my place. Crossing my fingers for you guys! :xf::xf::xf:

I get excited when I hear people get interviews/accepted too! I know I will get in someday somewhere and it is always exciting to hear others get good news🙂

Just thought I would let everyone know....

I just talked to admissions about my "missing" transcript, and it is really not missing. They just have a TON of transcripts that they still need to update in the system, but I was assured that the admissions committee is aware of my fall grades. They received my fall transcript back in December, so I'm sure that is also true for many of you!

Also, the lady I talked to said that there is ONE more stack of envelopes that is set to go out tomorrow, and then that's it. Good luck everyone, there's still hope! :xf::luck:

So I got a letter from Tufts today saying I am interview-wait-listed. Now for more waiting...Does anyone know how often people get bumped up to the interview pool from the wait-list? I am even more nervous now, but at least is is not an outright rejection!! 🙂

I just saw that PendantWorld withdrew their application (Thanks by the way 🙂) so their is at least one more spot:xf:

I'm curious about your reasons for withdrawing. You said "vet school plans" -- does that mean you've been accepted at, and are planning to attend, somewhere else? If so, congratulations!! 👍

Tufts is my dream school due to their wildlife/conservation medicine program. How many of you that have got interviews so far OOS? I'm from Arkansas and don't know how good of chances I have applying there.

Pendantworld got into CORNELL!!! 😍 congratulations!!

Hey everyone!

I am trying to plan my flights to Boston and I was hoping you all could help me! Do you know if it is common practice for the interviewees to stay the night of their interview? My interview is Tuesday Feb 8 and I am wondering if I should plan on flying out the same day or hanging out until Wednesday morning? Like is there a happy hour or group dinner or something fun?

I am so excited to meet everyone 🙂

Congrats to those already accepted and I am keeping my fingers crossed for those still waiting!:luck:

So those are the last interview invites? Do you know if they are sending out wait-list and/or rejection notices in that batch too? Looks like happydance got a wait list notice so maybe those are all going out now too.

I called about my fall transcripts and asked about the letters going out too. She told me that everything would be out with the batch today. That includes all 3 types of letters (interview, interview waitlist, rejection).

She had my file open in front of her I was so tempted to be like so...could you just tell me what letter I'm getting?!?!? But I refrained since she didn't offer the info 😳

She wouldn't have told you anyway. I called on Tuesday to see if she would tell my status but she said she's not aloud to...

I'm staying the night before, but not the night after, my interview. (Have to be back for classes/work.) Since I'm crossing the whole continent, I'd love to stay the extra night if I could!

Anyone else? What is everyone doing with travel plans?

I'm on the 7th. Anyone here I can say hi to on that day?????? 🙂

Any clarification as to whether or not all three letters were still being mailed? I know there's never really any sense in attempting to crack the adcom code, but it seems like everyone who initially heard something was interviewed... now we've got a waitlist... and it kind of makes sense to me that the rejections would go out last, once they have an idea of how many people are accepting interviews...

I'm on the 7th! I'd love to chat with some other SDN'rs while I'm there.

I will be staying nearby the night before and the night after. Luckily I've got family about an hour away, who let me stay in their house and borrow their car (yay!) Last year my interview was right before snowpocalypse, part 2, and everyone was scrambling to change their flights to get out that afternoon. I managed to get the earliest flight the next morning and still made it out ok! So just be aware that weather is an issue this time of year, and be prepared to maybe have to adjust your plans. The admissions office is generally very understanding of this.

Axel, as far as I know there is no evening activities, like UPenn's happy hour, but I'm sure there'll be people around afterwards. Many people fly out the same night, though, and the interview day doesn't go too late.

Good point about Snowpocalypse. I got stuck in Boston four extra days this past Christmas. 🙂

As for the interview, I just got the OK to stay overnight! Anyone want to sit near each other at lunch, or go out for dinner, or something?

On the same note...any 2/8 wanna meet-up either in the morning or in between sessions?

Thanks for all the responses! Maybe I will try to leave the night of the interview as well (have to get back to work 👎)

Sure! My interview is at 11:30, so I kind of feel like I may not have much free time in the morning, but it seems like the afternoon sessions are just repeats of the campus tour and the "financing your education" session, so probably one of those would be easy to skip...

First reject of the year checking in... deeee-nied! Skinny Envelope of Doom just materialized. Letter was short but sweet.

I'm OOS, adjoining state.

Best of luck to everyone else still in the running! 👍

OOoooo good luck! Mine is at 2pm 🙂. Are you attending the faculty panel at 9am? Maybe a bunch of us could meet beforehand...say hi and get the butterflies out? (my butterflies have started since I received the invite..)

Sorry Cautionary Tail...Tufts loss ...
