I have been waiting for this letter for two years now 🙂 Very excited and nervous at the same time.. what is the best mode of transportation from Manassas, VA? should I take my car? or the metro? will I find parking in the morning? when should I start in the morning to beat the traffic?

I did not see this since i have not been to Howard site for awhile. My stats are on page 6 of University of central florida dated 10/26/09. I always promised myself that once i get into med school anybody that asks for my stats can have them hopefully it will help someone else. Good Luck to you next year and apply the first day of the AMCAS release😍😍

Recently got an invite, is anyone selecting the 12th or 13th of January???

Really excited and I want to go here quite badly; ditto-ing the previous question, what is the parking situation like? Is there a garage, and how soon does it fill?

hey, I am interviewing on 1/12. It'll be my first interview, pretty excited about that:soexcited:
For those who already interviewed, any advice on how to prepare for the it? Thanks a bunch.
 
hopefully you kept a copy of your secondary because you will have to fill out a form with similar questions and also be your self it is not the spanish inquisition( i can not spell) good luck you will be fine

i've been complete for awhile now but haven't heard from Howard yet. Any clues what I should do next? it's a cruel waiting game 😉

Thank god I still have a soft copy... and thanks for the tips!

I got the "your secondary application has been received" email on 12/6
(submitted my secondary about a month before then, can't remember exactly)
Interview invitation on 12/21
earliest interview date available 1/12
 
Called today to find out that I was accepted! Yayy!
 
Still no interview invite from Howard despite having stats higher than their average. I think I might as well withdraw since it's quite obvious they don't want me there.
 
So I've been reading this thread since I got my invite for an interview and am now finally posting. I am interviewing Jan. 12th and am super duper excited! Anyone else interviewing then?

Yes! I gotta an invite for late January. This is unbelievable. I'm thankful to Ms Walk and the people who let me meet Howard in person to try to convince them for real.

Even though I'm already in somewhere. Howard would be like another dimension to an education. A real history. Something to really aspire to.

Here's to Howard. And to me trying to go there with yall.
 
I got the email saying my app was received on 11/18, but still haven't heard anything back from them. Should I call them to make sure it didn't get lost somewhere, or just wait it out? I'm getting nervous, especially since someone who was complete 12/6 got an invite on 12/21. Thanks everyone :-D

Congratulations!!! Sorry I didn't get back to you before...not that it matters...but to anyone else: I didn't get the email saying I could call, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with how I filled (or how I didn't fill) out the secondary.

Everyone here, if applied, interviewed, accepted, and Even current students are just so positive and supportive! I love this thread and I love Howard! Can't wait to start in the Fall! 🙂

Hello everyone, I am new to SDN and this is officially my first post!! A friend informed me about this site-- I am excited about the abundance of information provided, and truly impressed especially with this forum. HUCM is the ONLY school I am interested in, and if it is in God’s will, I WILL BE A BISON in the fall🙂!! Congratulations to all of you who have gained admission you are truly blessed to be accepted into a wonderful establishment with such a rich history. Good luck to all of you have been granted interviews, I wish you many blessings, may your interview day be relaxed and successful (I can only hope and pray to be in your position in the near future). You all are beautiful, inspirational, and encouraging; this is probably the most uplifting forum I have come across. I wish you all the best. Good luck and God Bless!!

Just came back from my interview a little while ago. I am in love with the school right now. faculties are really awesome, and the students there seemed really happy. My interviewer Dr. Robinson clearly read my file throughly before hand... Right after I mentioned my name (before the interview) he already knew what undergrad I went to and what other languages I speak... but My interview was literally 10 minutes... and he only asked me two questions... why doctor and why Howard... not sure what to think 😕

i just get back from the interview too (it was funny/great meeting you, almostthere)

i loved the school too...kids were enthusiastic (like 20 of them just stopped by to say hi to us) and all the faculty we met were really outgoing; and of course the fellow interviewees were great too

my feeling about interviews is this: they asked all the harder questions in that 45 min extra set of questions at the beginning and then the interviews themselves were more laid back and casual conversation style to see your interpersonal skills (my interviewer, DR Blach, was great- he told me some funny jokes too)

at the interview, one of our interviewers expressed the diversity at howard, saying that there were people both poor/disadvantaged and well off, and people of all races from around the country

the whole point of howard is to train doctors who want to help the underserved no mater who they might be, but there was a somewhat higher percentage of disadvantages students because howard seems to be more considerate if their grades aren't quite as high as other applicants and there also seemed to be a higher percentage of non-traditionals too

You better lower your expectations before you become majorly disappointed. I didn't apply to Howard last year. Glad I didn't. Not sure I would have accepted an offer from them anyhow.

haha, it was great meeting you too, my fellow sdn-er mic43. Too bad we won't hear back until end of Feb... hmm.. fingers crossed... The students mentioned a wait list for the school. Has anyone actually been waitlisted this year?

I think the pamphlet said to be competitive at least a 22MCAT and a 3.0. Howard is more focused on your qualitative data, not so much your quantitative data like other schools. You can have a 4.0 45T but if you show on your application complete disregard for the under-served, I'm sure they would skip that person take the 22MCAT 3.0 who shows "true" commitment to work with the under-served population.
 
Glad to finally see some Howard movement taking place. Is that true for this round of interviewees? No news until end of February?? Anyone else with any updates?

I got my email today saying I am out of committee. Now I get to spend another 2 weeks biting my nails. I am praying that I'll make it and be a member of the 2014 class. Good luck to all!!!!

Hi All! Congratulations to all who got acceptances, and good luck to those who have interviewed or have yet to interview. I am really hoping to snag an interview at Howard. I really want to go here! The school, people, and city are awesome and I hope I can be part of the class of 2014. Oh the agony of waiting....

Does anyone know how often they send out interview invites?
