I’m in state. Mold should never be an issue if the apartment is well built/maintained, and flooding is not an issue, etc. That is definitely not something I’m willing to budge on. I know how common roaches are but when there are 20+ reviews about “infestations” for 80% of apartments (+ break ins and other serious issues) it’s a bit concerning. I’ve never seen such bad reviews/major concerns for apartments in Florida and I’ve lived all over the state.

The roaches are something that I think could be somewhat easily fixed so not the worst thing!!

Has anyone been able to get through to the admissions office on the phone? This is my third or fourth time being sent to voicemail.

Out of curiosity, what do UF vet students do during lunch? Do people typically bring their own or are there places to buy a lunch?

People usually bring their own. The only place on site to buy lunch is the Einsteins in the teaching hospital. Sometimes there are food trucks (they were having them come every Wednesday at some point but I havnt seen them recently?) There are also many corporate sponsored lunch and learns to sign up for free lunch!

Does anyone know if UF normally posts photos they took of us from the Preview Day?
 
Another UF life question from me. I'm planning on biking from where I'll live to UF. Is bike theft a major issue on the UF vet campus? I have a high quality bike lock, but are things like pieces of a bike being stolen common?

Not on the vet schools campus (the bike racks are right next to the VAB entrance) - but I would be careful in your neighborhood, possibly taking your bike inside if it’s expensive. I had a classmate get a pricey bike stolen from their apartment complex a few months ago.

This is where schedules are posted. Only this current Spring schedules are up currently. Fall schedules will not be posted until the end of March as they are still finalizing changes to the curriculum / who is teaching what. The schedules tend to be similar year to year but there are often some slight changes.
 
is anyone else having trouble with the links on the acceptance email bringing you to the matriculation and acceptance forms? Mine keeps saying page not found!

At the preview days, they said email Jarron. They’re on spring break this week but he said he’s gonna work on getting it fixed!
 
Hey everyone! Congrats to everyone who has accepted their position at UFCVM! I am a current 2nd year who has a room available at the Bartram apartment complex which is 0.5 miles away from the vet campus (~10 minute walk). My other roommate is a current 1st year. We are in a spacious 3 bed/3 bath apartment (Primose floor plan) and move-in can be as early as August 1st. Rent is currently $917 per person (subject to increase upon renewal) and includes parking and internet. The complex is gated and offers great amenities, including a 24/7 fitness center, two pools, a billiards lounge, study rooms, and a café. The unit has an in-unit washer and dryer, plus a private balcony with a poolside view. Feel free to reach out if you are interested or have any questions 😀

Does anyone know when financial aid information is typically sent? Are scholarships for 1st year students a possibility?

My cycle we got our offered loans in June. Scholarships from the school aren’t very common - they are usually given to those with the highest expected debt load. There are a fair amount from veterinary organizations. They will send you a list of school scholarships to apply for that are available to first years as well. I’ve gotten one scholarship as a 3rd year and it was one I applied for so definitely apply for anything you qualify for!

how do you suggest we get the textbooks? any groups of grads that are selling them or giving them away?

There is a secret (not so secret) drop box with pdfs of all of the recommended textbook you will be supplied with. The only one we consistently used was dissection of the dog in small animal anatomy. The lectures and notes alone were more than sufficient for other classes. Some people wanted hard copies of particular textbooks (eg. For specialty) and went out and bought those. I personally didn’t buy any.
