All students have to wait the 7-10 days but it's usually the Monday or Tuesday after that you hear. I thinkthe latest I know of someone hearing is Wednesday. I think it takes a little longer if they put you on hold.


I can type up a bit more about my intereview experience after class (here till 7) but I'm pretty sure I've posted about it either earlier in this thread or in the class of 2016 thread.

Congrats and good luck on Friday! I'll bet it will be more fun than you expect - everyone there is extremely friendly and very easy to talk to.

I'd be happy to give feedback from my interview (1/4/2013) - ask away or PM me. (Though I can't exactly tell you how I did, as I have no idea whether or not I've been accepted)...:scared:

OMG! I just walked out to my mailbox and there was a nice fat first class letter size envelope from Penn Vet! I was so excited I skipped going out to the barn to see my boys and ran up to the house. . .only to find my old horse health records being returned from NBC. *faceplant* Didn't even bother to notice that it was from field services. Just :what: mean!
Going back out to see the guys now. . .

I had a really good time there! The atmosphere and the people were laid back, and the students were helpful. Everyone seemed genuine and honest. My interview was pretty low key, they asked questions that really pertained to me and my application, like things I mentioned in my PS. Feel free to PM me also if you have specific questions.
Also I work at Penn near 30th so if you go through there and need any help getting to Hill or directions in general just let me know. . .that goes for anyone 😀

I was walking out of work and checking my phone when I received this -- and all I read was "mailbox... nice fat letter.... Penn Vet" -- I then booked it home, checked the mailbox, and had a mild heart attack because I didn't get a letter... then I read the full post... hahahahah!!!

Hopefully the boys helped calm your nerves a bit. 😀

Quick question for the already interviewed. Do they still have the closed interview? In previous years I know they had people interview with people who already saw their application and people who didn't. I just wanna know how many actual interviews I'll have.

It's half and half. One person hasn't seen your file and one has.

lol...sorry!! I didn't mean to scare, I just thought that was too funny not to share! So today SHOULD be the day, eh? Thank God I am working in the qPCR "closet" all day and won't be in touch with reality. Anyone know how they might choose to contact us?

Feel like I'm 5 years old again, waiting 'til Christmas morning to open presents!!!

Thanks! My 18yo Walker/mix has Cushing's 🙁 we thought he was borderline IR
But we have him on meds now, changed his diet/exercise, and have a farrier working with us to restore a proper shape to his feet. BTW - those soft-ride boots are awesome (http://www.softrideboots.com/)!!
 
I haven't heard anything from UPenn since I received confirmation that my application was complete in November. I can't tell if this means that perhaps they haven't even looked at my application yet, they haven't informed me yet that I am rejected, or I am still in the running? I sent them my Fall '12 transcripts late last week, so I hope they will consider those...

You can seriously hear about interviews all the way through February and possibly March. Try not too read too much into it.

One interview.

As orca says, it's half & half, but it's only one interview. IOW, you interview with two people at the same time, one who has seen your file and one who is meeting you cold.

Just got the equine and large animal specific interview invite! So excited, Penn is my number one.. Just in case anyone is waiting on it. Good luck to everyone!

I haven't heard anything either. 😕

I wonder if they've already reviewed everyone and are interviewing their favorites first...? How many days of interviews can these people possibly have?!?! I'm dreading the outcome...

First day of interviews was last Friday and they have them every Friday through at least February

What day is your equine/ LA interview?

My friend heard really late last year, so I'm still hoping for some news soon!
 
It's February 8th, all day long since they take you out to the NBC.
 
My LA/equine interview is on the 8th too!!! So excited 🙂

No everyone usually hears. I didn't interview during the first week, but maybe they take a bit longer since they have fewer applicants to compare interviews against. I feel like they can make decisions faster further into the process because they are able to compare your interview to others. I interviewed in February both cycles and knew my status by like the Monday or Tuesday after my interview.

Sorry it seems to be taking longer to get decisions to you guys. Hang in there.

I haven't heard anything yet either, but I'm not too worried. They said it would take 5-10 days and they also said it would be different this year since they are handling the scholarships differently (they said they like to tell you about those when they send out the decision).

Congrats to everybody who got in! I applie for vet/ phd but got a snail mail rejection dated dec13. That's ok, still got into csu!

Does UPenn give you a choice of interview dates? Or do they tell you the exact day and time you will be interviews?

They give you a day and typically won't reschedule unless it's something like a death in the family. The time you find out the day of your interview.
 
Are the small animal interviews the last to be conducted? From what I see here they offer in batches based on interest? I have yet to hear anything back from Penn too.... :/

Nah. They're done throughout. They are offered in batches, but all interests are scattered throughout. They try to give those who seem to be definitely interested in large animal/equine the one day so everyone can go to New Bolton, but I know people who are mixed/large animal that didn't interview that day.

Since they're already sent out invites for the large animal/equine day, do you think they are done inviting people for that day? I'm starting to get really nervous...I'm IS with interest in equine.

Honestly, I'm not sure since I'm not large animal. I just know that I have classmate who have large animal interests that didn't interview on the large animal day.
 
So, it's 8 p.m. and I had pretty much given up on receiving a call.... BUT IT JUST CAME!!!! Wahoooo!!! I am so thrilled, just wanted to share the news! (And give hope that they are still making phone calls).

The "boys" were unimpressed until I produced carrots. Then they came over to talk to me.
