2024-2025 Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you are invited for an interview, there's a high chance you will get in. I read from admission data that about half of students interviewed will be offered an admission. My student mentor was interviewed in December and got acceptance in January.
Early decision is actually a brand new thing. Pretty sure this is the first year they're doing it. It's not normal for us to have heard back this early. I bet you could find this same sort of thread for last year and the year before, and I'll bet you most who got As or were taken off the waitlist (which is way more common for this school due to military reasons) weren't notified until well into the following year, often not until May. You're in a good spot if you have an interview. It's tough waiting, but you've got a great shot.
Thanks guys. i am very hopeful for next year. Going for Navy!

You already have a mentor!?
I don't know the exact name of the thing but I remember I had to fill out a Google form with my contact information so i would be me paired with a second year student as a mentor(?) to answer questions. But this was before the interview.

I didn't realize they were reaching out so early...I haven't heard from mine yet.

Conditional acceptance to the Navy. Super excited. I'm really looking forward to class next year, everyone.

For those who interviewed and heard back already, how long did it take to get a decision?

For those who haven’t received interview invites or heard back about your admissions—keep in the fight. The admissions cycle is a marathon that goes till the end of June.

It ain’t over till then.

If any of you want to chat/vent/decompress: message me.

Anyone in the Philly or surrounding area interested in meeting up? Id love to chat and meet before we are (hopefully) classmates next year.

When did yall's interviewers reach out? It's officially my interview week and its been crickets over here...

I’d hit up your counselor. The interviewers technically have until the Thursday of your interview week to reach out, but I’d let them know you still haven’t heard anything back yet.

For reference, I was an EDP applicant and I heard from my interviewers the business day after I got my interview invite.

hey y'all, might be a silly question but what do you put for service on the Confirm your Profile page before scheduling your physical exam if you don't know what branch? do you just put other?

I had one interviewer reach out the week before. The other interviewer did not, and I had to message my counselor. If you do reach out to your counselor before Thursday, they will most likely tell you to wait until Thursday at 1 PM EST.

Today is another big day.

Hit me up if you need the GroupMe link.

Congrats to all the future doctors joining the USUHS School of Medicine Class of 2029!!!!

Just completed my interviews last Thursday and had a great experience, I saw the timeline to hear back is now 8-10 weeks. Last year's forum showed people getting decisions back around Thanksgiving for those who interviewed in October so I am hoping that happens again this year.

Hey wondering if anyone has any insight about this. I’m an applicant who didn’t get a medical waiver in time last cycle. I got my waiver in August and interview end of September. I just received noticed I was waitlisted for Air Force. Honestly that’s great news and I’m excited for the potential, BUT I’m curious how the Air Force class could be full already? It feels so early, even though their explanation of a waitlist position says you’re recommended for a position but the class/branch of preference is full. I’m not sure I applied ED, I followed that timeline and had everything ready to go super quickly. I was also waitlisted last year which I was hoping was only a result of not having my medical waiver yet.

Anyway, just curious if the class could really be full so early

The class isn’t full per se. USUHS is only able to send out a maximum number of conditional acceptances to match the total number of seats they have for the class of 2029.

This is due to the cap on funding USUHS receives for their total number of seats. They cannot go over budget or make accommodations. Being a government funded entity keeps their rolling admissions process a little bit different from other schools.

Until these students that have the acceptances in hand make a final decision (to decline or they are disqualified from their conditional acceptance due to medical, sercurity, or any other disqualifying conditions) that more will be sent out and more students will move off the waitlist and receive acceptances.

In short, you’ll be fine. As others have reiterated the waitlist moves super fast and roughly 50% of the matriculating students come off of it.

They said in my communication they are doing interviews through January likely for last minute spots, so they are quite conservative with the process as stated above.

Is it a good sign that I got a “USUHS Student Contact” email? It’s from an M[emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]

Did you interview yet?

Kinda, I only finished one interview, waiting on my other interviewer to reach out - this week is my interview week.

it doesn’t really mean anything in terms of your application, but it is a good thing to have your student contact be someone who is proactive in their correspondence with you— which it appears they are being.

To anyone going Navy...I was enlisted for 8 years as a nuclear mechanic, stationed all over the country. While I can't give specific answers to life as a doc at sea, I'm happy to answer general Navy Q's in PMs if you guys have any.

Is there a limit to hold an unconditional acceptance before it is automatically withdrawn?

As the interview guideline states— you have until April 15th to narrow your choices to no more than 3 schools. Then, by April 30th, you must decided whether to commit to USU and withdraw all other applications.

I have Navy as my top choice, and I think I might hear back in the next week or 2 so I will let you know if I am waitlisted.

To be honest I can’t really tell because I know someone who interviewed in November and went right in around January

sounds like waitlists and acceptances are sent out all year then, time for an emotional roller coaster

Ill be in bethesda for a campus tour on the 21st. I'm driving a few hours so Ill probably be around the area on the 20th if anyone wants to meet up!
