I spoke to admissions 2 weeks ago about being on hold. They said I should hear back by dec. 6th. I don't know if this applies to everyone though.

Well that doesn't make much sense. That's a Sunday. The original email said January 5th at the latest.

So everyone finds out early January.....or it's possible to find out earlier?

shout out to everyone else from the hold list who is on the edge of their seats!

If I get an interview from the hold list, would it just be for a wait list spot? I assume they have already filled most of their small class.

I don't think so. UChicago has been relatively conservative with their acceptances despite what you see on SDN. Also, I'd take whatever I can get, lol I'd rather get on the waitlist and absolutely do whatever I can to claw my way off of it.

Has anyone who interviewed the first week of December heard anything?

You mean November? The first week of December was a couple of days ago. 😉

i interviewed first week of november and haven't heard anything yet. Do you remember if they said we won't hear anything until 4-6 weeks or 6-8 weeks?

i heard them say 4-6 weeks, but the paper in the folder says 6-8 weeks lol

Does anyone know how often the adcom calls back students to offer merit scholarships? I haven't received a call yet for merit and I've been accepted for some time now...

Hi everyone,

Joni, Mary, and I will be recording a new podcast episode tomorrow morning at 8:30AM CST; we'll be spending most of the time clearing up some of the remaining questions that you folks have been asking here and some other common questions that have been coming up recently.

If you have anything else you're still curious or confused about, ask now and we'll try to fit it in tomorrow! Post it here or send an email to [email protected].

Take care, and hang in there if you're still waiting!
Ben

Love to hear any insight on when those applicants on-hold will hear about their decision - will it be in January or possibly before that? Also: will I be getting an interview? 😀 thanks!
Seconded! 😀 Thanks, Ben!

Yep, that's one of the big things we'll be talking about: when you all should expect to hear something new, especially those on hold. Also: some discussion about merit scholarships. Those seem to be foremost in peoples' minds right now.

Can't help you with the interview one though. 🙂

hahaha no worries. I eagerly await the podcast. Woo!

Thanks so much! You guys are the best. 🙂

I just called admissions and they told me that they reviewed my file yesterday. I interviewed 7 weeks ago. :xf: Hopefully I get in!

I interviewed on October 19th and still haven't heard. Any idea what this means? Anyone who interviewed no this date hear back yet?

Day after for me, they probably also reviewed your file yesterday then.

Just wrapped up two new episodes! I'm hoping to have the first up by Monday at the latest. (Snurping was right: You can find every episode at pritzkerpodcast.com or on our iTunes page.)

Ah, I thought it was gonna be live because you mentioned a specific time (8:30 AM CST). Any preview of when us "pre-interview holds" are going to hear back? 😀

When does Pritzker mail out information for applicants accepted by phone? I'm working on comparing schools and I just have the packet of stuff I got on interview day to go off of.

For those of you who spoke over the phone to admissions, did you just call the generic admissions phone number 773-702-1937 and leave a message? When I called this number I'm directed towards a machine that suggests applicants either email their questions or leave a message...

I'm really looking forward to the next pritzker podcast!!

Yep same phone, they answered.

Has anyone heard anything this week in regards to post-interview decisions?

Hello all. I decided to make an unofficial admitted students Facebook page, much like some of the other acceptees at other schools had done. I hope some of you here will join, and the rest will soon be able to come along :xf:!

Its called: U Chicago Pritzker SOM Class of 2014 - Accepted Students

and it's closed, but just add it and I'll accept you.

thanks for taking the initiative jerew.

For those on hold.....
~230 on Hold. They're running behind on review apps, so we most likely won't hear to early January (January 1st is their internal deadline to let hold candidates know....although I remember my email saying January 5th).

The board scores are rising this year apparently. At Indiana it's 231 and at Iowa I think it is 233. Even Cincinnati IIRC is 230. Those are just places where they told us. By the time we are taking it God knows what the national average will be.

anybody know the number of students that are accepted from the "continued application" pool? or the percentage of students?

are all students that are interviewed moved to "continued applicant" if not accepted, or are some rejected?

thanks

I can't answer your first question, but for the latter, if you haven't yet been accepted, you may be rejected or given a continued status. We discussed the continued status a bit more in depth in Episode 4 and Episode 18 of the podcast. Might be worth a listen.

Hi Alatabs, I heard from one of the admissions officials that an average of 25 students each year are offered acceptances from the continued list.

Does anyone happen to know how often the committee meets (For ex: every Tues, etc.). I'm just curious b/c it seems no acceptance offers have gone out lately?

I would appreciate it if somebody could answer this-I asked pretty much the same question a month ago.

I believe they meet on Fridays, and I think they're still meeting roughly every week or so. Lemme confirm with Joni though.

hey,

so if you already interviewed but haven't gotten your decision yet can you still update your file and send a letter of intent, or should you first wait for the decision? i interviewed over a month ago
thanks

I know we're not hearing anything about pre-interview holds before January... but I just wanted to say that I'll give you a Christmas gift Pritzker if you give me one 🙂

According to Joni, the admissions director, the adcom would prefer that you wait to send a letter of intent until after you've interviewed at other medical schools and still feel Pritzker is your number one choice. Your case will be much more valid if you're about to talk about how Pritzker is different/better than the other schools you have been.

Sorry, I guess they're meeting less frequently now that things have slowed down a bit near the end of interview season.

From Joni: "The Committee typically meets every 2-3 weeks, but this schedule is somewhat varied during the holidays. Time from interview day to final decision is currently running about 7-8 weeks."
