Hello!
I'm a premed (sophomore) set on being a doctor (not a psychologist). When thinking about specialties, my primary interests would be either IM or psych. In terms of research, I currently do lab work in a basic science/translational psych research lab, and am leaning towards ultimately...
I'm looking to apply to schools this cycle with great psychiatry curriculum. Does anyone know where I could find either a list of schools offering residencies in psychiatry, or ones that educate significant numbers of psychiatrists?
I currently go to a community college and I will be earning an associates of arts and then transfering to a local four year university and majoring in Psychology. I would like to get my Ph.D. in clinical psychology right after I earn my bachelors degree. Another four year university an hour away...

What's the difference between a conversion disorder and dissociative disorder? All my Google research has said they're pretty much the same thing but one of the questions on the AAMC Practice Test 2 has a question about them with both conversion and dissociative disorders as separate answers.
I was doing TPR review, but this question really confused me.
Suppose that when an individual behaves in a negative way, she tends to blame the situation for her negative behavior, and not her personality. What error is this person committing?

Really stuck between psych and em. I absolutely love shift work and if I end up going with psych I'd love to find shift work. Doing 12s or 24s to maximize the number of total days off each month is my goal as I've got a pretty serious side hobby/job.
The high hourly rate in em makes less hours...
Anyone familiar with any Facebook Groups for psychologists? Any good ones? Here's a couple I've found

Hi there,
I have shown my Dad a few threads on here and articles on other sites regarding a major and pre-med reqs. All in all, I know your major does not matter: your MCAT and GPA do. If I don't get into med school, my backup would be to be a PA or Physical Therapist. Because all of these...

Hi. I'm currently attending a CD to obtain my associate of arts. I'm planning on transfering once I get my AS and go on to get my Bachelor's in Psychology. I found out that I qualify for an Independent Study/Research in Psychology but I'm having trouble thinking of ideas. I still have to get a...
I don't see psychology come up much on hSDN but there are some high school folks who make their way over to the psychology forum periodically so thought I'd offer a thread for folks who might be interested in becoming a psychologist since the process is rather different than med school. I'm a...
I am very excited to announce that I was accepted to medical school after I was waitlisted and convinced I wouldn't get in. However, as one does when they are unsure of their future, I had to find alternative plans and just started a job in the mental health field. I am conflicted between...
Hello everyone. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a 2.9 GPA in December of 2016. I have been working at a hospital in the Med Center for three years as a Health Unit Coordinator and also as a pysch patient sitter. I know I want to go to grad school but I am not sure what...
Hello,
I am looking for a journal that accepts case studies/ has accepted papers with small sample sizes (think under 10). Impact factor isn't a huge concern, but data looks great and it would be great to get it out there. If you know of any such journals please let me know asap!!!
:) Thanks

Good morning all. My first post on here, and let me preface that with my painstaking review of current posts to find an answer to my question. I'm in need of some advice as I apply to various Doctorate in Psychology Programs.
I'm in my early 40s, have a MBA and decent GPA in both undergrad...
US-Allo senior applied to Psych, but didn't match. SOAP'ed into FM to have a job but still really want psych. Applied t0 40 programs, 5 invites, all ranked. Steps: 219/246/P. Red flag: Repeat MS-3 b/c clerkship failures, dx and treated for depression. Explained in PS. Genuinely became interested...
Hello! I need some help!
I know what I want to do (I have since high school), I want to work in a psychiatric unit and help others, I want to be able to talk with them, help them with their progress, be a part in planning their treatment, and (if need be) be able to prescribe medication. This...
Hello,
I am nearing the end of my 3rd year in a Clinical PsyD program. Next year will be my last year of classes and my advanced therapy practicum before going on to internship. My school also requires us to defend our dissertation before going on to internship 5th year.
My husband and I...
Recently accepted premed who's starting med school in August. I have been reading the book "Anatomy of an Epidemic" by Robert Whittaker. When I first started reading the book, I almost stopped because his attitude seemed so flippant/glib. Eventually though, I found myself questioning my long...
One of my colleagues had a problem with trying to find therapy office space to rent part time for their practice. Not sure if anyone else is facing this problem.
Here are some of the resources I found on the web that advertise mental health therapy or psychotherapy office space to rent.

The person in this situation had a 2.3 overall GPA at their first University. They transferred and finished with a 3.6 GPA at their new University as a Psych major (undergrad). There is a lot of power to their story. At their previous school this person struggled with opiate addiction. This...
I'm a pharmacy student starting APPE rotations in January. I currently work as an intern in a large pharmacy chain, but I'm considering a residency (PGY1 and PGY2 potentially). In terms of clinical specialties, I'm most interested in psychiatric pharmacy. I just don't know what I want to do for...
I am a current grad student in a clinical/applied California MA Program in Counseling Psych with the primarily training students for MFT/LPCC licensure. I am at the end of my program and I am currently in practicum obtaining my hours in order to graduate. I had always been interested in doing...
I need to choose a major asap since I will just end up lasting more than four years in undergrad if i don't choose now. I am choosing between bio and psych. The main issue is that I am contemplating doing a bio major because: i can take the prerequisites for both pre-med and physician assistant...

I know this topic has been posted ad infinitum in these forums, and so much advice has been given. I've used the search function but something is still eating at me to the point where I'm now posting instead of lurking. I love psychology. Ever since I took AP psych in high school i've fell in...

Hi everyone. I've recently decided to change my long term plans and have decided that nursing is a good fit for me, with CRNA certification being a further goal.
My questions:
- After getting my bachelors degree, I plan on enrolling in an accelerated BSN program. What does this provide me in...
Hi everyone!
This thread might sound a bit redundant or even a bit mislead, but I am trying to work out my pre-reqs so I can officially declare myself pre-med, but my school is coming down hard on me to declare my major. So here's my situation.
I love psychology. I'm fascinated by the way the...

Hi,

I'm looking to relocate to the East Coast from a strong EM program in Michigan. My ideal would be a different EM program but I'd consider psych or IM. I'm headed into PGY 2 but would repeat PGY 1 if need be. I'm in good standing...
