Hi all!

I was recently accepted to Penn State and now i am in a dilemma. While I loved creighton and UCR, Penn State was also amazing. I am totally torn between these campuses. Wondering if anyone can offer any advice on choosing! As for how I am, I like research, but not sure if I want to MD/PhD once i am in medical school. Penn state has one and Creighton is starting theirs back up this fall. Thanks!

Personally, I would pick penn state because UCR is new and creighton is in Nebraska and is religiously affiliated.

I'm pretty sure I interviewed with you at Penn St. My question for you is do you want to stay in CA? I'm not sure what the tuition difference would be either. I think Penn St and Creighton are better known, but I didn't interview at Creighton. I really enjoyed Penn St. though, so that would probably get my vote.

I voted Penn State. Kind of wish I'd applied, actually.

Riverside isn't that great. Hot weather, traffic, and besides the school is still very new (not well-established).

Creighton is a wonderful school, the question is can you afford it? Did you like the school more than Penn State?

Great question. Creighton is as expensive as penn since I'm oos at penn. Both schools were amazing. At this point, I feel like I'm leaning between those two

I'm biased as a Creighton student, and I don't think you can go wrong with either Penn State or Creighton, but if you eventually want to land back in Cali Creighton might offer a small advantage over Penn State. In my class Californians were the second largest representation, and tons of people go back for residency; programs might have slightly better knowledge of Creighton students. Good luck with your decision!

I would pick Penn State over UCR since I would never want to be at a brand new school if I didn't have to be and a new MD/PhD program doesn't really sound that great either (con for Creighton).

FWIW, based on your post this seems like a decision between Creighton and Penn State, with UCR a backup if you get nervous about leaving the state. So, the first decision you have to make is whether or not you're OK leaving California.

From there, make a list of pros and cons for Creighton and Penn State. Which curriculum did you like better? Who has better clinical rotations? Which has better research in your field of interest? It's OK to look at match lists too, just don't go overboard and realize that they are very difficult to interpret unless you know the individuals.

Just an afterthought, but doesn't Creighton have a Phoenix option for 3rd and 4th year? That would put you close to home and at a more established school than UCR.
