Hey! So im OOS and looking to move in the summer to start WSU CVM in the fall. I was wondering how to pursue housing, as my husband and two dogs would be coming with me. Im scared to commit to a place without seeing it first. I found one I like, but there's 4 rooms and the rent is pricey for just my husband and I. Is anyone to roomate?

That sounds about right honestly. I pay $1300 for an older 3 bed duplex. My friends have a nice house to themselves with 3 small bedrooms and a fenced yard and they pay around $2000. We are all in Pullman. More stuff will open up closer to the summer as people move out. If you are willing to drive from Colfax or another nearby small town, you can definitely get cheaper rent

I wonder if the admissions office would tell you how many people are on the OOS waitlist since they told me how many are on the Washington one. Given that many OOS people likely have other acceptances and multiple people on the waitlist have already taken themselves off, I am sure they waitlist a lot of people because they expect a lot of movement.

They wouldn’t tell me when I asked unfortunately just how the tiers were structured :/ I might reach out in a few weeks for more info unless someone else gets other info out of them in the meantime. I just assume its 10 per tier. They told me there were approximately 40 people on the waitlist. I've seen people say they are in Tiers 1-4. therewasonlyone was told by the admissions office that there were 9 other people int he top tier with them. Given that there are 4 tiers and we know Tier 1 has 10 people, it makes sense that each tier would have 10 people because that is an even division of the 40 on the waitlist.
Do we know how many OOS spots there are this year? There are around 52 IS spots, so they waitlisted almost as many people as they admitted.

Update from the meeting today. The application process and number of accepted seats have been change because Utah leaving us this year. New composition of the class of 2029 is available online at WSU DVM page.
Little summary here: we historically accept about 25 OOS. This year increase to 60 OOS seats including WICHE, non residents and 2 seats are specially to international students.
Besides, keep an eye on your email starting next week. I am not able to share the exact date but just FYI that the decisions will be out soon. You can also check the timeline on the websites. Feel free to ask questions.

Holy crap! I assume that is to replace the Utah students. That's wild. I was hoping they would increase the IS number instead. There was a bill proposed in the state of Washington to designate funding to provide quite a few more Washington spots, but it has not passed yet.

I’m in a pickle personally bc I was accepted to the CSU/UAF program and it’s my own fault for not doing my due diligence bc I cannot afford to attend(csu oos tuition plus fees due to UAF every semester I was unaware of- would be breaking into 400+k loan territory). So if I am not accepted from waitlist I’ll be reapplying next year 🙂

WSU is generally regarded as one of the cheapest schools to attend due to the fact that you can establish residency after Y1, and the COL is low in Pullman.

So for me in particular WSU would be a few hundred thousand dollars cheaper overall bc I have family in Pullman who have graciously offered me free room and board if I was to attend there. Plus CSU/USF is upwards of 75-78k a year in tuition alone when I add the uncertain 3-5k a semester to UAF added to the oos CSU tuition. So yes, exponentially more expensive lol

I do not know where/how to put down the deposit. I got my formal acceptance letter in the mail today but it didn’t mention anything about the actual deposit (just told me to make sure to be there for orientation and complete my prerequisite coursework). There is a Facebook group for the class of ‘29 but they haven’t started accepting anyone into the group yet (probably soon once we start accepting our offers). There is a Facebook group called WSU CVM Students: Classifieds that you can join to discuss housing and other things with all WSU vet students.

No deposit 🙂 They send out acceptance confirmation forms that you sign and send back to them.

There is the WSU CVM Classifieds Facebook group and they should be making one for CO 2029 soon!
