Waiting for LOMA LINDA!?!?!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
bump...any news? Is the committee meeting this week and calling on Friday?

Hopefully they aren't taking that long break around this time.

quick update everyone. LLU called me today because the fin. aid letter they sent me was returned. Anyway, after I cleared that issue up, I asked the lady (Ms. Pauline) if the admission committee takes a break during the month of March and continues in April, or whether they are meeting this month. She said (pretty emphatically) that they meet every month and will be meeting this month. So there is still hope!!!!!

Thanks Doctajay! Hopefully we'll get some calls this week!

I was complete in mid December and I got the letter feb 7. Weird thing is that they still didn't give me an interview date? After I called the office, the secretary kept saying that L Edwards will call me with a date, and its been 2 weeks now. Should I be worried?

I say try calling Mrs. Edwards again...this is hard because she never seems to be at her desk. I tried several times to call her and was successful only when I called between 1-2pm. I get the impression that the office of admissions isn't too organized. I'm scheduled for my interview March 8, Thursday, but it's not a real interview day...so no tour or lunch or info session. Just the interviews, I think...but when I called the office to ask about this the secretary knew nothing and Mrs. Edwards wasn't at her desk.

All that said, I hear great things about Mrs. Edwards, so maybe it's just a really busy time for her. Also, it's a great school, with their students always getting the top scores on the boards and other required tests.

Those of you who are interviewing/have interviewed with LLU, would you mind posting your stats and whether or not you are Seventh Day Adventist? I'm wondering if I should give up hope since I have been complete since October....🙁

MCAT: 32N (11B, 11C, 10V)
UG GPA: 3.4
Grad GPA: 3.8 (MPH soon)
Interview: 3/8/07
Religion: Christian, but not SDA

As far as I know, Ms. Edwards and Dr. Nyirady are the only people in the office that can actually answer questions. Everyone else just pretty much directs calls to the right person. Also, Ms. Edwards (from what I understand) isn't a normal secretary. She is tightly integrated into the admissions process at LLU, so that may be why she isn't present when you call, although she has been there everything I have called. I hope it all works out for you!

Anyone know if the call will come this week or next?

I got a call exactly a week after I gave L Edwards a call scheduling my interview. You might want to give them a call again just to make sure.

As to Stats, mine are pretty low. I'm still surprised they asked for an interview. Though I don't think it had anything to do with my being a seventh-day Adventist. My gpa is 3.2 and I had a 25 on the MCAT. This is my first time applying to LLU.

I think there's still hope though, so you guys hang in there.

medmania, when did you interview?
I'm a little confused. Do you mean you got a call for acceptance a week after your INTERVIEW? Did they call and tell you your interview date a few days before your interview...

Well, they sent me a letter asking me to call and schedule an interview. L. Edwards asked which days I would be available in March and April. After telling her, and requesting that I'd prefer the earlist posible date, someone from her office called back a week afterwards to let me know the date. Then they sent another letter, where I had to call to confirm. LOL....I'm not surprised you're confused too.

To the earlier question, I had noticed that their requirements were much higher than my gpa and MCAT. I wasn't sure if they gave special preference to adventist in terms of requirements.

Did anyone else get an email about filling out a bunch of financial aid information from llu? Like there were some forms and an online financial aid test.

I haven't been accepted or anything, but I'm on my spring break so I just filled them out.

I got that email too, immediately after listing LLU on my FAFSA. Since, I haven't been accepted yet, I emailed the financial aid office. They said the deadline for fin.aid preference is April 1. Apparently, they operate completely separately from the admissions office. Wierd! I started filling it out too...

Does anyone know if LLU actually gives financial aid? Or is it primarily just for the many many loans we will be taking out?

So supposedly they will be calling this Friday right?

Is anybody getting a bit fed up with LLU? I interviewed more than 3 months ago and they haven't given me ANY word. At least just wait list me!

I'm hoping to hear something Friday, too. You've been waiting much longer than I have though. Have you heard anything at all? Perhaps, you should send them an update to your file, or a letter of intent. At least that would cause them to pick up your file again.
Good luck on Friday! 😕

I have...as a matter of fact I have sent A LOT of updates. I called them and said I interviewed 3 months ago and have heard no word. The secretary just said "it is up to the admissions com blah blah." Eh....just have to wait it out.

UM yes it has EVERYTHING to do with u being SDA. and honestly I think that is crap ....sorry but this process has really frustated me, and me having a better gpa and a way better mcat can't get me an interview cuz im not SDA/christian. that is ridiculous

You have to keep in mind that it is a private school, meaning they could seek whatever type of applicant they want. This process is frustrating...yes...but you can't complain about not having received an interview at a particular school just because somebody with lower stats received one. If it was like that, I could complain about every school that I applied to.

I'm sure that being SDA REALLY helped that person though, seeing that their GPA and MCAT are well below the average for the school.

Hey guys. I just have one question about financial aid.

I have finished all required steps except filling out and sending in MPN. How did you guys find out your lender's address? Also, do you just send the first page?

Also, I hope you guys hear some good news this week, especially those of you who interviewed long time ago. I interviewed there in january, but haven't heard anything from them yet. According to my friend who is 1st year at LLU, most of SDA members get in first and non-sda members get in usually later in the cycle unless your stats are really high. (Of course, she can be wrong) This "preference" thing can be very frustrating but lets just try our best to be patient. Good luck everyone! 🙂

If you are using T.H.E, then download and use thier MPN from the link below:

http://www.northstar.org/downloads/876529MPNForm.pdf

You only need to mail the first page, but you should definetly read the pages after it.

You are suppose to mail that MPN form to the financial aid office right? It didn't really say where to send it.

Any responses today? I had my interview last week on the eighth. My friend also has is interview but it was on the ninth. I see some of you have been waiting for a while. Sorry to hear that. Anyway good luck everyone.

I also interviewed on the 8th. Still hoping to hear something today...but it's out of our hands, now.

i was hoping for a call today but nothing 😕
The day's not over yet!!

Good luck! 😉

This is debatable. I have been to Dr. Nyirady's presenatations multiple times and the way the data is presented is ambigious. I have friends who are currently there and some of the things the schools says are just not the way they are. Also good luck with your classrooms and anatomy labs from the 50s and 60s. Way to put good use to your $40k/yr LLU.

What time do they usually call? Day is almost over.

Maybe they didn't call today? I'm hoping so...

interviewed on the 6th and wasn't expecting any sort of call until next month...

so...maybe today wasn't the day??😕

Does this mean we are going to be waitlisted? According to my first post in this thread, we were supposed to hear by March (i don't even remember the admissions office saying that though).

Maybe they skipped this month due to spring break.

I got a call from LLU today.

hey fss8221985, was the call an acceptance call and if so when did you interview

Really guys, still no word?

I've officially joined the ranks of the waiting.

do you think calls will go out today?
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news...but according to the LLU C/O 2011 thread, a few people received calls on Monday and Tuesday of this week. 🙁 Unfortunately, we don't seem to have been among those called. I'm hoping that we don't have to wait all the way until next month for another round of calls.
The good news is, insiders say that LLU doesn't usually outright reject you, they just put your file aside to be looked at again during the next meeting. Here's to praying for a better outcome soon!
