Ughhh, it's such a bummer 🙁 No, I wasn't sent that letter. But Dana told me I was in the high hold group. If I remember correctly, you wrote that you got that letter, so if you didn't get that rejection a few minutes ago, you still have a shot at an acceptance.

I'm sorry about the rejection. I know those hurt a lot. Even now, I kind of give the finger to the schools that rejected me even though I know it wasn't really personal.

We have a few people in our class that were 3 time applicants, so never give up hope.

Well I wish there was more I could say except that I am sorry... I wish you the best though. I ALWAYS tell myself, "everything happens for a reason", so as long as you remember that, someday we will all look back and hopefully be where we belong! (I try to keep reminding myself everyday) Do you have any back up or alternative schools?
 
I'm sorry,too. I know its tough, but I agree with axel. There are many situations in my life that I wanted to go a different way, but I feel very fortunate that things have worked out the way God has planned for me. Keep your head up and keep plugging away, and everything will work out alrigtht!
 
Thanks guys for all of the encouragement. I'm not really sad, I'm more angry. It's like MossPoh said, I kinda feel like giving the school the finger because so much money, time, and effort is exhausted on this process. Being a reapplicant and getting another rejection really makes one feel like a failure. And then I know of people who lie in their applications about their shadowing and volunteering. I don't get why they are accepted and that's fueling my anger. But it's ok 🙂

Sorry to hear about your rejection. I definitely feel you about the anger. I hope that your wait list at the other school turns into an acceptance for you. 🙂

There hasn't been much activity on the FSU thread recently....? I haaaate that its coming this close to the start of classes! 5 days! I don't even know what to think at this point... :xf: I have been trying to just enjoy my time off, but can't help but jump to my phone everytime I receive an email!! Have there not been any acceptances/withdrawls in the last few days?

if they call you monday, are you going to come to orientation Tuesday?
 
A year ago almost exactly I was in the same position. Every 850 number got my heart racing and then it'd be for the dentist or something.

Try not to think about it. It is impossible I know, but just try. 😉

and yes, this thread is dying down. Makes me kind of sad. Guess I need to move over to the 2010-2011 one soon.

Unfortunately... I have been accepted to one other medical school, and I am waitlisted at another, yet it has been my DREAM for YEARS to attend FSU medical school. Well, since they opened haha. I just have such strong ties to Tallahassee and the University... I would drop everything Monday morning if it came down to it. I sure hope it does.

Thank you MossPoh and Sillyshoes for your encouragement. I am prepared to pick up and leave if thats what I have to do, I just pray I am given the opportunity.

Is anyone else left in this SDN forum in my position??

Hey Axel86...yes...at least ONE more person is in the same position..me. Unfortunately, I have not been accepted to another school so this is it for me. I am waitlisted at another school, but it is pretty competitive so I am not too sure what to expect...and I would prefer FSU for sure. Definitely stressful. I was also sent the "high hold" email (unsolicited), so I think I just got my hopes up too much. I am still holding out for Monday and hoping that maybe something happens. But I am also trying to be realistic. I know it's hard waiting...trust me. Good luck to you!

i'm pretty sure they're sending out a batch of rejections today.
just got mine today which really sucks. i was on high hold after my interview also.
 
I'm sorry for the rejections. It sucks. You guys had the misfortune of applying in a year where nobody seemed to turn down seats. While it makes me happy that people are excited to come, I consider you SDN people my little ducklings and would rather have you here. 😉
 
Rejected today. I emailed Dana for my status a ferw weeks ago and she said high hold (not the unsolicited one)...so sad 🙁

I'm sorry to those of you who got the denial letter 🙁... Best of luck with all of your dreams! This is my second time applying, so I have been there.

Sablemagus, I did not receive a letter yesterday either... so still no good or bad news. It's really coming down to the wire!!! Gator8, did you also make it through the day? I feel like its "survivor"... surviving rounds of denial, neverrr thought it would come down to this. :xf:

MossPoh-- when did your friend get accepted during orientation week? After the first day? Does this happen because people just dont show up for orientation, or how would that happen?

