Personally, I don't like Mel's tin-foil-hat theories in general...especially this early in the game.
Tin-foil-hat theory: Lady-Mix-a-lot doesn't like my tin-foil-hat theory because its right and Mixy is a wolf with Egg. Did I say tin-foil-hat theory enough for you yet? 😉

Last time you gave tin-foil-hat theory you were wolf and your theory was fodder for distraction (although I have a feeling this is what you do regardless if wolf or village). I just don't like it overall.

wait, I thought that was the point of Day 1? to lynch, then unlynch, then lynch somebody else?

...thinking this is probably why I always get lynched fast...

So it's something you'd think he do regardless of affiliation, but it's sketchy?

Don't mischaracterize.

First of all; Staypos posted about Finn lynching first.
Second; Mel even pointed out that the idea gave her village cred in speed game and bit him. There's justification and consistency there. It doesnt' mean he isn't a wolf (wolves can be consistent fo sho) but your statement of his post is absurd.

Plus. It is day one. You jump on something and push and watch the response. Otherwise it's a bunch of BS random votes and that's no fun. Don't discourage good play.
Totally agree.

However, I am going to have to go back and re-read some of these quick-to-strategize posts later tonight because it is kinda sketchy. D1 is such a guessing game and jumping onto people for lynching a random person doesn't sit right with me (looking at you, LIS). I thought D1 lynches were a shot in the dark anyways and I don't think that's indicative of a wolf, imo.

Yo @Crayola227 I saw your likes but nothing said yet. Whatcha thinkin'.
I saw this, too, but didn't want to get on her case because I'm afraid to damage my like ratio.

(I'm kidding, obviously. I am a touch concerned she is holding back, because I know it was a challenge for her to maintain post volume initially when we were wolves together).

Yeeeeeeeah p sure that was my downfall in the noob game.

Probably going to happen again though.

Since tomorrow is Saturday, and I have had to go in early and stay late this week, yes, major hydrating going to be happening this wweekend. should be interesting!

Has there every been a game where most of the participants were hydrated for a majority of the game? That might be a cool idea...wait. not that I am advocating non-stop hydrating or anything...honestly.

Totally agree.

So, they can be initially, but if you're under the impression there is nothing to go off of on D1 -- particularly a long first cycle like this -- you are in for a surprise.

And frankly, I'm honestly a little surprised you are not more aware of how D1 voting can be useful, considering that you just came off of a wolf game, and prior to that, a game where a wolf got lynched D1. You should know better by now.

I feel like D1 votes are more useful later in the game when we know more about people who have died.

I also got the impression that the greeney catch in michigan was a lucky break. Greeney said herself that she ghosted inadvertedly (she was busy that day or something).

Idk, I’m still learning. I hate D1. I make sure to reading everything carefully, though, bc recalling D1 movement can be helpful down the line.

We get wolves D1... fairly regularly. Some of its random, sure, but catching something off the first day depends on people actually talking. Absolutely D1 can be great looking back, but it's good on it's own too.

Personally as a player I don't like tin foil hat theories. I'm saying I haven't played much with Mel before, last time when I did his tin foil hat theory was just distraction as he was wolf. Since I haven't played with him before I don't know if it's a common thing, but would tend to think it probably is but I don't know that's why it's sketch to me.

I feel like mistaking one vote for a bandwagon is more villagey then wolf atm. But if she's hydrated then I guess could be either.
Fair, which is one of the reasons why I'm not voting for her at the moment. The more concerning part for me was the statement about not liking strategic votes.

She's one of those people who I immediately get sketch vibes from, though, regardless of her affiliation (maybe even more so than @Coopah).

That's what I was trying to decide with Finn. Her comment made me think wolfy. Though I haven't played with her much to know I that's normal. I don't think pips is more or less helpful as a wolf vs village.
Thanks (I think). I tried really hard last game to stay agnostic with any advice I posted on the thread.

Still kind of in mentor mode. And given some of the gross misconceptions that were still being thrown around at the end of that game... I am probably going to stay in mentor mode for a bit, particularly if new players ask direct questions about game conventions. So, I would hope people wouldn't be leaning on that as a gauge for affiliation.

So you think tin foil hat theories are sketchy on the whole, particularly with regards to Mel, but you also aren't sure about it being sketchy for Mel and you actually don't know why you think they are sketchy in general?

That's a lot of inconsistencies there, and it strikes me as someone who is maybe a bit nervous.

I think they're sketchy in general because they are often going down a rabbit hole and are distractions that village gets caught up with. I've only played 2 games and this is all I've seen.

