So - if I haven't been rejected yet, what the hell does that mean? I mean, obviously good things but I matriculate in like a month and move in 2 weeks, I don't have a lot of wiggle room.

i was accepted off the waiting list today, one day before i was to matriculate somewhere else (and therefore could no longer have accepted ucsd's offer)! i am SO excited. my car was packed, i had signed my lease, said all of my goodbyes...but now i'm sticking around for a few more weeks 🙂

i was on the phone with brian and he was explaining the bad news (that if i didn't get an offer today, i wouldn't be eligible to accept one) at the very same moment that, unbeknownst to him, dean kelly was emailing to tell me of my acceptance. crazy!

anyway, for those of you who are still waiting, there's still hope! brian said there are ~55 people still on the list. good luck! i can't believe it!!

I'm also surprised there were only ~55 spots left on the waitlist- I thought they had hundreds only a few weeks ago? Interesting.

okay, i realize how dumb of a question this is, but i can't seem to find the answer in the material they sent us: when is orientation?

orientation starts august 30 and continues through that week, ending with the white coat ceremony on september 3. don't worry...i don't think it actually gave the dates in the info packet. i got that info from the academic calendar on the website, and called/emailed to confirm!

I am continually confused as to what's actually going on at UCSD. Is it a good thing that I'm still on the waitlist? Do I actually have a chance of getting in at this point? I'm trying to stay sort of optimistic, but at some point, I have to book a flight and get an apartment. I'd feel awful if I end up committing to a place and then telling someone at the last second that I'm not moving in.

Hang in there, Aggro. I'm also waiting, and if I get in, I'd like someone with your sense of humor to come with. As for me, I just plan on making no plans and playing everything by ear. My motto these days is "eh, I'll figure it out."

I'm also still on the waiting list. I emailed Brian today to see what the situation is like for people on the waiting list. I got an automatic response saying that he is out on vacation until July 18th and will not be checking his mail. sigh.

I e-mailed Dean Kelly this week. She confirmed that the waitlist is down to fewer than 50 people, but that the class is completely full, and that people are only being taken on a case-by-case basis as spots open up.

So basically, don't hold your breath.

Seems like there has been very little (if any) waitlist movement and it isn't reflected on SDN...

Anyone called or emailed lately for WL length/movement status? I really am hoping for some closure on this one, but I doubt I will get it until school starts.
