So, Roanoke is the closest mainstream airport (about a 45 minute drive). The other option would be Charlotte, NC, which is bigger and much farther away (multiple hours).

Dr. Pelzer said in class today that they had over 1600 applications for the next class. Gook luck to everyone!
Thats disgusting haha

Lynchburg, VA or Greensboro, NC are also options for airports. Sometimes I find flights cheaper to Lynchburg than Roanoke for whatever reason, but it's 1 hr 45 min drive to Blacksburg from there.

Current first year here - good luck to all of you! Don't worry if you get waitlisted at first, it will all work out. Feel free to message me with any questions!

I was waitlisted for out of state last year. Didn't get called off. I'm a nervous wreck this year. Hoping for another chance.

Does anyone know if they will send out denial notifications as well, or just interview invites?

I'm hoping it's the former. If it's good news, great. If it's bad news, just break our hearts now and get on with it, lol.

I agree, waiting and not knowing is so painful!

Last year, at the interview dinner, Dr. Pelzer said that VA-MD sends out 1 rejection letter for those that apply but will not be interviewed.

After that, if you're interviewed, you are either admitted or put on the wait list.

I was on the OOS waitlist last year, did not make it off the list. Fingers crossed I make it out this year. I gotta sign out of the forums, I can practically hear all of our hopeful hearts racing nervously and it is not doing anything to calm my nerves.

They are going to send them this late on the day?

Why not? Who knows, really. Sometimes I hear from schools at the strangest hours and even on weekends.

I would not be surprised if they only send a few out today, and then send the rest out over the course of tomorrow. 1600 applications is a lot to go through and notify everyone of their status..

I think all they do is push the send button. Like they would have already made decisions. If that's what they do, then everyone would get them today.

Last year, all of the emails went out within about half an hour.

CAN THEY SEND THEM ALREADY

All this worrying about when these e-mails will come are driving me crazy :dead:
I don't think I'll be concentrating very well at work tomorrow....

I have an exam today and I've been refreshing my email since 6 am. And yes, I know 6 am is a very unrealistic time to get an email but i can't help myself :nailbiting:

Well I just got a rejection email 🙁 so you guys may want to check your emails

I just received the same e-mail as well... 🙁🙁
It's not looking too great for me (o/3 so far). Good luck to the rest of you

Nothing YET, which I guess follows the whole "no news is good news" line of thought...but now I'll be refreshing my email for the next hour non-stop waiting for at rejection email :bucktooth:

hopefully no news is good news! good luck!

I just received an email saying that I'm on an interview waitlist. Was that a rejection?

no, the rejection i got was just a flat out rejection. I'm assuming that means if people turn down their invitation to interview, you'll be invited to interview

Nope, rejections were told they were not considered for admission at all.

Rejected :/

I was put on the interview waitlist.... What's the likelihood I will potentially get an interview?
