+1 OOS II today, Oregon heritage/college though. Hearts out to those on hold <3 Good spot to be but the delay must be so frustrating.

I know this doesn't make the waiting any easier, but when I applied to OHSU years ago, I heard absolutely nothing until I got an interview invite in March, and then I was directly admitted without ever being on hold.

No news is just that when it comes to OHSU. It's just...no news. You're in the game until you're rejected, so just hang in there.

Thank you for this message!

Also, OHSU does not give early applications any additional points for interviewing earlier. One of the faculty who did my orientation said so explicitly. If you get an interview your odds are as good as anyone else even if they interviewed much earlier.

On hold… notified just now, interviewed 10/10. Does anyone know like approximately how many applicants are interviewed already?

Oregon heritage post-II hold! interviewed september 26th, very thankful to be still in the running this is my top choice!! <3

also to ask, is everyone placed on hold before april 30th or will they also reject people before then? i know the process is murky but if anyone has insight that would be great 🤍

Based on what I saw in last year's OHSU thread, they will also send out rejections before then. But I could be mistaken...

oh gotcha! did you see if they pulled people from hold pool to reject? i was about to go take a look at that! my LM isn’t the ~highest~ so still nervy

It didn't seem like it. It mostly seemed like if you went to the Hold Pool and didn't come out on April 30 you went to the waitlist. I saw a fair amount of pre-interview invite rejections. And I think some post interview rejections... I know there are some current students who contribute here who might have better answers though.

My LM score is 62 and I just got accepted, they look at more than your stats :)

Congrats to all who hot accepted. My interview is coming up very soon and I started to panic. How did you all prepare? How was the MMI? How much time do we have to answer each question on one-on-one? I know I need 2,3 minutes per each

There are second look days where accepted students tour campus and meet with current students. Great opportunity to ask questions, meet folks and see the school. I enjoyed it. You'll get emails about it

Interviewed this year and last year, didn’t get an A, a hold, or an R, until 12 weeks after my Interview date. Just gonna assume I got another R this year tbh cause it’s been 8 weeks and I’ve heard nothing. Congrats to everyone who got in, and good luck to all who are interviewing, hope you make it ♥️

Anyone submitted their secondary around mid September and has heard (or not heard) from them?

Do you mean, last year after 12 weeks you first the first update which was an R?

In our one-on-one interview how much time do we have to answe each question? It shows the interview is 30 minutes but I read for some people it took an hour and a half. What is the time limit per question?

There isn't a time limit for each question they have for you, I felt like it was more similar to a conversation

the interview "slot" is 1.5 hours, but that's because there are 3 30-min interviews during that time. the invite should say what time you should get into the webex for your 30 min chat!

For those who have interviewed, wasn’t there an information packet about the school in our portal after we completed the interview? Or maybe it was an email? I think I’m going crazy because I wanted to review it but now I cant find it

I think it was actually in there prior to the interview so that we could review it before. Does anyone have a copy of it?

For those who have been accepted, did you get the acceptance email first? Or an email about a notification in your portal?

An email about a notification in the portal, then the acceptance email came maybe a minute or two after

Are you talking about the attachments that were included in II?
If yes, they were all about diversity and inclusion and some insights into OHSU’s mission on other areas.

Ok so I learned that there are three 30mins interviews with no strict time limitations. However, can someone kindly please share whether the questions are more about personal stuff or intricate literature, humanity cases? I saw some very odd instances in previous years and being a second language speaker, started to panic about gathering my thoughts as I tend to ramble🤦🏻‍♀️

I think you may be a bit confused, you are not doing 3 30 minute interviews. that just means 3 candidates will be interviewed in that timeframe one after another. As for interview questions, no one is going to be able to share specifics with you. Every school is very explicit that discussing interview questions is prohibited.

As another user said above, it is very conversational, you will be able to direct the flow of the conversation as you wish based on how you answer. I don't think there is a "right way" to answer anything. The most I can offer without violating policy about sharing questions is that my 1:1 questions were primarily centered around exploring what I described in my primary application in more detail. That being said anything is fair game and this is also likely dependent on who interviews you.

I am a rambler myself, just periodically check yourself by looping you interviewer back in. Ask them if they want you to elaborate on any specific point after talking for some time. At least that is how I try and do it.

All the faculty I interacted with were very kind and relaxing, try not to stress too hard.

I appreciate your clarification it was a lot of help to be able to picture that day ahead. Thank you

What interview dates are available for those who recently received their II?

Has anyone heard back from the MD/PhD program? I interviewed late September/early October.

if you were to get a scholarship, would it have been included in the offer letter for your acceptance, or it would be something separate?

i heard back recently about an acceptance, but interviewed at the end of October! they did say though that they offer spots all throughout the cycle so no news is just no news, not bad news! They offer acceptances in order of how they rank people after interviews from my understanding and they group MD/PhD with all the MD only people so if there's MD only people ranked above you from their interview scores or however they do it, they might just offer those people spots first. Idk that was my understanding of their interview/acceptance process — someone correct me if I'm wrong. Basically don't worry yet!

It unfortunately varies. Scholarship offer timing can vary from time of acceptance to several months later depending on the scholarship. Also just a caution to all, scholarships tend to be less common in the GME world as compared to undergrad.

42 offers made as of today.

FWIW, during my cycle, I was in the group interviewed first (late August). I was put on hold from Thanksgiving and got accepted May 10ish. Long wait.

HANG. IN. THERE.

How do you know how many acceptances have been made? Can I find that info online? And thanks for the info

Hi. I saw last cycle OHSU accepted 230 students while their class ended up being 150. What happened to the other 80 ? Are those the ones who turned the acceptance down?

Indeed. Usually med schools accept about 1.5-2x the amount of seats for the entering class because some students turn them down. Students have their preferences too
