She didn't say she turned into stone. She says she protected one of us last night.

However it doesn't sound ANYTHING like the wiki description

I took a quick look at the wiki, and that's what it sounds like to me. Stone or not, still not a creature you want to mess with--which fits with the Final Fantasy monsters that I know. Not that I expect DVM to have included Final Fantasy monsters, but it is another point in the "danger" column. 😉

She said she was a catoblepa and could protect one person each night. That really doesn't match up with the mythology of her creature. Googling took me to an Italian page that google so nicely translated for me. Maybe she thought people couldn't get to it through google? I dunno.

And yeah if Squirrels says she is a Catoblepa - then I am not convinced she is good with this description:

The catoblepas (from the Greek καταβλέπω, (katablép&#333😉 "to look downwards") is a legendary creature from Ethiopia, described first by Pliny the Elder and later by Claudius Aelianus. It is said to have the body of a buffalo and the head of a wild boar. Its back has scales that protect the beast, and its head is always pointing downwards. Its stare or breath could either turn people into stone, or kill them. The catoblepas is often thought to be based on real-life encounters with wildebeest, such that some dictionaries say that the word is synonymous with "gnu."
 
And she told me her role bc I demanded it lol. I wanted to see if it was bs or plausible.

Honestly, since this is based on a fantasy-type mishmash that DVM dreamed up, maybe she didn't think we'd question it? I mean, if cuit had come out on the thread and said her role was Con Tram Nu O'c, would any of us have linked that with "investigation" at all? Or wolfspeaker's "water leaper" being a wolf?

I totally thought the names were just made up from DVMs head until Lissa wiki'd Catoblepa.

At first I wasn't really on the bandwagon, but with this whole role thing coming out, I have nothing better and apparently neither do you. :shrug:

Yeah I think this game is going to be tougher for sure... when I first read the lynch for WS I could not tell whether a water leaper was good or bad... I had to read the write-up a few times

That and she said "malevolent creature" in the write-up, just like in the intro. But from just the name Water Leaper, no. 🙁 That is totally going to make it tough unless the other wolves are all obvious like "vampire" or "rusalka" or something.

I really hope this is right, it certainly sounds like it is! Whyyy would wolf speaker say she had to look up squirrels name?? LOL thanks though!! Either that or she is messing with us by getting us to lynch a villager, although with her role that she vokunteered it doesn't sound like it...just like I said with the basilisk, too...yay katie8 for being an Hp need with me! 😀

True. I had missed it at first but the red popped out.
 
Why is it that every time I play WW, I see my role on my phone, and then when I go back and see it on my computer later on, 3 more lines show up with a description of my power 😕

Idk. I've noticed that on other games and I was like WTF wish I knew that when it was of some use!
 
I totally just googled mine, too. The description was very similar to what DVM said and kind of makes sense...

OH MY GOD, people. STOP INSINUATING YOU HAVE ROLES!!!! This makes you a target!!! For the love of G-d.

The only exception where this would be ok is if this is a game where EVERYONE has roles. I am not aware that this is the case??
