An op/ed by Dr. Feldman, Jefferson Medical College, FYI about what he thinks of HCR. For those of you uninitiated with what health care reform is, this might be a good place to start.

The website also says Dr. Feldman will be chatting up on Tuesday, as well, if you're interested.

Thanks for sharing! this guy totally expresses the way i feel about it all!:)

Thanx for that! Very good article, informative and concise. Lets you know what some of our future colleagues are thinking when it comes to this possible health care overhaul.

Excellent article.

Good read. I kind of wish he had some more suggestions about how to address the problems he's highlighting, but his point stands: Obama's "reform" is ignoring the real problems in the system.

I disagree with Dr. Feldman about preventive care, though. All of the top problems in American health are related to lifestyle choices. He makes a good point that preventive care often means BP/Cholesterol-lowering meds, but if the system can find ways to incentivize physical activity, healthy diet and smoking cessation, we're immediately looking at a drastic reduction in long-term costs. Easier said than done, obviously, but dismissing preventive care is a mistake, IMO.

Wonderful article. Thanks for that.

There's plenty of non-combat duties in the military.

In Israel everybody serves and they have never lost a war.

And a very interesting military history it is too.

GREAT article that should be mandatory reading of all applicants/students/legislators/Presidents of the US...

Good find.

Whoa back up, who says women can't have combat duties?

It's an antiquated thing that's covered in red tape. Women cannot serve in roles that are direct combat-related like Infantry. If you want to see how prevalent this is, view the MOS details for the following branches.

However, military MOS offerings are not on topic. Back to teh article!

*drives tank back to topic*

Anyways, depending on how things go, I might show up and ask some questions. And probably make a fool of myself.

Yeah, there's a lot of that in the military. "Don't ask, don't tell", anyone?

Let's not forget that the military can order you to live in a dirty hole for 12-15 months in 120 degree heat with no air conditioning or plumbing and surrounded by people who want to kill you, and you have no choice but to obey or face jail time or even execution. Meanwhile the people back home want to reduce your pay and forget that you are even there.
