I will also add, in the off chance that this applies to anyone, that if you qualify for military benefits they help a lot! Especially the GI Bill. My mom saved hers for me and MN is actually one of the few schools that will do a non-resident tuition waiver for OOS students using the GI Bill. Depending on how long you/they served dictates how much the GI bill will cover (ex 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100%). We found that since my mom served long enough it covers up to like $29,000 per year in tuition for any OOS University, but if you receive IS tuition it covers 100%. So with the non-resident tuition waiver it's classified as IS tuition so mine is fully covered. But even if not receiving the GI Bill, if a parent or spouse was/is military there are other potential financial benefits like monthly living stipend, books, etc so it's worth looking into.
