so........when should we be gettin that email? or has anyone gotten it?

The last ones I got were-

11/20: 10:23am (Monday following 3rd thurs of the month)
12/18: 12:09pm (Monday following 2nd thurs of the month, third would have put it in XMas week)

so, the trend would say people should start getting e-mails Monday... Late morning/early afternoon, but it would be nice if we started hearing stuff today.

I got the e-mail.... 👎

Well I guess we'll have to wait it out 'till March.

I got my "better luck next month" e-mail yesterday... 👎

Good luck to everyone else this time around!! :luck:

As a previous applicant to Mizzou (x2) I just thought I'd clarify how the process will go from here on out for the other people reading this thread:

Reminder. There will be NO regular 3rd thursday admissions on Feb. This is to prep for March (below).

At the end of Feb, they'll meet. They generate their accepted students list, their wait list and their reject list. They review everybody they've interviewed so this takes them through the first week or so of March.

The past 2 years I got rejection e-mails on 3/1 and 3/2. So I would expect to hear something very early March.

Not to be contrary, but I thought I would just give some input on this. I just interviewed this week and on the paper they gave me, it said that the adcom meets every week (thursday nights I'll assume from reading everything else) and that they will announce decisions once a month.

I know it seems like they won't announce anything in February, but I think (hope) they may announce some acceptances in February because the sheet says that February decisions *might* (read: probably not) be announced, but won't necessarily happen. And, from reading the rest of this thread, maybe a few more people will get lucky and find out outside the normal cycle. Either way, I'm hoping tonights meeting will go well with respect to determining my score...

I believe that the meeting weekly concerns the weeks in which they interview only.

Thanks for all the info Depakote. I hope we all hear very good news soon...

Bumping this up. Anyone hear anything?

I think at this point we're all just waiting until the end of February, when we'll likely get our final decisions.

Good Luck everybody! Tonight is the last meeting and hopefully we will all get decisions by the end of next week. Am I right in assuming that rejections will come by emails just like after all the other meetings so no email come Monday/Tuesday next week is a good sign?

Rejections come by e-mail, finding out by monday/tues would be great... But I heard in Early March last year, so I wouldn't take silence as any sort of indicator until you hear that others have gotten the e-mail.

I hate waiting. If I don't get an email on monday or tuesday, I will be checking SDN like a madman to see if anyone else has gotten an email. With any luck though, nobody on SDN will be getting an email this year because we will all get in.

I like that thinking Green! 👍 😀

Looking at when other people have gotten emails, it's looking like if we don't hear something in the next hour or two, then we are safe for today. Who knows what tomorrow will bring though...

I know that rejection = e-mail and acceptance = mail. Does anyone know what form waitlist notification takes?

I was under the impression that waitlist = mail, but I could be wrong. Anybody else know for sure as I would be interested as well.

Apparently, email = acceptance too! Just got this 30 seconds ago!

Dear green453,

I am pleased to inform you that the Admissions Committee has recommended approval of your application to enter ourSchool of Medicine...

E-mails are going out today!

Hey, congrats! You think you're going to go? So apparently e-mail = bad no longer holds true in all cases. The bigger question is, if we haven't received an e-mail yet, is this bad news? In any event, congrats again!

I think there is a very good chance I will be going because:
a) I really like Mizzou a lot (PBL, small class, in state tuition, etc)
b) I haven't gotten in anywhere else yet

I don't think it is bad news if you haven't received an email yet. I would guess that it will take them a bit of time to email everyone. Additionally, it seems really strange that I got an email when most everybody else has been getting a hard copy of the acceptance. Mine says a hard copy will follow and that Judy Nolke will be getting in touch with me about how I have to hold my spot, etc. I thought it weird when I got the email that it didn't say anything about a deposit or any of the other nitty-gritty details. Basically, I wouldn't worry if you haven't gotten an email yet because it could be that they have to email lots of people and are doing it individually so it is taking them a long time, or they aren't emailing everybody they are accepting for some reason and snail mail is still coming.

Best of luck though. Even though I just started posting on SDN recently, I've been following all the threads about Mizzou for awhile and I hope that everybody who has been waiting to hear gets in!

Where else are you waiting to hear from?

Great... now I'm going to be checking my email every thirty seconds.

::barf::

I wonder what order they're sending out emails? If it's the order that people fall on the rank list, or alphabetical or what.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm surprised they're not just doing a mass e-mail for all three groups.

Where else are you waiting to hear from?

Penn (rejection, they just haven't emailed me yet)
UCLA (probably rejection, but they do offer interviews pretty late, so a little hope)
Stanford (same as UCLA)
KU (interviewed, waiting to hear back)

All in all, Mizzou seems pretty likely. It is cheaper (but still way too expensive for a state school) and that may make a fair bit of difference. Undergrad was expensive and saving some money might be a good option at this point. Plus, I think Mizzou might prepare me better for work with patients rather than research at UCLA or Stanford. So, I don't really know. If I get interview invites in California, I'll have to decide whether to go or not. If I get into KU, it will be a tough choice. I think KU might be a marginally better school and KC maybe a bit better than Columbia (arguable), but I am not entirely sure whether or not those arguments are worth $80k over four years.

As far as a mass emailing goes, that is how they should be doing it, but I'm not sure that it is how they are actually doing it. I suppose there is a possibility of doing it in order of rank on a list, but I have no idea where I would fall on that list so I can't give you guys any good indicators of where they might be at. I have decent stats, but somewhat less stellar EC's and clinical time (read: only a bit of shadowing, nothing extra). Hope that helps.

Just called the admissions office.

"Those decisions were made just recently, and you'll receive an email sometime this week."

Five days of waiting? 😱

I was told "within the week" via e-mail by Nolke. Let's hope it's less rather than more.

Sorry, I guess I shouldn't have opened my mouth and made you guys super anxious.

Best of luck though!

Rejected 3 Years in a Row!

Wait list email came about an hour ago. Wish everybody else luck.

I still haven't gotten anything. I'd think this is good, but then they've kind of changed up their system this time around, so I'm not going to count on anything.

Never mind ... I got waitlisted. What was everyone elses waitlist number? Im 26.

I'm in the 80's on the wait list, which is a nice way of saying, "Thanks for applying! We bought a really pretty office plant with your application money. Now go away."

I spoke with them this morning and they said last year they took up through the 60's and the year before that only through the 30's. Fingers crossed that they will start at the back of the list for variety this year.

I also recently talked with them, and they told me that historically, I should be accepted by mid-May. I was told it was a safe bet that they'll get through the 40's. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they get through the 80's, though.

Booh for that! I was really hoping you were going to get in! I won't lie, your posts have been some of the most informative regarding MU's process and I thought it only would have been fair if you got in. Are you IS or OOS?

kyley3k: I'm in state. That bad thing about MU is how much it cost even for Missouri natives. One of my good friends from undergrad is looking at his state school, and it $14k less per year than Mizzou. What's up with that? I guess it may work in favor of everybody on the waitlist though because the margin of benefit of going to MU as a state school versus another school is decreased when the price difference is smaller.

I got rejected from Mizzou (im in state) but have gotten into other much better schools...its such a screwed up process...i can't wait to be all over...:meanie:
