UPenn Applicants c/o 2017

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Me too! Got the phone call yesterday during my Ohio State interview! So excited! I guess I'll meet you there!! :luck: for everyone else waiting to hear from VMSTP
So far I have only received news via email (from other schools) - are you saying you got a phone call for your interview invite? Did they send anything via email?

I only got an email, but I'm not VMSTP.

I got an email for VMSTP notifying me of an interview, no phone call (although the lack of a phone call is probably because they can't call me since I'm in another country 😛). UPenn just likes to call people in addition to sending emails. For at least some acceptances (after interviews, ect.) to the traditional VMD program, I know they have called students in the past before they sent emails and paper mail.

I got a phone call, then an email about scheduling right after. I think the calling is only for VMSTP applicants!

Yes, I think cturtle is right, only VMSTP people are getting calls about interviews.

What I meant earlier is that AFTER regular vet school interviews, when Penn makes it's final vet school decisions, they will be calling at least some accepted people (my friend got a call last year).

Everytime I come home, I slowly peek in my mailbox....hah...that BIg envelop is such a tease..but thumbs up for how you are rolling with the punches

lol funny

*glaring lack of big envelope*

What the heck?

Hey anyone here applying as large animal or food animal? and have you heard anything back yet???

Thanks!

I applied as equine and I haven't heard anything back 🙁 I'm dying to know though! I freak out every time I hear the email sound on my phone. Penn is my IS

I applied as food animal/public health. I heard that they don't interview large animal people until the end, my friend last year didn't interview until late Feb...so it may be a while! They've already sent out rejections though, so maybe we should be glad we haven't heard yet!

I applied as large animal and haven't heard anything! At this point I think no news is good news 🙂

I applied to the VMSTP with an interest in equine. Was supposed to hear from the VMSTP side in mid-December, but still no word...also haven't heard yes/no from the vet school. So stressed!
For the VMSTP people who have heard, what is your vet interest? (Small animal, equine, exotics, etc)

My vet interest was research! I have a secondary interest in wildlife medicine, although my personal statement was more focused on basic science research.

Just received a letter in the mail from the combined VMD-Ph.D. program. Rejected. Ouch. Still no word from the vet school...dare I hope that this means they might consider me for the vet school?

I had no idea Penn would send rejections via snail mail. On my application, I put my current address as my school address but my permanent address as my home address. I'm at home right now for winter break, so now I'm concerned I'm getting mail at school. Is anyone else in the same position?

I'm pretty sure it's all done by email, but they might do things a little differently for the combined program admission process. I wouldn't worry about it too much. For example, in the normal admissions process, you don't get a phone call about your interview, but it sounds like they call you to offer you one if you applied to the combined program.

Oh okay, thanks for the info. I didn't apply to the combined programs

I put my home address, but my family's in the process of moving so I'm not even really at the "home" address for about half of break. This is really inconvenient timing.

Just wanted to say good luck to those interviewing tomorrow!

I have been on a roller coaster of emotions this week...

ranging from 😀 and 😎 to :scared: and :barf:

wonder what emoticon will properly describe tomorrow....? I don't recall grad school interviews, or even my post-doc interview carrying this much stress...maybe it's because this is the one...this is where I want to be 😍

Definitely come to happy hour tomorrow to let go of all the nerves

Penn wants me to interview! I am sincerely very surprised--they legitimately told me they wouldn't accept my psych stats in place of math or bio stats, but I'm glad I applied anyway. I guess they're not as dead-set on their specific requirements as I thought!

Congrats!!!! Let me know if you need a place to stay at. My offer still stands. Goes for any one else too.

UGH i suffered through retaking stats again this semester (i took psych stats as part of my major 3 years ago). wish i'd known they're not as dead set on math bio stats as they seem.

I am with you here!!! On the train now.... Definitely feeling the :barf: !!!

Does anyone know what the odds of getting accepted are if you get an interview? Just a little too curious 🙂

And I hope everyone who interviewed today kicked ass

I've seen from previous Penn threads that the acceptance rate of early interviews is really high. You'll probably get the phone call tomorrow or Tuesday 🙂

I don't interview until the 25th, which I think is their third day of interviews? Either way you made my day haha.

Speaking of the interviews on 1/4, HAS ANYONE THAT INTERVIEWED THAT DAY HEARD ANYTHING YET?

I'm dying in anticipation.

I doubt they'll be in on the weekends so you'll probably hear tomorrow. :xf:

Patience is a very, VERY hard thing to come by when waiting to hear from schools.

Me too!
I am not expecting anything until end of this week or early next. Hoping for the best 😉 <3Penn

They told us there is a special large animal interview day in early February. They take the applicants out to New Bolton center. Not sure if they sent out the invites for that yet...

Has anyone who interviewed on Friday heard a peep from Penn?? I know they said a week to ten days but I'm beginning to panic!

No....but if I don't quit checking my phone/email/SDN soon I am sure to go mad!! 😀

Have the only interviews/interview invites thus far been for the dual degree program?

Do you know if equine is included in the large animal day?

Just as a heads up, I'm pretty sure that not everyone who is interested in large animal/equine goes on the large animal interview day, especially if you mentioned that you are mixed. I have a friend or two who are mixed/large animal that interviewed on normal interview days.

And no, not all of the interview invites have been for the dual degree program.

gahh I'm going to go mad if I don't hear soon! I think my productivity at work has gone to work for 5 minutes, check SDN/email/phone for 5 minutes, sigh, start the cycle again!

I've been a long time lurker on this thread, and I figured that it is finally time to post! 😛

I have my interview this Friday, and I'm pretty nervous because Penn is my IS school and it is the only school I applied to (a lot of financial issues).

Would anyone be willing to give some feedback about their interview experience?

Also, do all students have to wait 7-10 days to hear an answer, or just the VMSTP students?

Thanks so much in advance!

I was offered an interview for 1/18 in mid december and I did not apply to the dual degree program.
