The class has to be >70% in state and possibly even greater this year (a rumor I heard). I am shocked that more IS haven't heard yet. But this may have to do with the first interview days being loaded with IS and how they are sort of going with reverse order? I don't know, I'm hypothesizing. But not admitting overwhelming IS actually is decreasing my current stress level (which is at crazed right now).

I don't know about the IS/OOS thing, but I did hear about the need to have some sort of property in passing.

I think we could sit here and ponder this for a long time and get nowhere, unless someone's got the guts to just call and ask. My guess, although not really convenient to my self-confidence or optimism, is that we just didn't make that top 20-30 people that they accept every week. Honestly, only about a half dozen people on SDN have even reported hearing from Baylor, and the fact that they are mostly OOS might just be coincidence or might be a representation of the number of OOSers vs ISers on the forums.

^ note that in order to become a true texan, you must incorporate "yall" and the super plural "all'y'all" into your vocabulary. rolls of the tongue very nicely, and hell if i heard you talking like that i'd grant your residency right away.

You could ask a friend to call for you -- someone who ISN'T applying to Baylor, obviously.

EDIT: Y'all could ask a friend to call for all y'all -- someone who isn't applying to Baylor, obviously.

^Fixed.

Fabulous... I think I might have someone do this tomorrow. Or that just might be my neuroticism sneaking out of hiding.

Oh and I met someone recently who was offered a full scholarship and accepted to Baylor in December, and she interviewed in September of last year. So not getting the first calls doesn't mean that much, it's rather random.
The only reason I'm stressing is that I just want an acceptance from somewhere...

I'm in-state (interviewed on 10/3) and got the acceptance call last week, as did one of my classmates who is also in-state (interviewed 9/5). Another of my classmates who is also in-state (interviewed on 9/5) got the acceptance call this week. Reverse order calling, dart throwing..draw whatever conclusion lets you sleep at night.

I think I'm going to go with dart throwing!

i can commiserate on wanting to get in somewhere... most of the schools i've interviewed at have been tmdsas so the wait continues till november.

Has Baylor been sending out any interview invites lately? When do those usually go out?

i'm hoping for an interview invite too, but my online status recently changed from "the committee is reviewing your application" to "has reviewed," so maybe that's a good sign? can anyone who's had an interview invite shed some light on this?

^It means exactly what it says. Your file's been reviewed. It doesn't necessarily correlate with an interview (in the immediate future or otherwise). Some people have had that status for a while with no interview invitation, while others have had the status change and have gotten interviews. I think mine was like that for about a month before I got an invitation.

Mine has had the your app. has been reviewed by the committee and we will let you know something as soon as we are able thing for well over a month...🙁

So after speaking with one of the Baylor admissions people this summer, I was told that once your application is reviewed, you get ranked on a list along with all the other applicants. A reviewer who is blind to your GPA and MCAT gives a score for the rest of your application (activities, PS, letters of rec, etc) and this is score is then combined with some weighted sum of your GPA and MCAT to give a total score. Every week or so, they pull the top group of students on that list (those with the highest scores) and invite them for an interview. They keep doing this until they've offered all their interview invites. So if your application "has been reviewed" it probably just means that you're ranked somewhere in the middle and that your name hasn't gotten to the very top just yet.

Mine said that for a little less than a week before I got an invite. I would guess it means they've put you on a ranked list and they invite people periodically from the list.

When did you submit your secondary and get the invite?

SS: 7/8, II:8/22, I: 9/19 moved it to 10/3

My application was "Complete" though about a week before I got the invite.

Just got a call from Dr. Greenberg! I'm in!

^I did think it odd that they would make phone calls twice in one week. Seems like the pace is about once a week, early in the week.

Yeah, it sounds logical that it would be once a week. Although I don't know if one week's worth of acceptances this cycle is enough to establish a trend. 😉

Maybe Gecko was out on Tuesday night. The only reason they called my parents is because I left my mom as my alternate contact.

I was surprised when I got the call, wasn't expecting it on a Friday afternoon. Anyway, they called my cell, which was listed as my primary. I didn't get any missed calls that I know of, or voicemails, and my caller ID at home (secondary number) didn't list anything from baylor at all.

Considering that people are getting calls from different faculty members at BCM, I think there might not be as much consistency in the phone calls as everyone expected.

