Okay so I got the same email I received last week about being out of committee, Howards email systems seems to like resending things 2X to be twice as sure lol.???😀
 
Hey guys I was just letting you know that I got the out of committee letter just now, so I will know by the 15th also.

yay! good luck... My orthro surprised me and took my braces off this past saturday finally! This has to be a sign that good things are to come!😀
 
Howard finally let me kno that they have my application! Thank you Jesus...now I can stop worrying about it getting lost in the mail.

This is off topic...but I want to say I love the Howard thread. Very rarely do we argue or send out negative comments to each other. The probability of me attending here is low but I have so much love for the school the current students that i met, the people on this thread, and the people I met on the interview. I still keep in touch with one of them. I have love for you'll and I hope to still keep in touch over the years. I have to make it down to a homecoming one day. I wish everyone well. okay time to wipe the tears away. It is 82 degree now I am leaving work and taking the baby to a south beach restaurant.😍😍😍😍

what proportion of the class is generally not URM or disadvantaged (but still focussed on serving the underserved)?

i would really love to go here
but im wondering how the committee will view my application.

I don't know the percentage that is not disadvantaged but 40% of last year's class was not URM.

The committee is looking for students that will share in their mission. I think its more about your reasons for becoming a doctor than your ethnicity or socio economic standing.

Also, you should not worry. It is still somewhat early in the interview cycle and there are a couple more months of interviews to dish out. The admissions office lost some staff to retirement and they are somewhat short staffed so it will take some time but be patient...this whole process is just a waiting game with a few shots to prove yourself thrown in there (AMCAS app, secondary and interview). i was really counting on howard, i sent my application two days after it came out and haven't heard anything after being complete 🙁

same, I even overnighted the secondary to make sure it was one of the first :/
 
Its still early for you guys that have not heard anything, howard interviews I think all the way up to March or April. Look at the 2008 2009 thread, people found themselves in the same situation and eventually got accepted.
 
Yeah u have a chance bc it is early and dont 4get there r people that get accepted but dont go

I'm right there with both of yall (well, I didn't overnight, but I submitted like day 2). Nothing to do but sit and wait and keep yourselves occupied with something else that you actually have control over (i.e. classes, work, exercise, etc). Our time will come. I still have faith.

I hear you and I try to remind myself of this. But, I don't really know how to process this. (throwing out a hypothetical) Say I received one of the later interviews in Spring (i.e. April) and it takes 6-8 weeks for them to notify interviewees of acceptances (using this timeframe from other schools). Wouldn't that put me beyond the May 15th decision deadline? Or at least cuts it really close? A situation I'd personally rather avoid. Here's hoping for a pre-New Year's interview invite :xf:
 
No as the cycle comes to an end the turnover is faster now bn waitlisted means u can get accepted at the last minute
 
i think that this thread is exemplary of the people that Howard attracts; this is one of the reasons that i want to go to this school. it's nice being around people who build you up with faith and sincerity. 🙂

and for everyone waiting to hear back, remember to praise God for where you are now. remember that song? "Praise is What I Do" mm powerful

So, generally how long after your actual interview date did everyone get their out if committee notice? I interviewed on the 27th.

Also, I agree about the love on this thread 🙂

if I get accepted to Howard, I will definitely go there.

Faith, why do you say the chances of you going to Howard are low?

10/23. I had to call for them to let me kno anything tho. The lady said that my app was n her hands right wen I called. She sent the email when we hung up. So, I would give them a call if I were u.

Just thinking about it makes me sad. I love Howard I had the pleasure of having my interview inside the hospital while walking in there looking at the pt I knew that it reminded me of Kings County in BK, and why I want to serve the underserved. I could see me there esp. since they have a level 1 trauma center and my interest is ER. Seeing so many of my people attending school trying to be dr's lawyers pharmD etc made me excited. going to UCF will allow me to make history the secnd class at a new school, the way the prgram is set up, the small class size, the cheapness and cleanliness of Orlando, the weather. At UCF I am apart of the first class to enter a brand new state of the art building. I am allowed to design my own research project doing anything I want and follow it through for 4 years. I will be able to guide the next years class because they will be looking up to us ( the second year class). we start studying for our boards as soon as we start school. They are building what they call a medical city which is a city centered on state of the art research, and patient care. We are also likely to get 3/4 scholarship for tuition.

I am so emotional on this topic but this is to answer your question. 😍😍😍😍

Well I came out of committee a little over 3 weeks from my interview.
 
Okay for people waiting for the 15th, I went back to the 2008-2009 thread and found people received their letter on the 13th! Also, I found that most of them had received and email stating that they could call for the decision as well. God I wish we had that luxury, I don't know about yall, but I have been going through the motions at work! Nothing matters to me at the moment, the only thing that does matter is what howard has to say. It's crazy I work in a hospital so, I am constantly reminded "this is it". All I'm asking for is 1 acceptance, especially from HOWARD. I can't wait to see who will be the first to POST, " I'M IN WOOO HOOO"! I hope especially for those who interviewed all ready get good news. I know a lot of us are banking on Howard especially if your GPA or MCAT score is not stellar. I know howard will look beyond the score and see someone who has over come adversity since child hood. I don't know about you guys, but where I am from your more likely to drop out sell drugs and go to prison, than graduate HS never mind getting into medical school. This is why Howard is my number 1, the students their honestly know the true meaning of the word perseverance. 😍 Good luck

I interviewed on 10/20 but still haven't gotten an out of committee email, and we're supposed to find out our decisions in 4 days! Anybody else in thesame boat? It seems like everyone who interviewed on that day got the email already.
 
Any new news out there out of Howard?

Did they say you will hear on or before the 15th? I hope they mail those letter today or atleast tomorrow. The 15 is a sunday.
 
Wooohoooo I just got the email too and i was told the letter should be sent out by the 18th. GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!!!
 
Congrats dRepacro, I hope all of us who int the 20 got the same email now. I hope they don't change the 15 now for the 18. This wait is making me lazy and nuerotic lol.

First time posting in this thread!

I just wanted to say good luck to everyone waiting to hear back, I'm sure you will all get great news 🙂

I myself am still waiting after being complete a few weeks. I really love this school and can't wait to hear back from them :luck:

Wow, this waiting is killin me! I really want to go to Howard, if I get an acceptance letter, then that's it for me. All my other interviews will be cancelled, and I will decline the acceptance I have received from another program, I fell in love while I was in DC and I just hope that they want me as much as I want them. Good luck you guys! I'm just praying for God's will to be done. If that's where God wants me to go, He will put me there... and the same goes for all of us 🙂