Yes...I made it through the day...or "survived." I don't really know what will happen though between now and Tuesday. I also don't understand how someone could just not show up to orientation...and even if that happens that just leaves maybe one or 2 spots. Good luck axel86 and sablemagus. I have my fingers crossed that something happens...hopefully for all of us.
 
We had one girl that is now in the class of 2014 who held off a year for family reasons. I think there was another person that left as well. The person that was accepted during the week got called on like a Thursday and threw all her crap in her car and came that day. I've heard of people getting called off waitlists at other schools and leaving a week or two into the semester at FSU, but I've just heard. I don't know anyone that has done it. They don't call people for those slots I don't think.
 
Hey Guys! I just wanted to let you know that I withdrew my acceptance today.... so I hope one of you get it! Also, if you need to find housing, I'm trying to get out of a sublease so feel free to contact me.
 
Im withdrawing my acceptance as well... good luck everybody. After wanting to be a doctor my entire life I found another passion playing poker right before I started college and am deciding to turn pro. I wanted to keep all doors open so I got my bachelor's degree even though I made over half a million playing part time while in school. Then I decided to go to med school and have poker as a side-income but I decided both are too time consuming to not butt heads. I chose poker. Funny how life changes!
 
Anyone else offered last minute acceptance over the weekend??

Hey aajacobs... ya, I meant "anyone else" as in besides those who already posted, haha. I haven't heard anything either... seems there is still a decent number of us left on the list!!! Hoping for a miracle in these last few days! Good luck to you too! :luck:

I haven't heard anything yet, either -- good or bad. Does anyone know how orientation works? I'm hoping that it's mandatory and that if anyone doesn't show up tomorrow (without a really good excuse), their seats get vacated and then us wait-listers still left can move into them. But that may just be wishful thinking... Anyone know for sure?

Looks like 2 spots are open (at least from what I saw posted over the weekend) unless they have been filled already 😕 Who knows?! I am hoping that some of us get those spots. Good luck to everyone!! =)

I'm transitioning over to the 2010-2011 thread, so if you need to ask me anything then contact me over there (or pm of course). I have no clue if they are still offering spots. I did see everyone all dressed up for first day of orientation.

Nothing here. It seems that (from my observations of posts here, at least) that they send the emails with acceptance offers first thing in the morning, but send the rejections later in the afternoon. So for those seats that opened up over the weekend, people still on the wait list will probably (if I'm correct) hear something first thing tomorrow morning. Hopefully two of us will get those two seats (or more!) that opened up over the weekend. :xf:

My thoughts exactly. I can't help but wonder though, for the 5 of us that are left, how many are left that don't come onto SDN. Hopefully those spots are open and will still be offered today/tomorrow. :xf:

I am soooo wishing I was there right now. Not to mention... since I was told I would most likely be accepted back in Feb, its NOT been fun explaining to friends and family why I am still sitting around and school started!! Ahh

Don't mean to butt into your thread, but I'm pulling for you all on the waitlist. I loved FSU, but it wasn't doable for my spouse. Anyway, I don't know if you did this, but at this point, I think I would write Dana and let her know that you are willing to throw your stuff in the car and come at the very last minute if the opportunity presents itself. You don't have much to lose. Good luck!

Got mine as well, at 2:02pm today. :-(

Got an acceptance to St. George's University a few weeks ago, so looks I'm headed there... FSU was my top choice even before I began the whole application process. *sigh*

Thanks! While I'm bummed about not getting into FSU, in a way I'm relieved, because at least now I know where I'm going and I can plan accordingly. 🙂

Did any of you check your status at med.fsu.edu? Mine still says "HOLD", so I have been assuming I am still on hold. Did any of yalls change when you were sent the denial letter?

Hi axel, my status has not changed either..it still says "hold." But I don't know if I got an official "rejection letter." I say this because I went ahead and called FSU COM on Tuesday morning and Dana ended up sending me an email later (she wasn't available when I called) and said she "did not think FSU would be able to offer me a spot." But that is the only correspondance with FSU that I have had in regard to my "status." So...who knows. At this point....I think it's a done deal.
