So I received an e-mail from UI recruiting me for their MSP and I was wondering if this was actually legit. It seems weird to me that my MCAT score (30M) was recruited to such a prestigious (as they sell it) MD/PhD program. Then when I looked at their stats, 134 students with an average of a 31 MCAT and 3.66 GPA, I wondered why it was so "low" compared to the other programs out there. Does anyone have more information about this? Would it actually be worth a shot to try and apply?
my GPA 3.4 MCAT 30M and I have a lot of research experience. Thanks for your help in advance!

I got the same email, I have a 29 on the MCAT, so I was pretty surprised to say the least. I doubt a score like mine will ever have a chance to enroll in such a program, so i'm not going to pursue this.

One possible reason is that this isn't the MSTP program that most schools MD/PhD is. It is a very legitimate PhD along with an MD. Not disregarding the difficulty or legitimacy of the MSTP, but among typical PhD's it is not as highly regarded.
