Where else are you waiting to hear from?
Penn (rejection, they just haven't emailed me yet)
UCLA (probably rejection, but they do offer interviews pretty late, so a little hope)
Stanford (same as UCLA)
KU (interviewed, waiting to hear back)
All in all, Mizzou seems pretty likely. It is cheaper (but still way too expensive for a state school) and that may make a fair bit of difference. Undergrad was expensive and saving some money might be a good option at this point. Plus, I think Mizzou might prepare me better for work with patients rather than research at UCLA or Stanford. So, I don't really know. If I get interview invites in California, I'll have to decide whether to go or not. If I get into KU, it will be a tough choice. I think KU might be a marginally better school and KC maybe a bit better than Columbia (arguable), but I am not entirely sure whether or not those arguments are worth $80k over four years.
As far as a mass emailing goes, that is how they
should be doing it, but I'm not sure that it is how they are actually doing it. I suppose there is a possibility of doing it in order of rank on a list, but I have no idea where I would fall on that list so I can't give you guys any good indicators of where they might be at. I have decent stats, but somewhat less stellar EC's and clinical time (read: only a bit of shadowing, nothing extra). Hope that helps.
