Does anyone know how much the waitlist typically moves for VA IS? I’m assuming not much :/

I don’t know for sure (and I’m in the same boat- MD alternate) but I was always told the in-state pools move very little, if at all because it’s usually peoples first choice by tuition cost. But fingers crossed for us both!

IS (MD) Accepted! Will be attending for sure.
For those searching the thread next year The email went out at 3:01 pm and subject for acceptance letter is “Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine Offer Letter”

Haven’t heard anything yet. Those of you getting emails, are they coming out this late or did you just see them from earlier?

Does anyone know any online programs that offer biochemistry or physics with lab? I completely spaced that I have to finish before summer.

Hi everyone! First year student here 😉 Congratulations to all of you!!! To those of you who maybe didn't get the answer you were hoping for, you should still be so proud of yourselves for making it this far! I know it can be a tough thing to hear, I got accepted my third time applying/interviewing, so please don't be discouraged.
To those of you who were accepted, welcome aboard!! I look forward to hopefully meeting you all 🙂 VMCVM has been a great fit for me so far, and I'm more than happy to try to answer any questions you might have!

A friend of mine went through the university of New England (I think that’s what the name was) and took both biochem and physics online

Somebody in one of the classes above me did courses through them.... @love2hunt maybe?

Does anyone know how far down they went on the alternate list last year? Obviously we don’t know our placements on the list right now, but I’m just trying to see how much it moves?

I did physics through their program, too. It's made for busy pre-health students like us.

Are there any public/corporate trackers at VMCVM that I could ask a few questions to? I am so excited!!

Grats to everyone that's been accepted.

For those asking about the IS wait list, it varies significantly each year. For 2020 I know a number of people that got off the MD wait list, and I think one or two for VA as well. Previous years have been less, though. It's impossible to say! Someone in my class got off the wait list DURING ORIENTATION, so keep in mind it can always happen.

I'm in the first graduating class of the new curriculum, so if you have any questions feel free to reach out!

Feel free to PM me, I will be tracking P/C, currently a first year congrats to everyone who got in! You’ll absolutely love it here. For those who didn’t quite get the answer they were hoping for stay in the fight and persevere! The timing is always right.

Does VMCVM require us to purchase a specific computer?

If you don't mind community college, Northern VA Community College offers both biochem (3 credits) and physics with lab (4 credits) online. The Biochem is only lecture but it meets the requirement for VMCVM

IS or OOS?

So OOS for sure moves more than IS. Last year it went at least ten people in on the waitlist. However, this does not include several people who dropped off, so I’m guessing for every one person who got in another dropped out of consideration so it was more like the wait list moved ~20 spots. This is just guesswork but you may have a pretty good chance depending on your number.

I’m on the Maryland waitlist and anxiously awaiting April 1 so we can find out our rankings!

Hi thank you! Fingers crossed I’ll make it! Is it true that virginia-maryland does not decline people? That everyone who did not get accepted get waitlisted???

I've heard this from the admissions advisor there, so pretty much yes

Yes after interviews you are accepted or waitlisted. But, you have to keep in mind that most schools waitlist 100-150 people (sometimes more), so that’s pretty normal.
Maryland had ~60 interview for 30 seats (so 30 waitlist)
Virginia had ~75 interview for 50 seats (so 25 waitlist)
OOS had ~165 interview for 40 seats
(So 125 waitlist)

I asked this on my tour but forgot the answer - what's the daily schedule during our classroom years? 9-4 M-F or something like that? Just curious as I'm thinking about what fitness classes or other activities I could fit in to my week.

It depends on the day, but typically our classes from M-Th start at 8 and go until 12. In the afternoon you’re either in the 1-3pm lab section or the 3 to 5pm one. And you alternate sections every lab so you don’t stay late on consecutive lab days. On Friday we usually have integrative sessions in the morning so most of the time we’re done by either noon on fridays unless there’s a change in the schedule. In The Normal Animal we didn’t have as many 8am classes but in all the courses after that we’ve been starting at 8am everyday. Hope this helps and congrats to everyone again!

Thanks for the detailed reply! Very helpful 🙂

has anyone heard anything about waitlist movement yet?

If anyone accepted is looking for housing, I am moving out of my room by June 1 in Blacksburg to complete my internship year. The house has been in vet student hands for years, has a fenced yard and doggie door. You would be taking over the master bedroom which is HUGE. Send me a message if interested!

Second year first semester you are in class almost every Monday through Thursday from 8am to 5pm. The most intensive semesters I have ever had in my life, but it was amazing since it was all internal medicine. Second semester of second year you are not in class as much, because you will be in your spay labs which last the majority of the day. However, every week is always different for each semester and even within each class. You usually get your class schedule one or two days before the semester starts.

Do we have to wait until after April 1st to receive our rank?