Lol perhaps you have not seen me or any of the other officers of the Tin Foil Hat Brigade get ignored yet 😉

Crazy theories can lead to a distraction, sure. But they can also be right. And when they are right, sometimes they can be really, really right. In any case, what you are talking about here is tunneling on crazy theories, not putting them out there in the first place. I think it would be pretty hard to argue that generating more discussion is a bad thing.

Still not a fan of the uncertainty or the backtracking -- gonna hang out on this vote for a bit, I think.

D1 is a lot like I approach baking things--look in the fridge, then in the pantry, see what ingredients I have; then decide what I am hungry for; wait, do have the stuff to make that? No, well, ok, what can I make out of what I have...do I have a recipe for that? hmm...let me look...nope. ok, what else can I make? O, cool, I can make this!! LOL

Don't like this for the same reason I don't like Asparagus (except I hate Asparagus IRL:laugh:)
I only meant that he (or she?) is enthusiastic and that it adds to the fun of the game (esp since I was in dead chat for most of the noob game).

I think it would be pretty hard to argue that generating more discussion is a bad thing.
I agree with Pippy here, I think that bringing up the possibility of these tin foil hat theories could be distracting, but better to bring them up than not (and potentially lose out on a big win for village).

I haven't seen any in my experience that aren't just distractions. I can see how they can also be right and what you're saying and I just have yet to see it in how you're saying and know this is a possibility which is why I'm like this could just be Mel regardless of affiliation because I know it can be a thing I just haven't seen it yet.

Is the comma on your keyboard broken? 😉

No, I want you all to focus and DO YOUR JOBS

but, i do appreciate the vote

Wasn't paying attention to if it was a tie or not, but not a retaliatory vote, going with my previously stated theory about nohika.
Mmk not totally sure I buy your lack of awareness there.

I have a couple of strong wolf marks for you balanced out by some weak village marks = you are confusing me right now. Pick one, please lol

Bull. I post early when I have a pre planned vote and you should also know that I've been planning to vote for him since before sign ups were ever even posted because you were there. I'm watching you for this move.
Oh good lord. I am putting this BS to bed for the sake of future games. Last three games I remember playing...

WildZoos WWildZoo - Posted early. First Lynch vote. Villager.
Little Mermaid - First post. First lynch vote. Wolf.
The WWatering Hole - First post. First lynch vote. Villager.

Yeah, you guys really got a good tell there. Super foolproof. 🙄

Yes, my "study size" is small, but Mermaid is definitely the game that is stuck in my head, and IIRC, before mermaid you said in sign ups who you would lynch first thing, and did. So yes, I knew you would be lynching VA ahead of time, but I knew that same thing in Mermaid. That said, your response has been larger than I expected so sketch points there. I am actually not 100% sold on that lynch and if it had bandwagoned, I probably would have wanted to get off the train. I was trying to do a thoughtful D1 lynch but figured I would have today's discussions if I wanted to change my mind.

awww this was my first real game. 😍

I agree I’m not a fan of Mel’s fast start. But I’m also not a fan of the increasing almost bandwagon going against him. So they’re just two things going in my spreadsheet. Good ‘ol day 1 lynches make me feel a certain way.

This confused me as I didn't feel like there was a bandwagon going on anyone yet. A two way tie with two votes on each after like only 10 people had voted seems like you are jumping the gun.

Was it one? I thought it was a couple. My bad. :arghh:

Wow okay, I need to not drink and WW.

Paws made the first real strategy lynch, (Finn posts early when wolf) which I’m not a fan of. Mel backed up/ supported the idea. Which I’m also not a fan of. But I’m not ready to hop on either side to say which one is wrong.

I also don't understand why you wouldn't be a fan of a strategy lynch. That being said, I don't feel like two wolves would go to bat for each other D1 over two votes, so will just watch this.

Guys... This SKETCHY barn on the side of the road told me to not forget to tell my friend about Rock City. Therefore, I'm here to tell you about Rock City. ^.^ This road trip is taking foreverrr.

What? No! Of course I like lynching strategically. I just think it’s crap/ poor playing to go “FINNICK IS POSTING EARLY. OBVIOUSLY A WOLF!”
I guess I wasn't intending it to be so forceful of a vote. I gave an early vote, and backed it with a thought. definitely did not have this "enthusiasm" behind it, so I'm not sure why you are mis-characterizing it to say in caps "obviously a wolf." maybe go read my lynch vote again

I'm trying to decide if the above are more "I'm answering this question because these noobs are still green and I want to help them" or "I'm answering this question because look everyone, I'm helping village"
Caught up on thread and this is what has stood out to me most. To me it was pretty obvious these were noob questions about game mechanics and to try and potentially throw shade on those that answered the questions rubbed me the wrong way.
