I agree with everything Hollista said. You might also want to do some research too. And with your vet experiences, make sure you vary them some. You might consider shadowing a vet that does other large animals than horses. I would also recommend doing something unrelated to animals like playing a sport or an instrument for a couple years - something that will make you look like a well-rounded, different student.
