I can't find that option on my amcas
it only pops up once you have an acceptance! then it updates for every other school that accepts. i know that decisions are made today, but maybe it won’t come out until later this week?

@FSUAdmissionsOffice will folks interview on Thurs/Fri 02/21 hear back today?
Yep! About to send out decisions.
If waitlisted at FSU MED and want to send an LOI is it also favorable to tour the school. I was told the school only wants students that have been admitted to tour? Anyone know the answer?
Anyone can schedule a tour by emailing COMTours@med.fsu.edu, I just caution that you will not talk with admissions folks during the tour and to try and use this as an opportunity to get in front of someone is no, no. If you want to see the place, come on!
Hi FSU, I had a quick question about submitting one final update. I’ve already sent a couple of updates throughout the cycle regarding my research and continued interest in your program. However, I am about to start a new volunteering experience that I’m excited about, and I wanted to know if it would be wise to send in an update this late in the cycle. Thank you for your time!
Send away! As someone mentioned, we are particularly interested in updates that speak to our mission areas, like community service.

Please read all materials carefully, and direct all questions like this directly to our office at medadmissions@med.fsu.edu

Fr when can we expect a “possible rejection” if we didn’t get an interview?
I already commented this before in the thread but I got my rejection last year from this school during the first week of April.

@FSUAdmissionsOffice could you please talk about how you select students for the bridge masters program. Thank you!

The below is what i see in FSU website.

"Admissions

Students will be selected for the Bridge Program from the regular Florida State University College of Medicine (FSU COM) admissions cycle. Students from medical shortage, rural, and inner-city backgrounds who do not gain direct admission to the medical school may be invited to participate. This three-semester experience will allow selected students to demonstrate growth and improvement in both academic and health-care settings. Students who complete all requirements for the Master of Science with a grade of B or better in all courses and otherwise fulfill the program requirements will be admitted to the FSU COM."

Will there be a last large batch of interviews coming to end off the cycle?

Thats what the @FSUAdmissionsOffice had mentioned few weeks ago. Hope the @FSUAdmissionsOffice shed some light into this..

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone for your engagement and interest. As of now, we have sent the last large batch of interview invites, but we will invite sporadically as interview invites are declined. We will begin to send final decisions in the next few weeks. I know this can feel like we are "dragging" things out, but we truly don't know final decisions until this time each year; it is not meant to make things worse for our applicants. I will continue to try and answer questions as the cycle comes to a close.

As for the Bridge program admissions, Applicants from the regular pool that are identified as potential Bridge go through the regular process, including interview, then are placed on our waitlist to be evaluated by a Bridge Admissions Committee. This committee convenes in the first two weeks in April and applicants are notified as soon as a decision has been made. If an applicant is offered a spot in Bridge, it is the only offer they will receive from us. Hope that helps!

Thanks!

@FSUAdmissionsOffice alright thank you for your responsiveness—your school has been my top choice, and I truly appreciate the engagement. Unfortunately, I did not receive an interview, and as a result, I will be attending another institution. However, I look forward to the possibility of collaborating with your alumni in the future.

Not sure at other COM's but at FSU looks like from the pattern, interviews are out based on GPA+MCAT score and later on see the service , research and clinical experience during or post interview. Thats my observation in a nut shell hope that helps..
FSU is all about its mission, so while a good GPA and MCAT are important, they’re not the only things that matter. They really want students who fit what they’re about—people who have experience or a real interest in primary care, geriatrics, and helping underserved communities.

Hi there,

Not sure what facts or statistics you are basing your observations on, but again, that is not the case. Not to be disrespectful, but I can't imagine that you are aware of what the service, research, or clinical experience profile is of the applicants we interview. Additionally, I am not sure how you expect your comment to help in any way, given that it is inaccurate.

We know we miss out on outstanding applicants each year; we do wish you the best of luck and hope you become an outstanding physician!

Thanks for saying this. We know what we value and it helps seeing that others see it too.

thank you fsu for always being so transparent and communicative; it really exemplifies your school environment and dedication to students and future doctors! i did want to ask, based on the timeline, is there any benefit in sending an update now?

I feel I fit into all this... I am an in-state applicant with 90% le MCAT score, 4.0 GPA, My primary interest is in geriatrics, and I have done adequate service hours, yet I was rejected pre- interview. Maybe I did not cure cancer, and so they rejected me😒😒😒

I'm curious to know when they rejected you? Early on in the cycle or towards the end?

I have a significantly lower GPA and MCAT and they didn't reject me until the end of the cycle last year. They held on to my application almost until the very end. I think other parts of my application kept them interested.

(Ultimately I think I was rejected because of my multiple MCAT attempts but who really knows 🤷‍♀️)
