Will you guys leave a message if we do not pick up? I am going to be catching a flight tomorrow.

Hi, what we are planning on doing is calling candidates that are being offered admission tomorrow. In the event that we cannot reach a candidate, we will not leave a message nor will we be able to provide information to anyone other than the candidate. We will call all of the contact numbers that we have for each candidate in order to reach them. On Monday - e-mails will go out through the portal with an electronic admissions offer or a wait list notification - so, in the event a candidate is not "reachable" tomorrow, they will receive information via the portal on Monday.

Do you know at around what time we should expect the call? Or is this something that spans throughout the entire day? Also, would you be able to tell us the number from which the calls will be made so if we do miss a call we would be able to identify the number and still find out if we got accepted because of the fact that we received a call?

Thanks for the information! Kind of wish I didn't see this though.. now I'm going to be staring at my phone the whole day tomorrow..:nailbiting:

Out of curiosity, why did you decide to change that?

We anticipate that calls will start at 2:30 PM pacific time

You're correct. They look at:
1) Science GPA
2) Last 45 quarter/30 semester unit GPA
3) Quantitative GRE score

I believe these 3 components are then converted into a single "score". If you're below the cutoff they have set for this score, you are removed from the applicant pool.

What I really like about this is that it gives those of us who didn't have a very high GPA in undergrad to redeem that GPA. I've been out of school for so long and am finishing up. I had a 3.2 overall 8 years ago but am thankful they really pay attention to last half of credit you do...Cause I'm doing great! They definitely focus on the academic performance to get through all the apps.

Wow that is a lot of phone calls the admission team is going to make today

Now the waiting game starts...

I'M ACCEPTED TOO!!

Got the call in the middle of class, ran out to take it, and came back in crying. So excited.
I cried too! :3 CONGRATS DUUUDE! We're gonna be vets!

Congrats!

Did they give any indication on the order of the calls, or how far down the list they were, or anything?

No indication. I assume alphabetical order? Not sure though. My last name starts with H.

My last name starts with an N, there was no indication of what order they were using. Good luck!

I got a call too! My last name starts with a W so I don't know if they are doing alphabetical order

Received the call of acceptance!! It's my top choice and I'm just freaking out!!! I wish everyone the best

Congrats to all!

I assumed it would be by interview day/time, since the scores determined acceptance. I'd also assume that calls are possible until 5 pm PST, especially since they have so many people to go through.

got a phone call - I think I screamed pretty loud... too excited. I am not sure if I scared the admission team. LOL.

Congrats everyone! Can't wait to see y'all this fall!

VetADMIN, can you please tell us if everyone has been called? Also, at what point (today?) will everyone know if we are in, waitlisted or rejected via the portal? Thank you very much.

WE anticipate that e-mails will go out to all interviewed applicants by the end of the day today by 5m PST - this e-mail will be for admit and wait list.

So for those that are outright "No's" will they be notified as well or should we assume if we do not get an email today at all, that we are in the rejected pile? Thank you for your time.

There are no outright "Nos." Candidates are either offered admission or placed on the wait list.

Are we allowed to call the admissions office to get feedback from them, so we can understand what they were looking for in the interview versus what we said?
Given the nature of the interviews and the fact that the admission's office staff (including the Director of Admissions) did not participate in administering the MMI interviews, there is very little that they will be able to tell you about your performance as they are not the folks that actually scored your interviews. While I understand that this can be frustrating, there are many resources available for MMI prep that would be beneficial in terms of prep for future interviews. I wish you all the best.

I just joined the ranks of the UC Davis class of 2019. As we aren't allowed to talk about the actual content of the scenarios from the UC Davis MMI, I would be happy to go over made up scenarios and compare notes on our answers for practice. Maybe help you redirect your thinking and figure out how to kill it next year. Let me know If you want help in a message. Good luck!

So.... I know it's a bit early. Have anyone started looking for the place to live yet? Going to town this weekend to check out.

Yes! I've started looking. I am coming down with my SO, 2 cats and a few rats 🙂. I've been trying to decide between living in Davis versus Dixon (mainly because Dixon is so much less expensive). I will probably start calling my top complex choices to get on a wait list and go down and visit to be sure.

Let us know if you see any really great complexes in town that would be worth the prices! Also, anyone who is currently living in Davis, do you have any opinions on complexes in Davis/Dixon?

I currently live in Davis! I know that a lot of grad/vet students live in West Davis, so you guys could check that out. South Davis (where I currently live) has mostly undergrads, but I do like living here because it's close to Safeway, downtown, etc. I hear from friends that North Davis is a bit quieter than South Davis-- there's lots of undergrads throwing parties here in South.

I'd like to stay in my current apartment but I'd need 4 people to sign my lease within the next two weeks...and that's not gonna happen!

I currently live in Woodland and personally I would choose Woodland over Dixon. I'm not sure about prices, but the drive to Woodland is much easier than to Dixon. I-80 can have some pretty bad traffic and can make your commute longer, but highway 113 to Woodland never has any traffic.

Which neighborhood would you recommend living in if you want to be closest to campus? I'd like to be able to bike to class some of time. Thanks!

West or North Davis are the closest to campus. But I know people who bike from all over Davis. Davis is very bike friendly!

Yeah, you can pretty much bike to campus from anywhere in davis, there's bike paths everywhere!

To be a total troll 😉 I live in Dixon and much prefer it over woodland. Currently in my 4th year and have yet to hit traffic on the way to or from school. Occasional traffic on the weekend but you just jump onto the frontage road and you're good to go. It takes me less time to get to school than folks in Woodland.

Many of my classmates and I live in west Davis. A few in central, a few in north. A lot of people are centered around Lake Blvd (myself included).

A heads up for those of you looking to live outside of the city: When you start clinical rotations and you're on call, you are required to be within 10-15 minutes of the hospital (I can't remember if it's 10 or 15). It's not a problem your first two years, but starting spring your 3rd year you'll need to be able to comply with that.

Also, a facebook page has been made for the class of 2019, and there is a housing google doc on there that can help you find a place to live 🙂
