Thanks so much!

I wanted to get a sense of how I might feel during and after the interview... my thoughts tend to freeze up if I'm very nervous. I think that reading/hearing about others' experiences, their moments of pride or regret and their thoughts immediately after the interview will help me mentally prepare myself. This way, I can imagine myself in your shoes. If anyone else would like to share their thoughts after being interviewed, I would greatly appreciate it! It means a lot to me (and I hope it helps others too!)

Yes, I have been interviewed before and for the most part, I feel that I've done pretty well! BUT this could be the most important interview of my life... totally different from anything I've ever been interviewed for. Hopefully all goes well!

Thanks again 🙂
No problem it helps me too. If it helps, the interviewers were very nice this year.
Oh so exciting! When are you/did you interview? Good luck!! Do share how it goes I would love to hear 🙄

My interview is in Winnipeg on May 27. It's my first WCVM interview so I'm trying to learn more about it the best that I can! Hopefully the panel is nice. I'm sure minimal interview roasting will be done if I keep practicing, practicing, practicing and staying positive 👍

Also I just got a chocolate lab tattoo on my back last week. I'm a strong believer it will bring me good luck haha!

How did everyone feel the WCVM interviews went? I think mine went well, and they liked my experience but some of my answers could have definitely been better. And I totally forgot to mention two of the specialists I have worked with ‍

anyone who interviewed first round have any advice for us second-rounders?? 🙂
The best advice I can give, would be to know your application very well, and be able to speak about your veterinary experiences. I found my interview very personal, and focused way more on my experience than I expected! That was the advice I received from a couple current vet students as well prior to my interview, and I think that it helped me prepare.
Good luck!

I also thought it was very personal like @westcoastgirl12 says! To add to it, make sure you give a confident, engaging and honest introduction of yourself. I noticed the difference between my interview being a disaster and decent was when I had a proper opening it went really well. First impressions I guess? Good luck to you!! Do share how it goes 😀

Thanks for the advice westcoastgirl and meeses!
My interview is on Thursday.. getting pretty nervous!
Any other Thursday interviewees?

So nervous already! I work all day Friday and it’ll be a busy Oncology day, so I’m not sure if I should just wait till I get home to check my email. I don’t want to get bad news, then have to face owners also dealing with bad news!

Thanks. I had heard the same thing but thought I would check with you all

Does everyone think the WCVM offers will be out before or after the weekend?? I'm refreshing my emails like crazy at this point.

Last year I received my rejection letter at 8:30am on Friday ... I hope they are able to send them in the morning again!

Just curious for those who have been through the process before - do they say if you are accepted or rejected in the email? Or do you have to go on the portal to check?

They send you an email saying the final decision has been made and to check the online portal, but they don't tell you directly in the email

This is a great reminder. I also applied twice and have been in uni for 6 year. Don't give up!!!
I got in to WCVM from AB.. so, so excited!!
Congrats to everyone who got in .. and to everyone who didn't- don't give up. I applied 3 times, and have been in uni for 6 years.

Congratulations to all that got in.

Sadly I didn’t get in. 🙁 I’m actually shocked by how low I am after seven years of school and three applications. Feeling a little lost.

Congrats everyone!! I am an alternate as well 🙂 I have no idea how many people they put as alternates or if there is any way to know your alternate rank, but its better than last year so I'll take it!!🙂

Have you done file reviews of your interviews in the past? If not, be sure to do one this year so you know what you need to improve upon and how you can make yourself a stronger candidate. There was a person in our class who had 5 interviews before she finally got in.

I know it's heartbreaking to wait another year, but you can get in if you keep working at it!

I received a call about an hour ago from Dr. Singh at UCVM! I can’t believe it! I have heard amazing things about both programs, so it will be a difficult decision! I am so overwhelmed and grateful for these opportunities! Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear and congrats to everyone who has been offered acceptance!! :soexcited:
