interview finished. I kept it together during the interview, but started shaking after and tore apart a paper cup without even realizing what I was doing.

I'm pretty sure that tomorrow is the final day of interviews. Then the good folks up north go find a table to scatter out our headshots on and try to determine our potential fate for the next 4 years of our lives. The voodoo that they do... we're almost there, kids.
 
I got thrown off a horse the afternoon that the committee was making decisions last year. I was pretty sure that it was NOT a good sign! Apparently, they had nothing to do with the dumping! 🙂

I keep fantasizing that someone from admissions contacts me early, citing that they don't usually do this but are worried that an applicant of my superb caliber might get restless and consider choosing another school to attend. In the dream, my phone is made of pink coral and I live underwater in a den of mermaids. No horses, though. For what it's worth...

I think it went well? You never know. Maybe they thought I was a complete ***** but were really nice and polite about it. We'll find out in 2 weeks!

Did anyone else notice that the email said we would be notified starting March 26th and the website said March 21st? That's like a full five days I could be freaking out during...why would they do that??

hmm....this could actually be kind of fun and I have a SUPER easy week ahead to be able to mod.....I don't think we have enough people to make it worthwhile, though....LOL.....I think ANY2003 (or whaever) might have another heart attack at us talking off topic. Watch out! 😉

Oh! Wanted to share- I'm a pretty talkative person, so as I was yappin near the end of my interview, my voice completely went. One of the interviewers had to get me a cup of water so I could "continue on"

Definitely wasnt caused by nerves. But funny all the same.
 
Do any of the current UC Davis student know how the interview is factored into admissions? Is it scored and then added to a score given for the rest of the application?
 
as far as i know, they say it's worth 20%, but honestly, it doesn't really seem to be a strict ranking scheme. the admissions committee members meet and discuss the interviewed applicants, and recommend a class for admission. i'm not really sure it's by numerical ranking or anything at that point.

Oh to be a fly on the wall... they should film these meetings and sell them as academic snuff porn. I would pay a pretty penny to witness that reality show. :laugh:

Today is the last day of interviews, no? The show must go on!!

We're always gonna be our harshest critics. You have to keep in mind, though, that the admissions committee has already combed through your application and is confident that you have the ability to do well in their program. You made a huge cut just to get the interview. The rest is pretty much a crapshoot. Stay positive, my friend!! :woot:
 
One more excruciating week. Fingers are locked in crossed position.
 
Yesterday was my due date to have everything in for the welcome website so I'm done with my liaison role until matching everybody their big sibs in the summer.

I talked to Kim about the discrepancy between dates and she basically said that their original goal was the 21st but due to some scheduling things, they moved it to the 26th just to make sure they could get everything out on time. Didn't want people stressing if the 21st passed and no one heard!

Also, you guys will hate me for telling you this now...BUT my understanding was that the committee met yesterday to decide the class. It is not the last step in the process since it still has to go to the dean of admissions and then the dean of the school to ok them.... SOON, guys, SOON!!!

I think that's been a distinct possibility all along. Usually schools over-estimate their notification date just to be safe (wouldn't want the date to pass - rioting could ensue).
 
In previous years, people have heard before hand. My year, we heard the exact day they told us we would (March 21st and later)

I've been imagining the entire scene, date, and time of that e-mail arriving. Now that pesky e-mail is going to sneak up on me. It's either going to be a really good or really bad surprise....

The day I got my email, I woke up sorta late for me and opened my laptop, was sorta still half asleep and checked my email, had nothing, then went to get dressed to go to campus and sat back down, checked email again and it was there and then I checked SDN and nobody else had gotten one and I was like omg should I post nobody else has posted yet maybe it's an accident. :scared:

Wasn't REALLY expecting to get an email before anyone else posted about it here so it did really sneak up on me that way...
 
I think I am NOT going to work myself up into a lather while waiting. I want to know more than anything, but I have to concentrate on getting through this semester. The news will come early or not. The decisions are out of our hands at this point.
