I swear, either they pick a name out of a hat, or they first run go thru the list of people who are legacy/have connections
 
So, what time do you think we should expect the invites to come out tomorrow? I think they'll probably keep us waiting til around 5.

I was in the first round, and believe me I have NO connections and definitely am not a legacy of UA med. I really have no idea how I was fortunate enough to be accepted, let alone in the first round. So I am right there with all of you waiting because I feel like I should be waiting still too, but for some reason I'm not. The whole process is one great, big crap shoot.
 
I am going to assume it is around 5 too, but I usually use this board as my notification system. Once I see on here that someone got in, or that we at least know someone that got in- then I know acceptances went out.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow! Hopefully we'll all get in and then in August we can all high-five about this wonderful experience we've had.

If it hasn't come out yet, my guess is it will not be until this afternoon. And when Phoenix does it in the afternoon, they seem to wait until the end of the day.

Although I don't anticipate an acceptance, waiting for no news still blows.
 
Amen. I keep checking their twitter account hoping they give us some kind of update, but nothing yet. I don't quite have the stomach right now to call or email them, either.
 
Here's what Tucson sent me today about the release last Friday

"We did send the final batch of accept emails out on Friday. We should be sending wait list and not accepted emails no later than mid-March."

And, no news for me yet today. I am not anticipating it though, but still :xf::luck: for me and everyone else on here!
 
I don't know if I can wait anymore! I don't think I've ever wanted something this much in my life. Anyone just keep refreshing their email this morning? At least I'm reassured by the fact that it appears acceptances will go out later today. Good luck everyone!

So roughly how many seats do we think Phoenix is giving out today?
 
I'm really pullin' for ya Mathlink! I thought about it a couple times today. I really hope all of you guys get in. Its hard to struggle through this with you guys and not start to pull for ya!

Won't it be funny a year from now when were preparing for some monstrous test wondering why we even applied for medical school? We need to remember then how much this sucks now.

I have no idea what pizziconi is talking about! I am just trying to distract myself till its confirmed that acceptances were sent out and as usual I didn't get an email.

This is an example of what happened on Phoenix's last round. Notice how jizzle got an acceptance at 5:12 PM? Looks like we're headed for that again. Oh goodie.
 
Hey Everyone,

My friend just showed me these forums the other day and wish I had known this existed before just now! Would have been nice to have known everyone was in the same boat as me ha ha.
I am also waiting to hear back from Phoenix right now. It is making me so nervous. I wish they would just get on with it and send us something already.

It might be possible that no one on SDN got an acceptance since there were only going to be about 20 sent out. Which would suck so much since we'd all be sitting here wondering....
 
I've been reading this thread for a while but I've never posted before. Today is making me crazy. I don't think I'm getting in but I wish they would send out rejections and/or wait list notices at the same time so I wouldn't have to wonder for so long.

20 is over twice as much as they've sent before...and there's always been one person from SDN to get into each campus on an acceptance date. Still, it is possible.

There are currently 66 people viewing this thread...and none of them got an acceptance today or know somebody who did? I'd be willing to bet they haven't sent them out yet.
 
Yay, I'm excited to apply for the third time... Now, if I could only afford to do it...
 
Well, I have to say that I am not happy about this! I figured I wouldn't get one, but I had really been hoping for at least a few of us to get in!

Well not everyone checks their mail right at 5, so I would give it some time before concluding they havent sent them out yet

hmmm is it naive to hope they got behind and pushed it to tomorrow? if not now comes the wait for the waitlist yippee! haha
 
I got an email 40 minutes ago from a company that edits medical school essays. Their email address starts off with "medadmissions", and for one tiny second I was so sure it was Phoenix...they couldn't have had worse timing with that one.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with hoping. Until we hear otherwise, we can always hope that they haven't sent them yet. Ha ha, they're probably looking at this thread laughing at us all squirming, waiting to send them out until like midnight or some equally ridiculous hour.

That's the worst, every time my phone dings, I have a heart attack, and it's usually people asking if I've heard!

Actually, I think Tucson's emails show up as "medadmissions". If Tucson had been sending out invites today, and I had gotten that email, I would have passed out before opening it.

I honestly think they may be having some heated debates as to who to accept and who not to accept right now. If they had already decided who to let in when today started, they would have sent out the emails this morning. Maybe they're arguing about me right now.

Everyone else, waitlist thoughts. :xf: I think it will move quite a bit this year due to the addition of OOS students.

I hope so! How does it work? Does each campus have a separate WL? Are they doing anything to ensure the 75% resident quota, or does anything go once we get to the WL?

They have separate lists, Phx doesn't rank, they look for the best fit, Tucson has ranks and they go down the list.

For the ranked waitlist in Tucson, I think this will increase the final number... assuming that OOS students will be less apt to matriculate given an offer of acceptance (don't know if this is true, since I bet they are fairly choosy with their OOS acceptees). Obviously OOS student addition isn't increasing IS acceptances, but my guess is that the final amount of waitlist offers will be a bit higher this year compared to last. We don't get the joy of knowing how deep the waitlist goes here in Phx (since a waitlist # isn't given to waitlisters), but more Tucson movement means more phx movement since as this happens the # of overlapping acceptances will go up.

Let the acceptance anxiety cease, and the waitlist anxiety commence. :laugh: Well, you guys can still hope for a back-filled phx acceptance in the coming weeks before the waitlist announcements, I guess... if you're looking for something to worry about.

Accepted at PHX! Got the email 5:49pm. The suspense was killer! Felt kinda like new years. It was really fun following this thread minute-by-minute for the breaking news. I wish the best for the rest of you. This is my first acceptance!