Yeah, go figure. Let's see...calls went out Wednesday night (??), Tuesday night, and Friday afternoon if I'm not mistaken. I guess the moral of the story is "be prepared."

ah ok...thanks for the info 🙂
hopefully all of us who are waiting with that vague status won't have to stress about it for too much longer! good luck everyone :luck:

I am finally no longer under review by Baylor, but I have this message:

Your application is complete and has been reviewed by the committee.
We will let you know something as soon as we are able.

Baylor College of Medicine interviews from September through February.
You are eligible for interview consideration through February.
Records are updated every 24 hours.

Does this mean hold?

Not exactly...at least I don't think so. Haha, I still have that message and I got accepted 😛.

I found out about an interview a couple of weeks after getting that message if that's any help...

It means something may be coming soon... or maybe not. Some people I know got an interview 5 days after seeing my status change to that; others on this thread have waited with that status for over a month and have yet to hear anything. It simply means that your file has been reviewed and assigned some score and that you are now in the pool of those eligible to receive an interview from here on out; it neither guarantees nor rules you out.

I just got the call from Dr. Greenberg - I'm in 🙂
If you want to know, I submitted mid-June, interviewed 9/5, and got the call today at 3:30pm (Central).
Good luck to everyone!

I'm IN! - I got the call from Dr. Greenberg around 3:40PM today!!!! I love you Baylor!!!

Just like abcd3fg, I submitted mid-June and interviewed 9/5.

Best of luck to everyone waiting....and I can't wait to meet my future classmates at Baylor!

Congrats to those of you who just got accepted!

Congrats emewe! When did you turn in your secondary and when was your application complete?

Hmm, seems like the last batch of acceptances went out to people who interviewed on 10/3. This most recent batch seems to be applicants who interviewed on 9/5. I wonder, if you're not accepted right away, how long is it until they re-review you? (I interviewed on 10/3 🙁 )

I think Baylor said that they're constantly reviewing and re-reviewing applications, so every time the committee meets, they will look at your app.

The committee must meet very frequently or something. They've sent out at least 3 sets of calls since October 15th .

EDIT: To those of you accepted, are you Texas residents or OOSers?

I'm not emewe but I received an interview invite today as well.
Submitted July 29, complete August 11, interview invite October 28.

Just for clarification, are you saying you submitted your secondary on 7/29 and were finished being reviewed on 8/11?

i'm in state. i submitted my secondary sept 20, was complete sept 29, and i noticed that the committee had finished reviewing my app about a week ago via the status check website 🙂

They told us at the interview that the adcom meets every two weeks to choose the next group to be accepted, but they seem to be meeting more often than that.

No complaints here.

I interviewed on 10/3 as well, so hopefully they will make another batch of calls soon.

👍Wow...

I just got an email invite from baylor..
am.. so.. excited...

However, I read someone talked about the admission committee already had our scores (mcat, gpa, ecs, and LORs) for the interview invitation...

Does that mean that they also assign scores after the interview and combine all the scores to give out acceptances?

Or do they base their acceptance decisions sorely on interview performances...

I wonder if anyone would know about this...

Thanks,

Since it seemed that some people who interviewed on 10/3 heard on the 16 (less than 2 weeks after the interview... though now that he's banned and seeing as someone called and heard the admissions office hadn't accepted anyone yet that first week, I wonder if that JJAbrams guy was for real or not), here's hoping for some good news this week or next week for the 10/24 interview crowd! :luck::luck::luck:

Hmmm, wasn't that JJ guy the one that said Texas schools gave him pre-match offers like a month before the pre-match period began...?

I'm tracking the Texans game on ESPN.com and wondering

Why no love, Baylor?!! I'm IS and an H-town native. I'm going home for the holidays and would love to visit y'all too!

Puhleeeeeaze?!!

Good point. Oh well, boo... I guess those of us in the 10/24 batch will probably have another week before we can even get our hopes up. I'm also crossing my fingers for some love from my other schools on 11/15...

If you haven't heard in the next week or two, why not send them an email saying, "hey, just letting you know I'll be in the Houston area from X date- Y date and would still be extremely interested in interviewing for your school." I've heard that sometimes that little nudge can actually get you an interview (though that's rare, obviously).

Oh good advice. I have been trying to remain calm and be (relatively) patient, but it sure would save me some money if I could nudge them a bit.

Couldn't hurt, right? I generally fall in the camp of waiting it out and staying patient while the school gets back to you, but I don't think contacting the schools once every now and then is excessive, and especially not if you have excellent reason like you do!
